1 . The Chinese government has issued (发布) new rules aimed at controlling young people’s addiction to video games. Senior officials believe that this problem is the reason why more and more young people in the whole society are suffering from myopia (近视) and poor learning.

The National Press and Publication Administration announced on Tuesday that the rules don’t allow users under the age of 18 to play between 10 pm and 8 am, no more than 90 minutes on non-holidays, and no more than 3 hours on weekends and other holidays.

These restrictions (限制) are the latest in the government’s attempt to control the Chinese online gaming industry. It is the world’s largest market with annual incomes of more than $33 billion and attracts hundreds of millions of users.

Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, Chinese officials have taken stronger measures to watch over large technology companies and promote them to help spread the cultural values advocated (提倡) by the Communist Party of China.

Video games have become a universal goal. The official media likened some games to “poisons” and banned (禁止) some games on the grounds of their being too violent.

Xi Jinping publicly talked about the problem of poor eyesight in children last year, putting more pressure on officials to take action.

According to the National Press and Publication Administration, minors (未成年人) must use real names and ID numbers when they log into the game. These rules also limit the amount of money that young people can use to buy virtual items such as weapons, clothing, and pets through the app. Depending on the age, users can spend 200 to 400 on them at the most per month.

Chinese officials said that these regulations are aimed at fighting against Internet addiction.

3 . Asthma (哮喘) and allergy (过敏) attacks have increased in the United States, despite the fact that our outdoor air quality has improved. Some researchers think these problems have increased because kids are spending too much time indoors.

When outdoors, we are exposed to different kinds of pollen (花粉) and dust. But when indoors, we are also exposed to allergens (过敏源) . Allergens cause allergies and most people know that allergens can make you sneeze, have runny eyes, and other cold-like symptoms (症状). But allergens can also lead to asthma attacks, which are more serious. Asthma symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath, especially during exercise and tightness in the chest. Allergic asthma affects about three million children (8 to 12 percent of all children) and seven million adults in the United States each year!

You can get rid of the allergens from your environment! Most children with asthma are allergic to something, so staying away from the allergen should help control the asthma. If you have asthma or allergies, stay away from animals, remove the teddy bears, rugs and curtains in rooms that you spend a lot of time in. Removal of dusty things can help you breathe more easily. If it's trees and pollen that affect you, air conditioning and air filters(空气过滤器) should help.

And research helps, too! Children whose parents, brothers or sisters have asthma are more likely to develop it themselves. But even though our genes do play some part in whether or not we'll have asthma, researchers hope to make the most progress in fighting the disease by looking at the environmental aspect (方面) of asthma. The hope is that if kids are exposed to fewer allergens early in life, they'll be less likely to develop allergic responses. Asthma research is performed at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases(NIAID).

1. What makes asthma and allergy attacks increase in the United States?
A.Poor outdoor air quality.B.Not enough outdoor time.

4 . Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. When it comes to cancer, the sooner you know you have it, the better your chances of surviving. A new blood test could change the way doctors and researchers find cancer in patients. Researchers say the test could provide evidence to the early forms of the disease.

Scientists at Swansea University in Wales came up with the idea. Gareth Jenkins is a professor at the university. “ In this blood test we don’t measure the presence of cancer; we measure the presence of mutant red blood cells which are collateral(附属的) damage that occurs---a by-product of the cancer developing.”

The researchers used normal laboratory equipment to perform the test. This equipment looks for changes in the structure of millions of red blood cells. Those mutant cells lack a surface protein that healthy cells normally have. “The main purpose of the test is to look for very rare cells which have picked up a mutation. The number of mutant red blood cells in a healthy person is around 5 or so per million. You have to look at millions of red blood cells to detect those rare events. These numbers increase in cancer patients---they go up to 40 or 50 mutants on average.”

The researchers tested blood from about 300 people, all of whom have cancer of the esophagus(食道). Patients with esophageal cancer have high levels of mutant red blood cells. Jenkins says that at this point he is not sure if other cancers will produce similar results.

The hope is that the new test and other non-invasive methods could one day become part of commonly used medical methods. He says that using a battery, or series, of tests will be the best way to find out if a person has cancer. These new technologies could save millions of lives.

1. According to the test, how do scientists find out if a person has cancer?
A.By calculating the speed of changes in the structure.
B.By observing the surface protein.
C.By looking for changes in the number of mutant red blood cells.
D.By measuring the presence of cancer.
2. What does the underlined word “mutant” in the 3rd paragraph mean?

5 . Today, more and more Chinese consumers change the way they purchase products and prefer to make payments via smart devices as mobile apps have made purchases much easier, but security concerns remain, a PwC report said.

Nearly one-third of respondents in China chose mobile payment when shopping last year, doubling from 16 percent in 2014, according to the accounting firm's global retail (零售) survey. The figure appeared much higher than the world's average of 12 percent.

The popularity comes as a result of rapid growth of mobile payment options and an expanding mobile network, the report said.

Chinese have started to enjoy a wide range of mobile payment options that allow faster, securer payment through near field communication and QR code. Moreover, more advances have been seen in biometric technology, such as the use of fingerprints and facial recognition.

“As competition becomes fierce, mobile payment players are trying to attract users through the continuous development of technology and business modes,” said Yuqing Guo, PwC China's financial service consulting partner.

But security problems are ring. Data security was still seen as a huge problem, with leak of user information, payment fad (诈骗) and virus attacks appearing as the tree biggest challenges for the rapid growing field. The PwC report said over 60 percent of respondents were worried that their personal information was not safe.

Chinese government has introduced a series of policies to strengthen strict supervision (监督). In the meantime, people should avoid scanning QR codes from unknown sources and raise awareness of fraudulence.

The field still has vast space for growth due to technological advances and the rise of the tech-savvy younger generation, the report said, predicting China's retail and consumer product industry will post an annual growth rate of 7.5 percent between 2016 and 2020.

6 . Getting old might not be something that's yet to cross your mind. But aging is going to defeat us one day, so it's something we'd all like to control.

It would be great to have a long, healthy and happy life, and that's why scientists are constantly seeking out what we need to do to achieve it. We all know that regular exercise is good for us. But the latest piece of research might put a spring in your step if you're someone who walks at a fast pace. That's because the speed at which people walk in their 40s is a sign of how much their brains and their bodies are aging.

The BBC's Philippa Roxby writes that tests on 1,000 people found that slower walkers tended to show signs of "accelerated aging”. Their lungs, teeth and immune systems were in worse shape than those walking faster. The study also found not only did slower walkers bodies age more quickly, their faces looked older and they had smaller brains.

This might be seen as a wake-up call for people with a slower pace to work out and get fitter. But it might be too late; researchers say they were able to predict the walking speed of 45-year-olds using the results of intelligence, language and motor (运动)skills tests from when they were aged three. They also suggest that even in early life, there are signs showing which people will have a healthier life.

So, what's the point of knowing that a slower walking pace might mean a smaller brain? Researchers say measuring walking speed at a younger age and understanding what this might mean could be a way of testing treatments to slow human aging.

1. Why do scientists keep on studying?
A.To help people live a better life.B.To achieve their goals.
C.To find ways to stop aging.D.To find out who can live longer.
2. How did the researchers get the result?
A.By analyzing data.B.By doing experiments int he lab.
C.By doing surveys.D.By carrying out tests on people.
3. The findings can be used to .
A.treat certain illnessesB.find ways to slow aging
C.make people work harderD.urge people to walk slowly
4. Where is the text most likely from?
A.A diary.B.A guidebook.
C.A novel.D.A magazine.
