1 . The Pathway and River Cleanup is a yearly event involving (涉及，需要) thousands of volunteers who generously (慷慨地) donate their time to help clean up Calgary.
The 2024 Pathway and River Cleanup will take place from Sept. 9 to Sept. 11, 2024.
Volunteer Registration (登记，注册)
To volunteer for the Pathway and River Cleanup, you must be:
*12 years or older
*Accompanied by a parent or guardian (监护人) (if you’re between 12 and 17 years old)
*Able to commit to (投入，致力于) three hours of cleanup on one of the three event days.
You are encouraged to register as a group (minimum 10 people) with a designated (指定的) leader. If you do not have a group, you can join a team led by Calgary Parks staff.
Volunteers may request a specific (特定的，指定的) cleanup location at the time of registration. We will do our best to satisfy specific location requests. If you do not have a preferred cleanup location, one will be given to you.
Remember to register online. Registration in person is not accepted.
Group Leaders
Each group must have a designated leader. New group leaders (新组长) are required to attend a one-hour, online orientation session (入职培训). Returning group leaders (老组长) must attend the orientation session every three years, but must complete yearly online training.
Group leaders will be responsible for:
*Conducting a group member orientation session before event day to provide safety training.
*Ensuring the safe and effective cleanup of the designated cleanup area. Risks will be minimized as much as possible. However, volunteers may come in contact with rocky shorelines, sharp items and illegal campsites.

In the Kennedy Space Center, youth groups and visitors making private bookings can have after-hours opportunity to enjoy hands-on challenges, watch a 3D movie in an IMAX theatre, and go on a Q&A session with a former NASA astronaut who’s travelled into space. 3 . Four Computer Science Summer Programs in 2024
Wolfram High School Summer Research Program
The program aims to introduce high schoolers to programming, computational thinking and technology. Students participate in lectures and activities led by Wolfram instructors and build hands-on experience developing a project from ideation (构思) to completed products. About 50 students are admitted to the program annually.

UC Santa Barbara Research Mentorship Program
The program enables participants to do hands-on experience, university-level research in various fields, including computer science. Located in the heart of the Rhine Valley’s wine-making country, Rudesheim is a top destination throughout the year. However, once the night draws in and Christmas comes into view, the town takes on a special atmosphere. Those arriving by riverboat can go to the Christmas Market of Nations, which is filled with stores selling gifts and traditional festive dishes from all over the world.
Tromso, Norway
Tromso has been a cultural center with its Arctic Cathedral, the home of regular concerts and events. It’s over the festive season, when there is no daylight, that the city, located high above the Arctic Circle, becomes a must-see. Visitors can taste a hot chocolate before taking the cable car (缆车) above the city to catch sight of the northern lights.

5 . Antarctic charity offers the ideal job — if you don’t mind noisy penguins
A heritage charity is advertising vacancies at the bottom of the world. Four candidates will be chosen to fill the five-month role at Port Lockroy-the “Penguin Post Office”. The nearly-80-year-old building is on British-owned Goudier Island, which is about the size of a football field, featured in hundreds of lovely penguins, breathtaking landscapes and the chance to support conservation efforts in one of the most remote corners of the planet.

“I made my first video in 2019,” Zhao says. “My original purpose was to find a way to reduce my emotional stress.
