Macro Botanical Photography & Bouque t Making

Join us to learn how to make your own bouquet and then gain some tips on how to photograph your flowers to make their beauty last. All levels welcome and no previous photography education necessary. Bring your DSLR camera, and ensure you have its basic working knowledge as we will not be able to help onsite. You will leave with a flower bouquet and macro photography tips booklet to ensure you’ve got the essential knowledge.

Virtual Tai Chi Meditation at Home

“Move like a great river; be still like a mountain” instructs the age-old description of the meditative exercise and movement art of Tai Chi Chuan. This class offers standing movements and seated practices rooted within the Chinese tradition of Tai Chi and Chi Kung for the enrichment of body, mind and spirit. All physical abilities welcome, including those in need of chair-based practice.

2 . Volunteering has changed over these past few years and virtual volunteering is here to stay! Find your perfect remote opportunity by becoming a Sense Virtual Buddying volunteer.

The Role of a Virtual Buddy (朋友)

Sense matches volunteers with disabled people who have similar interests to ensure you’ll have lots of fun together. Once matched with a buddy, you will get to know each other remotely through video calls, phone calls, texting, emails or letters. You’ll arrange weekly sessions and plan fun things to do together. You could be gaming, doing arts and crafts, playing music, planting - there are so many possibilities! We will provide you with weekly themed activities to help to support you in planning your interactions with your buddy.

What We Can Offer You

Before you start your volunteering role, we’ll make sure that you’ve had the training you need to feel confident. This will be delivered online and through video calls. While you’re volunteering with us as a virtual buddy, you’ll also get a written account of your volunteering and references (if required), reimbursement (报销) of pre-agreed expenses (up to £ 25). and great opportunities to develop new skills and get to know new people while making a real difference to a person’s life.

Who We Are Looking for

We need volunteers who are good at expressing their ideas and feelings and are passionate about supporting people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world. We’re also always looking for volunteers who have knowledge or experience of British Sign Language. You don’t need to have previous experience of volunteering or nursing disabled people.

Willem de Kooning e l’Italia

One of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Willem de Kooning is the subject of a major exhibition(展览) exploring his time in 1959 and 1969 and the impact it had on his works. The show will bring together around 75 works, making this the largest   presentation of the artist ever organized in Italy.

Rise of the Sunken Sun

This photography exhibition by Greenlandic artist Inuuteq Storch marks the first time that the Danish Pavilion has showcased both a major exhibition by an artist from Greenland and a presentation on photography. With over 200 images, Storch's project aims to tell the Greenlanders' history, not seen through the visitors' eyes, but through the Greenlanders' own.

The Rooted Nomad

This exhibition will examine the life and works of M. F. Husain, a modernist painter called “India’s Picasso”. Celebrating his talent as an artist, thinker and writer, the show exhibits his paintings, photographs, letters and parts from his films and poetry that shaped his vision of India as a richly layered cultural nation.

The Arch within the Arc

The exhibition in Italy of Houston-based artist Rick Lowe takes place at Palazzo Grimani, home to a large collection of 16th-century Greek and Roman sculpture(雕像). Inspired by the architecture of the Museo di Palazzo Grimani and the experience of moving through Venice and its waterways, the exhibition features new paintings by Rick Lowe that reflect his consideration of the arch(拱) in architecture.

Role: After-school Helper

Responsibilities: Volunteers work besides killed youth workers, family specialists, and educators to create a safe and stimulating space where children are motivated to develop the academic skills and emotional strengths necessary for success in the classroom and in life. Day today volunteer tasks could include providing homework help, teaching a new skill, or participating in scheduled activities.

Role: Study Mate

Responsibilities: Study Mates Connect (SMC) is a virtual tutoring program that offers individualized tutoring sessions in Math and English to school-aged children. Volunteers teach children online at an appointed time each week, and they receive curricular support from SMC staff members. Volunteers make a year-long commitment to tutoring so they can minimize interruptions to the children’s education.

Days and Times: Flexible, but 1-2 hours weekly in the afternoon/evening is needed.

This workshop is perfect for high school students in architecture and design. In order to prepare them for a career in architecture, the two-week program promises to provide the study of the discipline at the college level while introducing them to life on a college campus.

Immersion (沉浸) into ASL
Dates: June 15 — 22 (overnight); June 24 — 29 (day camp)
Location: Gallaudet University

This program is designed for students who are either beginning or intermediate (中级的) signers and want to become more fluent. Participants will work with advanced ASL (American Sign Language) instructors and their assistants who are similarly deaf or hard of hearing, learn about deaf culture and history, and explore the nation’s capital. Students may participate in a residential or day camp program.

Conway School of Nursing
Dates: July 15 — 19
Location: George Washington University

This one-week program hopes to introduce students to careers in nursing. Taught by the nursing teachers and aided by upper-class nursing students, participants will learn about the moral values guiding the work.

High School Drama Institute
Dates: July 8 — 26
Location: Columbia University

Though this intensive three-week program is super-selective and a limited number of students are chosen to participate, it is a perfect fit for students with a passion for the performing arts. Participants develop acting skills focusing on voice, movement, and gesture, strengthen their dancing and singing skills, and learn what it takes to prepare for college auditions (试演).
