In early summer, the mountains and fields of Guizhou provinces Miao villages are dressed in fresh robes of green. Everywhere, vigour and vitality shine.

Red roofs, gray walls, green trees and grass, along with placid water in the fields, paint a bright and colorful picture of Bayi village in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture.

The layers of terraced fields are a masterpiece of farming culture handed down by the ancestors of local Miao residents. Villagers plow fields and transplant rice seedlings.

2 . We’re not saying that everyone needs to contribute their lives to the poor. Your lives are enough doing homework, playing sports, making friends, seeking after your dreams. But we do think that you can live a more powerful life when you devote some of your time and energy to something much la than yourself. Find an issue you are interested in and learn more. Volunteer or, if you can, contribute little money to a cause. Whatever you do, don’t be a bystander. Get involved. You may have the opportunity to make your biggest difference when you’re older. But why not start now?

3 . Terrafugia Inc. said Monday that its new flying car has completed its first flight, bringing the company closer to its goal of selling the flying car within the next year. The vehicle—named the Transition—has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. The Transition, which flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes last month, can reach around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 in the flies using a 23-gallon tank of gas and bums 5 gallons per hour in the air. On the ground, it gets 35 miles per gallon.
