1 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

My family used to live in London. But then a few years ago my father got transferred (调动) and we came to a small town in Scotland. Everything was new here. The neighborhood, and the school. I was not liking it much here. At this new school, nobody knew me. As I was shy, I had difficulty making friends and felt lonely all the time.

One day, when I was sitting in my seat, a girl came to me and introduced herself. It was Vivian. She smiled at me and asked if I wanted to have lunch with her. That day, we spent a great time together. Slowly, we became best friends.

In the coming month of October, it was my best friend’s birthday. I and other classmates in the school had planned a day out for her. We all decided to take her to a nearby picnic spot in the afternoon and give her a surprise party. Everybody contributed a little to the cake and snacks. After school, we took her to the picnic spot. She cut the cake and we all enjoyed the snacks. After everybody had eaten, we all decided to enjoy the boat ride.

It was a pleasant day. The lake was small but beautiful. We were all singing together and cheering up. In the clear blue water of the lake, we could see the colorful fishes swimming rapidly. There were also ducks adding to the beauty of the scene.

Everybody started clapping looking at those pretty birds. Vivian also became quite excited. Just when she was trying to touch the ducks, she lost her balance. Before anyone could do anything, she fell into the lake.

2 . 读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Mary waited anxiously for her turn in the empty dressing room. Never had she been so nervous before. This competition was of great importance to her comeback. “If I can win today,” she said to herself, “I can dance on the national stage next month.” Three months ago, her left arm was seriously injured in a car accident. After the medical treatment, she began to recover slowly. She practiced over and over again in order to regain her dancing skills.

“Hi, Mary,” in rushed her friend Jessica. “How is your arm? Is it going to influence your performance?”

“I guess it can be tolerated for I am to win the match.” said Mary with a determined look.

“Admirable! But I hear that a girl called Linda is really gifted and strong. She can be your real well-matched competitor. Come on!”

After Jessica left, Mary decided to practice her most difficult spin (旋转). “If I don’t try harder, I won’t grasp this chance.” She thought. But her arm began to hurt, making her worried. “Mary, what makes you think you have a chance tonight?” she said to herself. After the pain was gone, she continued to warm up.

A slim girl hurried in and put down an equipment bag on the chair. Then, she took out her dance dress quickly and put it on skillfully. Seeing Mary, she smiled politely and said “Hi, I’m Linda. I am the next one to you!” Mary nodded in reply but felt uncomfortable. “This is just my competitor. Because of her, I may lose tonight.” Her mind was wandering when Linda let out a scream, “Oh, God, I can’t find my music tape!” Linda searched her bag but in vain (徒劳). “It may be missing on the way.” With these words, she then rushed out.

“I hate living here,” Karen said as she helped her mother pull up weeds. “I wish we had never moved to this place.”“Karen, you’re just unhappy because you miss your old friends.” Mrs. Jackson said, “If you believe you can, you’ll make lots of new friends.” Karen sighed. They had been living in their new house for almost a week and so far she had made only one new friend.

Suddenly she noticed a colorful little rock on the ground. She pushed the loose dirt aside. It wasn’t a rock at all but a ring. Karen slipped the ring onto her finger, admiring it. It looked beautiful and fit her finger exactly.

“It’s so hot,” she said, “I sure wish I had something cold to drink.” Just then Mrs.Jackson came out carrying two big glasses of lemonade. “Let’s take a break,” she said, handing one to her daughter.“Lemonade!” Karen exclaimed. “Just what I was wishing for,” she said secretly. Now that she knew her ring was magic, she would have to be very careful about what she wished. Her next best wish must be a friend because she really needed a good friend.

Then she looked out the window and saw a girl about her age standing on the sidewalk and pulling at a dog. Without thinking, Karen said, “I wish that girl was my friend.” She slowly pulled off the ring and laid it back on the dresser. “Now all l have to do is to go outside and meet her,” she said to herself. It worked! The girl happened to be in the same grade as Karen. The whole afternoon saw the girls playing with the little brown dog happily until dinner time.

There is no way they just drove into that water, thought Corion Evans. The 16-year-old was hanging out with his friend in a parking area underneath a Moss Point Mississippi, highway in July when a car with three teenage girls inside drove off a boat ramp(斜坡)and into the Pascagoula River. It came to rest some 20 feet from land and then sank. “The driver of the car”, Evans thought, must have blindly followed wrong directions from her GPS.

It was around 2:30 a.m. by the time Evans and his friend Karon Bradley got to the river’s edge. In the darkness they could hardly make out the girls holding tightly to the roof, the only part of the car still, barely, above water. But they could hear screaming.

Evans took off his shirt and shoes, threw his phone down, and then dived into the water, a river he knew alligators(短吻鳄)called home. He helped the first girl he saw and, keeping her head above water led her ashore.

Just then, a man called out. Police Officer Garry Mercer had arrived. He dived into the river to help another of the girls. But halfway back to shore she panicked and went underwater. pulling Mercer down with her. Evans jumped back into the water and helped them until they could stand. “If he hadn’t been there, who knows?” Mercer told the Washington Post.

There was still one girl in the water. Cora Watson, 19, could not swim. She was drinking water, struggling to stay afloat. And scared.

6 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

It was in New Hampshire. Cody was an 11-year-old boy. Just like other boys, he enjoyed running around the lake, and sometimes picked yellow daisies for his mother’s kitchen table along the paths. But the thing he liked best was fishing. He went fishing whenever he had got a chance and he was proud of his fishing skills.

On the day before that year’s bass (巴斯鱼) season opened, he and his father were fishing early in the evening, catching sunfish and perch(河鲈) with worms. Then he tied on a small silver lure (鱼饵) and practised casting. The lure hit the water, stirring up coloured ripples in the sunset, and then silver ripples as the moon rose over the lake. It was an unusually quiet evening The gentle wind from the lake was so refreshing.

After what seemed a long time, Cody noticed his fishing pole (鱼竿) doubled over, and he knew at once that something huge was on the other end. His father watched with admiration as the boy skillfully brought the fish beside the bank.

Finally, he very carefully lifted the exhausted fish from the water. It was the largest one he had ever seen, but it was a bass.

The boy and his father looked at the handsome fish, gills (鳃) playing back and forth in the moonlight. The father lit a match and looked at his watch. It was 10 pm—two hours before the season opened. He looked at the bass, then at Cody.

“You’ll have to put the fish back, son,” he said.

“Dad!” cried the boy.

“There will be other fish,” said his father gently but firmly.

“Not as big as this one,” cried the boy again.

Willie’s aunt sent him a little writing book as a birthday present. There was a place in the book for a pencil. Willie thought a great deal of this little book, and always kept it in his pocket.

One day, his mother was very busy. He called his dog and said, ”Come, Caper, let’s have a play."

When Willie’s mother missed him, she went to the door and looked out, but could not see him anywhere. Knowing that Caper was with him, she thought they would come back before long.

She waited an hour, but they still did not come. When she came to the gate by the road, she met Mr. Lee, Willie’s father, and told him how long their son had been gone. Mr. Lee thought he must have gone to sleep under the trees. So they went to all the trees under which Willie was in the habit of playing, but he was nowhere to be found.

As a matter of fact, Willie and Caper went to the pasture field. It was peaceful and quiet. Deep green grass looked like a beautiful woven blanket spreading out upon the ground. Attracted by the beauty, they ran around. All too soon, Willie came to an edge of a shaft (坑) he knew it. He sat down and bent over to see how deep it was. Suddenly, he lost his balance and fell in. He tried very hard to get out, but could not.

When the good little dog saw that his master was in the shaft, he would not leave him but ran round and round, reaching down and trying to pull him out. While Caper was biting Willie by the coat sleeves, a piece of soil gave way under his feet. He fell in too. Willie called for his father and mother as loud as he could. However, he was so far away from the house that no one could hear him.

He cried and called till it was dark, and then he lay down on the ground, Caper close behind him. It was not long before Willie cried himself to sleep.

8 . 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Of all the people in Lily’s life, one in particular stands out. As Lily thinks of Shanda, a smile spreads across her face. She feels loved and grateful more than ever that she has such a teacher and friend. Thanks to Shanda’s presence, Lily has become a good dancer now.

Eleven years of dance and going on twelve that year, she thought it would end up like any other year. She would never win any prize in the dance contest. She might be stuck in any empty spot and didn’t know what to do with her next dance move. But little did she know that year would change her completely.

That year, Lily felt lucky that Shanda would choreograph (编舞) for her dance. Lily expected to work with Shanda, a young talented dancer, to have an okay dance, but she never expected she would have such an impressive influence on her way to dance.

The moment Lily walked into the marble floored, wall-to-wall mirrored rooms, she already felt like Shanda had faith in her. Shanda smiled at her with appreciative eyes. In the following days, Shanda always encouraged her, “Work to the best of your ability and keep going.” When she wanted to give up, Shanda told her that the real importance of dance was to love it.

Through their hard work and devotion, not only did Lily’s ability to dance grow, but also their friendship grew. Shanda became more than a teacher to Lily. She was also a close friend that Lily could turn to for anything. Shanda gave her encouragement and was always there to cheer Lily up when she felt down.

As the year quickly came to an end, it was high time for Lily to show her dance to the audience. As she walked to the backstage filled with other dancers warming up and expecting their performance, she prayed for a good performance that would convey her improvement. The rhythmic music before her rang in her cars. She waited anxiously for her turn. Finally, after what seemed like days, the hostess announced “Lily”.

9 . 阅读下面短文, 根据所给情节进行续写, 使之构成一个完整的故事, 词数80左右.

I am Andrew. My best friend Matthew has stopped talking to me. We have been best friends since childhood and play together in the school football team.

Last week, we had an important match against another school. The other team was super. I was determined to win, but Matthew was playing badly. He could not keep pace with the game, and as a result of his careless playing, we lost.

Afterwards, I got really angry with him, and I told him I thought he was not trying hard enough. He got annoyed, saying it wasn’t his fault even if he couldn’t play as well as me, and that I shouldn’t talk to him in this manner. Then we both started shouting at each other and it turned into a horrible argument.

Since we argued, he hasn’t spoken to me even though we sit next to each other in class. It’s really awkward. He is usually cheerful and outgoing, but he has been really quiet and looks sad. The things he said hurt me too, but he has not apologized to me.

One day, we met at the school door.

10 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Milo is a rescue dog, adopted by twenty-year-old Mary Swift. But the dog is also a rescuer.

One morning in November 2021, Swift was ready to go jogging as usual, with Milo following her happily. To her surprise, as soon as she opened the front door, Milo took off running towards the gate quickly. It was very unusual. He always ran after his master.

Outside the gate, Milo was looking around the neighborhood, looking a little alert. Suddenly, he ran straightly to the house across the street, barking loudly and sniffing around. He seemed unsatisfied with this house. He quickly ran to the one next door. He stopped there and turned to Swift, barking more loudly, with his tail swinging crazily. Swift followed him, shouting sharply “Stop, Milo!” Some passing neighbors were looking disapprovingly (不满地) at them.

Swift was kind of embarrassed. Not everyone wanted a strange dog on their property and liked hearing a dog’s barks in the quiet morning. She tried to get Milo to go back, but Milo seemed not to follow the master’s order. He started to scratch on the front door. Swift wondered, “Why is he trying to break into the house?” She looked at the house, which belonged to Sherry Starr, who was 85 years old and seldom walked out of her house. It was the time for her to trim her bushes in the garden. Somehow, she wasn’t there that day.

Although Swift was a little doubtful, she still tried to drag Milo away. But at this time she could hear a sound coming through an open upstairs window.

注意:
1.续写词数应为80左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
