1 . Yellowstone Poster Exhibition to Be on View at UW’s Coe Library

A first-of-its-kind exhibition that focuses on the history of Yellowstone National Park posters will be on display at the University of Wyoming’s Coe Library beginning Tuesday, February 1.

“Wonderland Illustrated” will present posters and poster-style illustrations of the park spanning from the 1870s through 2022. The exhibition will be located on Level 3 of Coe Library. It will be on view through Tuesday, May 31.

The exhibition takes place at the same time as this year’s 150th anniversary of the creation of Yellowstone National Park. The posters in the exhibition serve the purpose of both advertising and art.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Yellowstone collectors Jack and Susan Davís, and Larry and Thea Lancaster to bring this exhibition to the University of Wyoming as part of year-long celebrations recognizing Yellowstone’s 150th anniversary,” says Tamsen Hert, head of UW Libraries’ Emmett D. Chisum Special Collections. “This exhibition involves the history of printing, art, photography and advertising over 16 decades. The images reproduced are found on travel brochures, postcards and maps—many of which are held in our collections.”

One poster from the exhibition—Henry Wellge’s “Yellowstone National Park” from1904—was recently purchased with donated funds and is now part of UW Libraries’ Emmett D. Chisum Special Collections. Wellge, a productive bird’s-eye-view artist, designed the piece for the Northern Pacific Railroad, which used it to advertise the park. This is a unique piece, as posters such as this one were printed on soft paper and very few have survived.

The Long Man of Wilmington

On the grassy ground of Windover Hill—a 235-foot figure known as the Long Man has been here for centuries. Archaeological researchers believe The Long Man of Wilmington actually dates to around the 16th century. If you’re feeling active, hike from The Long Man of Wilmington to East Sussex’s other chalk-carved figure, the Litlington White Horse.

Lewes

This town is just the right size to explore in a day, though do consider staying overnight to make good use of the local restaurants, pubs and wine bars. Lewes is one of the best places to shop in Sussex with a delightful mix of independent, antique and high street brands. If you’re visiting during summer, pack your bathers for a visit to Pells Pool, the oldest known freshwater swimming pool in the UK. You’ll need to pre-book a session.

1. Tell an exciting, heart-warming or funny story about something that has happened to you or someone you know. Your story should be written in the first person.

2. Don’t be afraid to speak from the heart. We do let you use a pen-name for your story.

3. Keep your story to 1,200 words or less.

4. We love poems that tell a story, but we do not publish poems that seem overly focused on rhyming (押韵) or those which read more like greetings cards.

1. The only way to submit your stories is via our website. If you have any problems when trying to fill out the form to submit your work, please contact us.

2. Please submit stories that have not been previously published. The only exception to this is if your work has only been published in a small local publication with limited circulation (发行量) or on your own blog.

3. Please do not send us any book manuscripts (手稿), unless through a literary agent (作家代理人), as they will be automatically discarded.

Please complete all fields in the submission form. After you press the SUBMIT button, wait for the next screen to come up with a message that says: “Thank you! Your information has been received.” This is the only confirmation that your story has been entered into our database.

We do not send rejection letters, and we occasionally will save a submission for consideration for a future book. But in general, if you have not heard from us 60 days prior to the book’s on-sale date, that probably means we have decided not to use your story.

If we choose your story for a future book, we will notify (通知) you by email and request your permission to print it. You will be paid $200 one month after the publication of the book and receive ten free copies of the book your story appears in. You will also be entitled to buy books from us at half price.

10 . Delhi is one of the main cities of the country India and you can find museums related to many things here. One such museum is related to our Indian railways and trains. In the city of Delhi, Railway has constructed its Rail Museum.     1    . They also have a different kind of railway line installed for visitors to ride.

    2    . It is used for most of the traveling related to a long way. The museum was set up in 1977 and it has been open to the public since then. It is constructed over a large area of 10 acres. The maintenance (维修) is done regularly by the authorities. You can observe the history of the railway by looking at various kinds of railway engines.

    3    , mostly transported here after retirement. The museum walks you through the development of railway engines over the history of more than 160 years. For the people who are keen to know the history and various models of engines, it is a must-visit. From the royal engines to the steam ones, you will find them all. The engines used in the European times are also placed here for visitors to see. You can spend a couple of hours here and enjoy various activities.

Delhi Rail Museum is well connected with the rest of the city.    4    , and kids will love it here. There is a miniature rail track which is connecting various big cities of India, surrounded by glass railings.
