3 . Tips for Travelling Abroad
Everyone loves travelling abroad. It gives us the chance to see some sights, have some fun and relax. However, travelling isn’t always a great experience. Follow these tips to make sure you enjoy your trip.
Have you packed your passport? Your tickets? Every year, thousands of people miss flights because they’ve forgotten their passports. They arrive at the airports too late, or they even go to the wrong airports!
How much do you know about the place you are going to visit? Learning something about the culture of the foreign city will help you understand the people. Learning a few expressions of another language can also help you make new friends.
Try to reduce the pollution you cause. Travel by train if you can. Flying produces much more carbon dioxide than travelling by train. After you arrive, use buses or trains instead of taxis.
You can help a local community a lot by staying in local hotels and eating in local restaurants. This means that your money will go to local people rather than to a large international company.
You don’t want to forget your trips. Make a scrapbook — a book of memories about your trips. You can show it to friends, or just use it to remember all the good times you had! And don’t forget the new friends you made during your trips. Did you promise to send them pictures or presents? Don’t forget to do it. Then next time you go on a trip, you can visit them again.

5 . One day, Justin decided to spend the holiday with his old friend Andrew in Australia. Their plane arrived in Sydney at ten in the morning. They had a good rest in a hotel. The next morning they rented (租) a car and began their travel. Justin found a river and they drove the car there quickly. Soon they got to the river. Before they jumped into the water, Andrew saw a boy playing under a big tree. He asked, “Are there any crocodiles (鳄鱼) in the river?” “No, there aren’t,” answered the boy. So they began to swim in the river. After a while, Justin felt something hit against (撞) his leg. He told Andrew about it. They were afraid and stopped swimming. Andrew asked the boy loudly, “Is it true that there aren’t any crocodiles in the river?”
“Yes, sir,” said the boy, “but there are many sharks (鲨鱼) in the river.”

6 . I sold my house and left my job in May 2020. There was one thing that I just could not leave behind, my cat Willow. The solution (解决方法) was easy. I went on a journey with my best animal friend!
Last year, we travelled over 70,000 kilometers around Australia. We saw forests and beaches together. This year, we spent three months in the desert. I’m happy to go back to the beautiful beach, but I’m not sure what Willow thinks.
Some people were surprised when they saw I travelled with a cat. Once a backpacker at a campsite even shouted. “Excuse me, there is a cat trying to get into your van!”
I know. The van, a small house on wheels, is our home. I built it by myself with a bed, cupboards, a kitchen—and plenty of places for a little cat to hide! It might be small, but the whole Australia is our backyard.
Willow enjoys exploring the places, but she doesn’t like to go too far from our van. She loves to sit on the dashboard to enjoy a great view. I post our photos on social media (媒体) and look forward to hearing from people from all over the world who are following our adventures.
We are lucky. We always have each other and the whole Australia to see. I will treasure the memory for a lifetime. If Willow taught me something, it is that you don’t need a lot to be happy. You just need a bit of food, shelter and a whole lot of love.
