Shanghai is one of the first cities in China to see bike sharing fever. Shared bikes can now be found all over the city.     1     On streets, we can often see riders of your age. Some might even be younger than you. Unluckily, there have been some accidents involving (涉及) shared bikes.     2

One of the most serious accidents took place in March. One Sunday afternoon, a boy was riding an ofo bike (共享单车). He was hit by a bus and later died. The boy’s parents were not by his side.     3     He was only about 10 years old.

The good news is that Shanghai has been trying to manage (管理) bike sharing by making rules. The rules are still being discussed, but some of the rules have been decided on.     4     Users must be between 1.45 and 1.95 meters tall.

However, it could be hard to make these rules work. Ou Jing is ofo’s manager in Shanghai. He said the company had banned (禁止) children under 12 from using its service. Yet, young children can still be seen riding ofo bikes. That’s because many ofo bikes use manual (手动的) locks.     5     Ofo has developed electronic locks (电子锁). However, it will take some time for the company to fix the new locks on all of its bikes,

Most of you are old enough to ride a shared bike. Still, please ride slowly for your own safety. When you finish using the bike, don’t forget to park and lock it properly—for everybody’s safety.

A.If a user doesn’t lock the bike properly after using it, anyone can ride it away.
B.In fact, they are popular not only among adults but also among teens.
C.All of the children under 12 have stopped riding ofo bikes.
D.Besides, the boy was too young to ride a bike.
E.For example, only people aged between 12 and 70 can ride shared bikes.
F.These accidents warn us that shared bikes are not for everybody.
G.To ride a shared bike is safe for everybody.

6 . Bike-sharing has swept across China, with an increasing number of people choosing bike riding instead of driving. The bike that the service company provides has GPS or Bluetooth on it, and those bikes can be easily unlocked with a smart phone and left anywhere in public. Bike-sharing allows people to borrow a bike from one place and return it at another place easily.

In some cities, we can see more and more people riding this kind of sharing bikes. It’s very convenient to use the bikes if you have a smart phone. First you have to download such an APP on your smart phone. Then what you need to do is to find a nearest bike through the APP, scan the QR code (编码) on the bike or connect your phone with the bike with wireless connection. You will find the bike can be unlocked itself. Then you can enjoy your trip. What’s more, the great advantage (优点) of bike-sharing is that you can easily find one and never worry about where to park it. The cost of riding depends on the time you spend. Normally, every hour you ride, you need to pay one yuan. It doesn’t cost so much, does it?

At the same time, some people park the bikes in their own homes. Besides, some people don’t value the bikes. Now service companies are trying to solve the problem like being stolen. Technology and science have changed our social styles. We have to say bike-sharing brings us more convenience without doubt. I’m from Romania. China is really a great country and its high-speed railways are very fast, easy and tidy. It takes me only about 4 hours from Beijing to Shanghai by train. It saves a lot of time and it’s cheaper than the airplane. I wish we would have high-speed trains in our country someday.

I’m from Nepal. I always go out by bike. Bicycle-sharing system (系统) allows people to borrow a bike from point “A”and return it at point “B”. It’s not only cheap but also a low-carbon (低碳的) and healthy way of life. I like it very much.

My life in Beijing is quite different from that in India. Here in China, I seldom take money with me when I go out. I can pay for almost everything by Alipay. It’s really amazing. However, in India, if you don’t take the wallet with you, you’ll get into trouble.

You can find many wonderful things that we don’t have in Thailand. We don’t have Alipay or other online payment apps. I can buy almost everything without stepping out of the doors in China. If only I could bring these technologies to my country!

For a long time, many people only knew China’s four ancient inventions: the compass (指南针) , gunpowder (火药) , paper-making and printing. However, China has once again changed the world with its “new four great inventions”—online shopping, mobile payment, shared bikes and high-speed trains. They have changed people’s lives completely. China has made great progress in science and technology. In fact, China has the largest number of mobile phone and Internet users in the world.

There are many big online shops, such as Taobao, T-mal, Pinduoduo, Suning and JD. They have made online shopping very popular in China. “My wallet is no longer in use. I can buy and eat whatever I want simply with my phone,” said Lin Jinlong. He is an exchange student from Cambodia, It’s true that even a fruit seller can use WeChat Pay or Alipay.

Bike sharing is not a new idea, but China has given it a whole new meaning. We can leave the shared bikes at any bike station. Most people love the idea, for it is not only cheap but also good for our health and our environment.

On September 21st, 2017, China’s new high-speed train Fuxing made its first run from Beijing to Shanghai. It ran at a speed of 350km/h. This makes it the fastest train in the world. China has the world’s longest high-speed railway network (网) —more than 22, 000 kilometers.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。本文介绍了旧金山也将效仿其他城市,为公众提供免费自行车以及针对此事人们的不同看法。

9 . San Francisco is going to do what many other cities have already done—provide free bikes to the public. The leader of San Francisco speaks highly of the bike program. He wants to improve the terrible traffic problems in the city.

At first, 40 to 60 bikes can be used only by city workers. People will give their old bikes to the city to use in the program. If this program is successful, one day more than 1, 000 bikes can be used.

Everyone, not just city workers, will be able to use these bikes.

People in Fresno, California, already have a free-bike program. In fact, this idea began in Amsterdam over 40 years ago. These programs encourage people to get out of their cars and onto pollution-free bikes.

Fresno’s Yellow Bike program puts about forty bikes around. The bikes are painted bright yellow so people know they can use them. When people take a yellow bike, they can ride to work or shopping areas, and then leave the bike for the next rider.

Some people worry that the free bikes will be stolen(偷). However, it hasn’t been a problem in other free-bike cities. While most people think that the program is a good idea, only a few say they will use it. “I will still drive my car,” says Joanna Greene. “San Francisco has a lot of hills. My office is at the top of Potrero Hill. I don’t think I am strong enough to ride a bike all the time.”

Program leaders know there will be problems. But they think it is worth trying. “It doesn’t mean everyone should ride a bike,” says Sylvia Pass. “But if just one hundred people use it every day, that’s one hundred cars that aren’t on the streets, one hundred parking spaces that aren’t used. I think it is a great beginning.”

1. Where will the bikes for the program in San Francisco come from?
A.The leader of San Francisco will buy them for the program.
B.The program leaders will buy bikes for the program.
C.Some people will offer their bikes to the program.
D.City workers will give their bikes to the program.
2. The purpose(目的)of the free-bike program in Fresno, California is to ________.
A.help make the air cleanerB.paint the bikes bright yellow
C.keep thieves from stealing bikesD.help people who don’t have cars
3. What Joanna Greene says means that ________.
A.no one would like this programB.some people will not use the bikes
C.the program is not a good ideaD.the program will be popular in this area
4. What can be inferred (推断) from the passage?
A.The free-bike program of San Francisco will make the air pollution more serious.
B.The program leaders of San Francisco expect everyone will use bikes instead of cars.
C.Free-bike programs are popular in many cities.
D.The free-bike program was a great success.

10 . Answer the questions. (根据短文内容回答下列问题。)

Have you ever used shared bicycles(共享单车) to travel around? What do you know about them?

The first shared bicycles called Ofo(小黄车) started in June 2015 in Beijing. Bluegogo(小蓝单车) was the first to go into foreign(外国的) markets in Tokyo, Japan, in San Francisco, the USA, and in London, the UK. Ofo and Mobike(摩拜)followed it.

Shared bicycles plan to work out the last-kilometer problem. When people get off at a bus stop or underground station, the place they want to go to is still one or two kilometers away. It’s expensive to take a taxi there or it is too far and tiring to walk there. But it is cheap and easy to ride a shared bicycle to get there.

Shared bicycles are a green way to travel. Also, it is good exercise to ride a bicycle.

But there are problems with shared bicycles. Some leave them anywhere on the pavements(人行道), so that other people have difficulty walking along.

Shared bicycles really bring us great convenience(便利) but possibly are a new kind of waste of resources (资源) and pollution.

1. Which first went into foreign markets, Mobike or Bluegogo?
________________________________________________
2. When and where did Ofo start?
________________________________________________
3. How many foreign countries have Chinese shared bicycles gone into, according to the passage?

4. What do shared bicycles plan to do?

5. What problem is there with shared bicycles?
