I’ve just finished my first day of senior high school and     1     我真的喜欢. I’ve been told that schoolwork will present more of a challenge in the years ahead, and that     2     the teachers will hold us to higher standards. This means I’ll have to put a lot of efforts into my studies. I’ll also need to be very careful about balancing my schoolwork and hobbies. This is all quite new and different from my life at junior high school, but I’m sure     3     我会应对这些挑战. In fact, I’m looking forward to being more independent and responsible for my own learning.     4     There is so much knowledge I need to acquire, so I will work harder than ever. I also plan to take advantage of every opportunity to improve my communication skills. I once studied in a British high school for one year. I was very happy with the school hours in Britain. I could get up an hour later than usual.

On the first day, all students attended an assembly in the school hall.     1     I sat next to a girl whose name was Diana. During the assembly, the headmaster told us that     2     the best way to earn respect was to devote ourselves to study. Because we had different classes in different classrooms,     3    对我来说记住所有的同学是件难事。I found the homework was not as heavy as what I used to get in China. However, it was a bit challenging. Luckily, my teachers gave me much encouragement. My English improved a lot, as I used English every day.

I liked cooking and also took many subjects. In the art class, I made a small sculpture.     4     I liked it very much though it didn’t look very beautiful.     5    我很幸运能够体验到这样一种不同的生活方式。

I want to speak to you about the state of the playground.     1     People are throwing their garbage everywhere. They leave garbage on the ground instead of using the garbage cans.     2     这对孩子们来说是一件危险的事情。Yesterday, a six-year-old kid fell and cut his hand on a broken bottle.     3     The boy was taken to hospital. Also, the garbage makes the playground look dirty, and no one wants to go there.

    4     I would like you to handle this problem right away. For example, you should buy more garbage cans and stop people from littering.
