A 56-year-old enthusiastic backyard bird watcher named Stuart Dahlquist spent years     1    (leave) out food for a family of crows(乌鸦) and was left     2    (astonish) when he found a gift from them. He first became familiar with the bird family after he rescued two chicks that had come     3     their nest in his front yard five years ago.

Dahlquist had always considered     4     delightful to listen to the baby birds chirp(鸟叫）to their parents during feeding time. When he found the tiny crows     5    (lie) on the ground, he went to help. Despite the squawks of alarm from the adults, Dahlquist managed to pick up the chicks and put them back in the nest.
