1 . Silk Road countries celebrated at a forum

I was honored to be invited to the International Forum on the Silk Roads at the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in April.

Before ________ this event, I didn’t know much about what UNESCO was, except that they had ________ the World Heritage (遗产) List. However, as I did more ________, I realized that there was so much more about UNESCO than just listing valuable heritage sites around the world.

UNESCO was ________ in 1942 in the midst of World WarⅡ. Many European ________ that had been fighting against Nazi Germany came together to ________ ways of rebuilding the ________ system after the war was over. Since then, the organization has expanded (扩大) beyond Europe to include all ________ of the United Nations while keeping to their ________ goal of achieving ________ through the intellectual and moral education of humanity.

I had high expectations for this event, which ________ to be an evening of music, dance and a display of arts by three countries along the Silk Road. The performances were indeed excellent. The three musical performances by the Kazakh band, filled with wonderful music and low drum beats, had everyone on the edge of their ________. I also enjoyed the hanfu fashion show which was the final performance for the evening. The history of hanfu was ________ by models wearing clothes from different Chinese dynasties. They walked onto the stage while the host explained the details of each hanfu style. I found the event to be not only ________ entertaining, but also a great opportunity to explore the ________ of different countries along the Silk Road. UNESCO’s events offer chances to celebrate and appreciate their unique beauty.

Guggenheim Museum, New York

Google’s Street View lets visitors tour the Guggenheim’s famous spiral (螺旋式) staircase without ever leaving home. From there, you can discover incredible works of art from the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary times.

Pergamon Museum,Berlin

As one of Germany’s largest museums, Pergamonhas a lot to offer — even if you can’t physically be there. This historical museum is home to plenty of ancient works including the Ishtar Gate of Babylon and, of course,the Pergamon Altar.

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Anyone who is a fan of this tragic, gifted painter can see his works up close (or, almost up close) by virtually visiting this museum — the largest collection of artworks by Vincent Van Gogh, including over 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and over 750 personal letters.

The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles

European artworks from as far back as the 8th century can be found in this California art museum. Take a Street View tour to discover a huge collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, manuscripts, and photographs.
