1 . The aim (目的) of students who come to school is to study. But to study requires (需要) a right way, or you waste either the time or the money. The following are the ways of studying.
The best time for reading is morning, because in the morning, the air is fresh and the mind is clear. For that reason, we can get good results.
In studying we must have patience (耐心) . If we don’t know a text well, we must read it again. Before we read the next one, we should learn the first one.
When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get nothing from the book while we are reading.
We must always ask “whys”. If we don’t know it well, write it down and ask our teachers, parents, or friends. In any possible way, we must know it completely and what we’ve learned can be used well and made better. These ways are quite enough if we can keep them in heart and do so.

Understand that there is not a single way to enjoy your teen years. Everyone is different in their teen years. Some teens prefer to spend time with friends, while others prefer to study and work; some prefer to be quiet, while others are loud. Saying that there’s only one way to enjoy your teen years is wrong.
Develop your sense of self, focusing more on your own thoughts. For lots of people, the teen years are full of worries. Stop paying so much attention to them as many of them are based on what other people think instead of what you think. Go ahead and do what you want without taking others’ opinions seriously.
Work on your value. What you achieve in your teen years may decide chances in your adulthood, so offer some time to study and do your best. There are lots of things you don’t know how to address. Learn how to choose and improve your studying skills. It may not seem enjoyable, but it’s helpful later on in life.
Keep good relations with your family as much as possible. Family is one of the most important connections in your life. Family members, especially parents, probably worry about you during your teen years. You see them every day—why not make it nice to spend time with them?

3 . The way we spend our time can be divided into three “bottles”. These are the necessary tasks bottle, the voluntary tasks bottle and the happiness bottle.
Every day, we spend time filling the necessary tasks bottle with useful things, like making money, doing housework, buying food and paying bills. We then fill another bottle with voluntary tasks. These are things that we do for others, but we may not enjoy them. This bottle gets filled with tasks like taking children to activities, cooking family meals, and washing clothes for family. Those bottles are very important. If we don’t fill them each day, our family won’t run properly.
However, we often forget to fill the third bottle — the happiness bottle that we fill with activities that make us happy. Is your happiness bottle sometimes empty at the end of the day? Between doing all the necessary and voluntary tasks, time flies by, and before we know it, it is time for bed. We all have days like that.
This is why each day we have to make an effort to fill our happiness bottle. I fill mine by going to the dancing class. And I always leave classes more happily than when I enter. This week, I had the pleasure of taking part in a guitar practice in my neighborhood. We show our musical talent and practice music for charity. It was a time of fun, friendship and music-making. At the end of the evening, my happiness bottle was filled to the top.
Make sure to fill all the three bottles. Will your activities bring joy to your life? Or are the other two tasks eating up all your time? Try to find ways to achieve a balance between how you fill your three bottles. At the end of the day, hopefully we’ve done all we can to make sure that our happiness bottle is filled.

4 . Everyone has worries. How do you deal with your worries? There is always something you can do to help yourself feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won’t solve your problems. Grades at school are often a top worry for kids. If you worry most about grades, ask yourself these questions:
● Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?
● How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn’t a test?
● Do I have a good learning environment?
● Have I tried different ways of studying?
If your worry is about a fight with your friend, you might write down all the things you could do— write a note to him or her, invite him or her to watch a basketball game, say sorry to him or her and so on. Once you have a list of things to do, you could choose one thing that may get your friend back. You can ask for help when you’re worried. You can find someone to talk to, such as your parents, friends and teachers.

The survey was done among 1,000 British kids from 12 to 16. It found that 50% of them got just 4 to 7 hours’ sleep every day. But doctors say they need 8 to 9 hours.
Almost 25% of the kids said they often fell asleep while they were watching TV, listening to music or using other electronic products.
“This is very worrying,” said Dr. Chris, a British professor. “We call it ‘junk sleep’. It means you don’t get enough sleep and the quality (质量) of the sleep is low, too. If you don’t get a good rest, you won’t do well in school the next day.” The survey found that quite a few of the kids felt tired each day because of the junk sleep, especially girls between 13 and 16 feeling the worst. Nearly all the teenagers have a phone, an ipad or TV in their bedrooms. And lots of them even have all the three.
Dr. Chris suggested that parents should help their children keep away from electronic products, and teenagers should spend less time on the electronic products.

Its Chinese name “dongzhi” means that winter comes and the days get colder.
In China, it is tradition(传统) to eat dumplings(饺子)on this day. This tradition comes from a famous doctor named Zhang ZhongJing. On a cold winter day, Zhang sees people have frostbite(冻伤) on their ears. To help them, he makes a kind of food in the shape(形状)of an ear, just like the dumplings we eat today. 10 . My good friend Carlos invited me to his birthday party. He moved to Canada from Mexico when he was a baby, but his parents tried to follow some of the Mexican traditions. At his party I saw my first pinata (彩盒). It looked like an animal and full of candies. People put it on the ceiling (天花板). Carlos hit (打) the pinata until it broke. All the candies fell on the floor, and we had a great time eating candies. Everyone shared. It was fun!
Caros’s birthday party got me thinking about how kids in other places celebrate birthdays.
Did you know that in Vietnam, everyone’s birthday is on the same day? Kids do not celebrate on birthdays. Instead, on New Year’s Day (信封) with lucky money in them. What a great way to celebrate birthdays!
In South Africa, kids do not celebrate every birthday. However, on their 2lst birthday, their parents make a key. It can be made of paper or wood. Parents give their child this key. It is a sign from the parents that the child can know “unlock the door to their future life”.
In Japan, children get a new set of clothes on their birthdays. While in Italy adults (成年人) pull children’s cars—one pull for each year. In Denmark, adults put presents all around the child’s bed.
