1 . One day, our teacher said that he had an exercise for us to try. We were to stand, facing away from our classmates, and fall backward, depending on another student to catch us. Most of us were uncomfortable with this. We couldn't fall back for more than a few inches before stopping ourselves. Finally, Judy gave it a try. She is a thin, quiet dark-haired girl who always wears big white sweaters. Judy crossed her arms over her chest, closed her eyes, leaned back, and did not stop. She looked like one of the TV ads where the model jumps into the pool.

For a moment, I was sure she was going to fall onto the floor. At the last moment, her partner grabbed(抓住) her head and shoulders and pulled her up immediately.

"Whoa!" several students yelled. Some clapped their hands. Our teacher finally smiled. "You see," he said to the girl. "You closed your eyes. That was the difference. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see. You have to believe what you feel. 2 . A couple often went shopping together. They both liked teacups. One day they saw a beautiful teacup in a store. As they picked it up, it suddenly spoke.

"Finally the door opened, and he took me out and put me on a shelf. Then he brushed me and put me back into the oven. This time it was twice as hot. I begged. I cried. I could see him through the opening nodding his head, saying, 'Not yet.' "

"Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I was ready to give up, but the door opened and I was taken out and placed on a shelf. Later he handed me a mirror and said, 'Look at yourself.' I said, 'That can't be me. It's becautiful!' "
