1 . The Linda Hall Library is open to the public free of charge during regular library hours. There is no charge for getting a library card. Patrons can request and use materials in the library, provided the items are in good physical condition.

 To sign up for a borrowing account, you must be a resident of the Kansas City area. You have to provide a current state or federal photo ID with a KC area street address.

 A photo ID plus utility bill in your name is needed if the current address differs from that on the ID.

 Patrons must show their LHL library card or a photo ID at the time of check-out.

 Individuals living within the Kansas City area as defined below:

Missouri — Bates, Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Johnson, Iafayette, Platte, Ray

2 . Discover Nature Schools Programs

Becoming Bears(Kindergarten－2 grade)

By becoming baby bears, children learn from their “parent” to survive the seasons. Kids will find safety in the spring and learn kinds of food bears eat during the summer, and then create a cave for winter hibernation(冬眠)．After learning the skills needed to survive, students will go out of the cave as an independent black bear able to care for themselves.(1.5－2 hours)

Whose Clues?(3－5 grade)

Kids will discover how plants and animals use their special structures to survive. Through outdoor study of plants and animals, kids will recognize their special structures and learn how they enable species to eat, avoid their enemies and survive. Using what they have learned, kids will choose one species and tell how they survive in their living places.(3－4 hours)

Winged Wonders(3－5 grade)

Birds add color and sound to our world and play an important ecological role. Students will learn the basics of birds, understand the role birds play in food chains and go bird­watching using field guides and telescopes. Students will do hands­on activities. Students will use tools to build bird feeders, allowing them to attract birds at home.(3－4 hours)

Exploring Your Watershed(6－8 grade)

We all depend on clean water. Examining how our actions shape the waterways around us. Go on a hike to see first­hand some of the challenging water quality problems in a city. Students will test the water quality to determine the health of an ecosystem.

·Each program is taught for a class with at least 10 students.

·All programs include plenty of time outdoors. So please prepare proper clothing, sunscreen and insect killers for children.

If you want to organize a TEDx event, you’ll need to apply for a TEDx license. No one is qualified to organize an event without being granted a license by TED.

So you want to organize a TEDx event?

Before you start, you should know the TEDx rules, which are non-negotiable and mandatory.

※ We value and welcome young organizers. However, if you’re under 18, you must be supervised by an adult.

※ TED allocates one location-based license series per application. Your TEDx event must happen in the city for which you received the license.

※ Your event must maintain the spirit of TED itself: focused on the power of ideas to change attitudes or lives. Your event may not exceed one day in length.

※ Up to 100 individuals may attend your event. Only those who have attended an official TED conference may organize an event with more than 100 attendees. Even those who have attended one or multiple TEDx events or TEDWomen are not qualified.

※ TEDx events are named after locations, such as cities, neighborhoods, streets etc., and aim to serve that named community. Event names must comply with the guideline for naming your event.

※ A TEDx event is not a platform for professional speakers. Its purpose is to give a platform to those who don’t often have one.

※ A TEDx event cannot be used to raise money, not even for a charity.

※ A TEDx event can’t be co-branded with an institution except under specific license types – for a college or university, or for internal events (for corporations and organizations).

※ TEDx events may not be used to promote spiritual or religious beliefs, commercial products or any kind of political agenda.

※ Every TEDx event either shows only TED Talk videos to its audience or shows both TED Talk videos and live speakers from the community. For events less than half a day in length, two TED Talks videos are required to be shown. For longer events, 25% of the total number of talks must be official TED Talk videos.
