5 . Visiting the pyramids, cruising (乘船游览) the Nile, diving in the Red Sea...There is just a small list of the many different reasons to plan a trip to Egypt (埃及). And now you can add one more to the list: going to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The world’s largest archaeological (考古的) museum has recently opened its doors to the public.
The GEM is located two kilometres from the Pyramids of Ciza. It takes half an hour to drive from the centre of Cairo. The museum covers an area of about 500,000 square metres. It has more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian objects. Many of these objects date back thousands of years. Most of them have never been seen by the public before.
As soon as visitors enter the GEM, they’ll be greeted by the Statue of King Ramesses Ⅱ. The12-metre-tall statue weighs more than 80 tonnes. It was moved to the museum from a square outside of Cairo’s main railway station. For the first time, visitors will also be able to see all of the 5,000 objects from the tomb (陵墓) of Tutankhamun. The young king’s golden mask is among the best-known artworks from ancient Egypt.
The GEM is expected to attract six million visitors every year. The Egyptian government hopes that it will help to promote (提升) the country’s tourism.

When you get up, you see a lot of fish out of the window (窗户). What’s going on? Are you having a dream (梦), you’re in an underwater hotel in Sweden.
The hotel’s name is Utter Inn. It’s in the centre of a lake. The hotel isn’t big. Its bedroom is 3 metres under the water. People can climb (爬) down to the room by a ladder.
The bedroom is small with just two beds and a table. But the room has windows on all sides (面), so people can see fish swimming around them. Above the water, there’s a bathroom. Out of the bathroom, there is a table and some chairs. People can sit on the chairs to enjoy the sun or do some fishing.
The hotel gives people water, juice, coffee and tea for free. People can also get a small boat from the hotel to visit places near the hotel.
Swedish artist Mikael Genberg made the hotel. He hopes people can enjoy life under the water. The hotel is only open in the summer months, from June to August. The cost of staying in the hotel is $386 a night.
