1 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60左右的内容概要。

Getting up early has been regarded as a good habit since ancient times. Many years ago, people thought that if we went to bed early and got up early, we would be energetic the whole day. So, getting up early is of great importance to us all.

In fact, morning is the best time of a day. In the morning, the air is the freshest and people are usually in the best conditions. Many of us may have the experiences that we memorize some things more quickly and accurately in the morning than at any other time of the day.

Additionally, if we get up early and do some morning exercise or only take a short walk in the morning, without doubt we can build our bodies and become much healthier. That is why many people getting up early do physical exercise year after year.

We will also have enough time to make a plan and get ready for our work or study of the day if we get up early. For example, if everyone in the family gets up early, we will have enough time to prepare the breakfast for the whole family. Children will have enough time to catch the school bus, and husband will never forget to change his dirty shirt. Everything is in order. What a harmonious scene! However, if we get up late, we will probably have to do everything in a great hurry, making it in a mess.

Let us remember getting up early is a good habit. If you are a late riser, you may find it difficult to form the habit of getting up early. You will have to make efforts to do so. If you want to get up early, sleeping earlier the night before expect to be successful. Besides, you can set your alarm clock or ask someone who you know will be awake at that time to call you. If you stick to getting up early every day, you will certainly benefit a lot from it.

A long time ago, there was a huge (大的) apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it every day. He climbed to the tree, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow… He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.

Time went by…The little boy grew up and he no longer played around the tree. One day, the boy came back to the tree and looked sad. The boy told the tree that he wanted the toys but he didn't have money. The tree asked the boy to pick all the apples and sell them. The boy did it and left happily. He didn't come back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.

One day, the boy returned again and the tree was so excited. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I don’t have time to play. I have to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, I don’t have a house.” So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.

One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I’m said and getting tired. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” “Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.

Paragraph1:

Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years.

A few years ago, my mom went to the doctor to ask him about her neck, which had been a little bigger than usual. It turned out there was something t wrong with her lymph glands (淋巴结), and soon they scheduled Mom to have a biopsy (组织切片检查) on the seventh of September.

As soon as I found out, I was very angry, as September 7 is my birthday. They had promised to take me to see a spider- man movie and had a picnic in the yard.I shouted at her and everyone else, too. I even shouted at the dog. I started begging her to reschedule the biopsy, She gave me this look like she was about to cry and said, “I’m sorry, but I’ve done everything I can. I’ve got a disease. Could you forgive me?” Finally, I just yelled, “ I hate you!” and ran into my room, crying. I sat on my bed thinking —Why do things always have to happen to me? Everyone gets diseases. Why couldn’t mom just go to hospital another day?

For the next couple of weeks 1 remained silently angry. Deep down I knew 1 shouldn't act that way, but I did anyway. Anyone could see how sad I was making my mom. I knew it wasn't her fault, but I had to have someone to blame.

Finally, my birthday came. My parents left early in the morning for the hospital, and I was sent to our neighbor's house. No spider-man movie, no birthday present, and no picnic. Though I was taken good care of, I was not having a good time. “This isn't fair,” I thought. “This was supposed to be my day.”

My parents came home late that night. Mom walked in with a bandage on her neck. She sat down and rested her head on my dad's shoulder. It hurt so badly that it was difficult for her to talk.

5 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的概要。

Look inside any family home in the evening, and you might see a typical enough scene: Mom and Dad, each on their own laptop or tablet, streaming movies, catching up on work or maybe answering emails on their smartphones. Meanwhile, one child is chatting online with one school friend while texting another. The other is playing a video game with a friend on the other side of the city at the same time. Each member of the family is totally absorbed in his or her own piece of technology.

According to some experts, the effect of technology on human relationships is worrying as technology becomes a substitute for face-to-face human relationships. It appears to be the case that many people would much rather spend time with their electronic gadgets(电子产品) than with one another. Young people say it is difficult to get their parents’ attention and they have to compete with smartphones, tablets and other technology.

However, a report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project offers a more helpful and encouraging view, suggesting that far from replacing human contact, technology can actually better family relationships. Just over half of the 2,253 people surveyed agreed that technology had enabled them to increase their contact with distant family members and 47 percent said it had improved the communication with the people they lived with. Moreover, even the closest members of families need time away from each other at some point to seek their own interests. Family members who might otherwise have sat in separate rooms can now be in the same one while still occupying a different mental space.

Look back at our typical family scene above. Is it any different from four people reading their own books? Or is it driving families apart? Where technology will lead us remains to be seen. Yet there is no need to worry. As a matter of fact how it affects our family relationships depends on our attitude toward technology.

6 . 阅读下面短文, 根据所给情节进行续写, 使之构成一个完整的故事。

It was late spring When my mom and I were driving through the countryside. Back then I was 13 years old and always felt unhappy with Mom. However, little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.

A pot of flowers sat in her back seat, whose pleasant smell filled the car . Suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, my mom pulled over. “What are you doing? “I cried, fearing that the car had broken down and we’d be stuck there, so far from home. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. My mom hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat. “It’ll just be a minute, ”she called back through the open windows.

Impatiently, I cast my eyes towards the edge of the road before they settled on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed, as my mom reappeared empty-handed.

Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask, “Do you know someone there?” She shook her head. “Then what did you do with the flowers?” She smiled slightly, “I gave them to the receptionist(前台接待员). ”“What?”She laughed at my confusion. “I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially those who haven’t received any in a while. ”

I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we went on with our driving, I spoke again, “Did you leave your name? “To this she answered instantly, “No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me. ”

Suddenly, still thinking about Mom’s deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down! Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn’t know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passerby, since we had seen so few along the way.

7 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇 60 词左右的内容概要。
Over the past few years, there has been a big increase in the number of people sharing information online. In this article we will learn about some positive factors for people to share information online.
We often share information with our friends in the office or at home to educate, entertain or pleasantly surprise them. In this way we can connect with others. This is also true while sharing information online. If you look at the Facebook wall posts of your friends, you will realize that most of their updates are usually famous quotes, entertaining videos, inspirational images, funny jokes, etc. 94% of those who responded to a survey by the New York Times said they put a lot of thought into how the content they are sharing will be beneficial to others.
A lot of people share information online to represent their true self to the outside world. Some people, especially those who are shy and not comfortable talking about their areas of interest in the presence of others, find it extremely convenient to share that information online with like-minded individuals.
78% of the respondents in the study of The New York Times said they shared information online because it helps them develop better relationships. Today, a lot of people do not have the time to meet each other in person and the Internet has become a great substitute. A lot of people now “meet” each other online, rather than in conventional places like restaurants and pubs.
Lastly, when we share our thoughts online, we are actively engaging with the vast community of people who are a part of the World Wide Web. Sharing information will make a difference to the viewpoint of others, or add to their understanding about the world.

8 . It was a cold December day. After saying goodbye to his neighbor, DavidTom set out for a run with his dogTaz.As a professional athlete, Tom often went for training runs by himself, and had done this particular route many times before, but that day something unusual happened to him.

About an hour later, Tom hit some black ice. He found himself slipping down the rock face, which became steeper and steeper (陡峭的)until suddenly he was in free fall. He fell 60 feet into the canyon (峡谷),landing on grass and dry branches. If he'd missed them, there was no way he would have survived. He could feel his legs,so he knew he wasn't paralyzed (瘫痪的),but he was in great pain. Taz had managed to find his way back to Tom, so Tom knew there must be a way out of the canyon, but he couldn't stand or even crawl (爬行). He later learned that he had broken his pelvis (骨盆).

Tom shouted for help, and tried to pull himself forward. Every inch was an effort. It took him five hours to go a quarter of a mile. Eventually it got so dark that he couldn't see where he was going. He decided to stay next to a river which he could drink some water from. All he had on him were his jogging clothes, a water bottle, two boxes of medicine, a bar of chocolate, and a shower cap which adventure racers often wear to prevent heat loss.

At night, the temperature dropped below freezing. Tom couldn't go to sleep or he would die, so he stayed awake lifting his head a few inches, over and over. Throughout the night,Taz curled up next to him and kept him company. The next morning, he couldn't move any more. He tried to stay positive. He was sure somebody would find he was missing or hear him screaming for help. But there was nobody around.

Have you heard an old saying “The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence”? It means other places often look better, more interesting than the place where you live. “Let’s go to KFC for dinner and then watch some Japanese cartoons!” We all know it: more and more Chinese kids love American and Japanese food and movies. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring(忽视)Chinese culture and, instead, buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating western holidays.

Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good. As for holidays, Christmas is nice, but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with the Mid-Autumn Festival. China has lots of cool things in its culture: calligraphy, Beijing Opera, quick meals on the streets, and even Jay Chou! And let’s not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best: its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China.

It’s good to enjoy other cultures and learn from them, but they can never replace your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener.

Although some people become worried about that, I don’t think they should. Will we get more powerful without learning from other countries? Will Chinese people live more happily without American fast food? Besides, it’s fun to learn about different cultures. Chinese kids can learn about other cultures and have fun, but they also need to learn more about their own culture. Be proud of Chinese culture and of being Chinese!

10 . Justin and Mary woke up early, even though they were vacationing at their uncle's lake house. The night before, Uncle Thomas told them about the Foggy Figure that haunts (经常出没于) the lake. Justin and Mary were determined to see the ghostly creature before their vacation was over.

“Is it foggy outside?” Mary asked, as Justin carefully looked out the window.

“Yup! Let's go!” Justin let go of the curtain and rushed to the door with Mary.

It was only 5:00 a. m., so everyone else in the house was still asleep. As they moved quietly through the kitchen to the back door, Mary sniffed the air. It had the faint scent (气味) of coffee and something sweet. A sense of hunger struck her. "Maybe we should first have a breakfast, "she thought. But she still followed Justin out the door, down the back steps, and out onto the boat dock (码头). The fog had settled over the lake, making it impossible to see anything.

"Do you see anything?" Mary asked, moving forward for a closer look.

"Nothing. Do you think Uncle Thomas was just trying to scare us with that story?”

Uncle Thomas did have a good imagination. He'd been telling Justin and Mary stories for years, but this was the first scary story. Mary had a feeling it wasn't made up.

Mary shook her head. “Remember what Uncle Thomas said? The Foggy Figure haunts the lake. We're on the dock. Maybe that's why we can't see him. The people in the story were in boats.”

“You want to take a boat ride on the water?” Justin asked.

Mary looked around, trying to find Uncle Thomas's boat, but the fog was too thick.

“Mom and Dad will be really angry if we go out on the lake alone in this fog,” Justin said.

Mary shrugged (耸肩). “Maybe we don't have to go anywhere. We could sit in the boat while it's docked. That wouldn't be dangerous.”

“Okay.” Justin moved toward the end of the dock. He could barely see the outline of the boat. “I’ll go first.”
