Edina Habibovic, 22, graduated from Chamberlain University's College of Nursing in 2020. Her mother, Sevala Habibovic, 46, died in 2017 after a two year fight with breast cancer.
“I thought the medical field wasn't for me. Then, my mom got sick and I had all the experience going in and out of the hospital, ” Edina told Good Morning America. “When my mom passed away, I thought, ‘I want to do this.’”she said.
Sanja Josipovic, who at the time worked as a home health nurse with Northwestern Medicine in Winfield, Illinois, cared for Sevala inside her home. They often chatted and shared the latest news with each other over six months of care.
“She was most worried about Edina because she was young and hadn't finished school yet, ” Sanja said. “We are like sisters; we care about and trust each other. She was a powerful and strong minded woman. She wasn't scared to die; she was just worried about her kids and husband.”
Edina said her mother lived for being with her family and taking care of people. “When Sanja was working, my mom would still try to make her something to eat, no matter how sick she was, ” Edina added. When Sevala's life was coming to an end, she asked Sanja to take her place at her youngest daughter's nursing school graduation. “That was the only thing she was going to miss. Edina's graduation, ” said Sanja, who is a mother of three herself. She agreed.
Due to COVID - 19, there was no graduation or pinning ceremony. Edina's manager at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital decided to host a pinning ceremony for her and have Sanja present the pin. “Sanja has fulfilled her promise, ” Edina said.

4 . You may or may not know that Steve Buscemi was a firefighter from 1980 to 1984.
The day after the attacks(袭击) on the Twin Towers, he appeared at his old fire station ready for work. He spent the next week doing 12-hour shifts and helping his former workmates search for the bodies of the missing. When people tried to interview him, he at once refused.
Buscemi had worked as a New York City Department (FDNY) firefighter in Little Italy. He stayed in touch with some of his old fire company workmates, even when he went on to be a Hollywood superstar. He understood how many firefighters were missing along with the rest of the innocent(无辜的) people who’d been affected by the terrorist attacks, and just wanted to help out.
Some time later, he broke his silence and said: “It was an honour to be able to do it. It was great to connect with the firehouse I used to work with and with some of the guys I worked alongside. And it was greatly helpful for me because while I was working, I didn’t really think about it as much, feel it as much. It wasn’t until I stopped that I really felt the full effect of what had happened. It would have been much harder for me to get through it if I hadn’t been able to do that.” He has since made a documentary in an attempt to encourage others to join the FDNY. “ A Good Job” also has a message to present firefighters--- don’t be afraid to ask for help after any harm they may have suffered.

5 . The sun was rising when Daryl’s delivery (递送) truck with goods reached the highway. This was the best time of day to drive, when the roads were wide open and empty. He felt sure he was going to make it to Los Angeles before midnight.
Then he saw it, a large lump in the middle of the road. He stopped and found the lump was a girl. He tried shaking her awake but she wouldn’t move, so he carried her to the side of the road. At least she wouldn’t be run over (辗过) there. Now she was someone else’s problem because he didn’t have time to be a hero. He climbed back into his truck but as he looked in his mirror and saw the girl still lying by the side of the road, he knew he couldn’t leave her. Daryl put her into his truck and drove to the next town.
An hour later he arrived at the police station. After explaining what had happened, he prepared to leave, but the policeman said he needed to make a report. Daryl knew it was impossible for him to get to Los Angeles on time now.
Three hours later the report was done and the girl had recovered somewhat. She explained that she had fallen on the highway, weak from hunger. She also thanked Daryl for saving her life. Daryl told her that he had been happy to help, but as he left the police station he knew his boss wouldn’t be happy.
Just as he was about to start the car, his mother called. “Have you seen?” she said, “a bridge collapsed two hours ago, the one that you drive over on the way to Los Angeles.”

8 . Kaydence Henslee, 13, was spending her spring break visiting Disney World with her family. During a pool day at their hotel, she noticed a small unconscious(无意识的) body in the deep end of the water.
“I was nervous and afraid, but my instincts(本能) kicked in,” Henslee told KRQE. “I just saw her floating. She wasn’t on the bottom when I was there.”
The victim(受害人) was three-year-old Haven Williams, who was also spending a vacation with her parents down in Florida. Her mother Ashley stepped away from the pool for a moment: “I just remember seeing another woman run across and cry into the bar area for someone to call 911 because a baby had just drowned...I didn’t think it was my baby.”
Henslee helped get Haven out of the pool as her “lip turned purple” and Ashley could then see it was her own daughter from the child’s swimsuit. An employee at a children’s hospital in Missouri herself, Ashley recalled the “feeling of losing my child.”
A heroic bystander helped Henslee and performed CPR until Haven could be transported to the hospital. Though things were touch-and-go, Haven is now expected to make a full recovery. Henslee remained modest about her actions. “I knew it was the right thing to do to help someone out,” she said. She even plans on getting CPR certified in light of the situation.
Since the near-drowning accident, Haven has stayed in touch with her rescuer. Henslee even sent her a gift for her birthday. “The fact is that they can still celebrate a birthday this week and all the holidays. Maybe they can be lifelong friends,” Henslee’s father Matt said.

Maybe there is a Father Christmas!
Anna stood anxiously staring at the pouring rain while little Molly looked up at a pretty doll in the window of the toy shop on the edge of town. "Mummy, "Molly said, "that's the doll I would like Father Christmas to bring me." A tear rolled down Anna's cheek and she knew it would be impossible this year. They were supposed to start a new life in Spain one and a half years ago before her husband Tim was cruelly taken from them by a car. Their small amount of savings were quickly spent on Tim’s funeral costs and necessities, leaving her in heavy debt.
To her relief, the local people had helped to support her through these difficult times and especially Juan, owner of the local grocery store, a single man, who would often put something special into her shopping bag, even though he himself had been going through a difficult period — his mother died of cancer and he was busy handling the sale of his mother’s house on the edge of town.
As the rain stopped, Anna and Molly started walking home. She was thinking about buying an umbrella after paying the rent with her upcoming wage when Molly shouted excitedly, "Mummy, what’s that on the road?" Anna looked down and saw a bag lying in the water, which was obviously lost because of the sudden rain.
They got home and dried themselves before Anna focused on the bag. Opening it and seeing bundles of money inside, she stood back in shock and cried, "Is this a present from kindness? I can pay off my debt, buy Molly’s favorite doll and my new umbrella ...” Then reality set in, Anna was a very moral person and would never steal even the slightest little thing, let alone bundles of money. She went to bed with all thoughts in her mind.
