4 . Calling all poets! Time for Kids has a challenge for you: Write a rhyming poem and enter it in the TFK Poetry Contest. It must be a poem that does not copy another poet’s work.

How to enter: This contest begins at 12 pm on May 14 and ends at 12 pm on July 15. To enter online, visit our website and follow instructions to submit the following: (a)an original and previously unpublished poem; (b)the entrant’s first name only and email address; (c)a parent’s email address. Limit one entry per person or email account.

Judging: All entries will be judged by poet Kenn Nesbitt, based on the following criteria: creativity and originality (50%),use of language and rhyme (25%) and appropriateness to contest theme (25%). Winners will be notified by email during the month of August and must respond within five days.

Eligibility(资格): Open to legal citizens of the United States who are elementary school students and are 8 to 13 years old at the time of entry.

Prizes: Our judge will select four semi-finalists (半决赛选手),from which one winner and three finalists will be chosen. The winner will receive an online class taught by Kenn Nesbitt. All the semi-finalists will receive a signed copy of Bigfoot Is Missing, which is worth about $275. The semi-finalists’ poems will be published at our website.

About us

Our family has been farming at Parkside Farm since 1938.Although we no longer keep cows，we still have some grassland and some fields of wheat and other crops.We started growing strawberries for Pick Your Own back in 1979.Since then，we have made the Pick Your Own area larger and we now grow about 20 different crops.

Opening times

The season starts in late June，but opening hours are variable the first week.Please ring our message line to check.From July onwards，we are open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9 am to 5∶30 pm (last entry 5 pm). Opening hours are variable on Sundays.Mondays CLOSED.

When you book a place on Airbnb, you’re making arrangements to stay in someone’s home. Each host has their own style of hospitality (好客), starting with how they like to get to know their guests. 1. Complete Your Profile

In either case, it’s important to know that Airbnb is a community that relies on trust. Complete your profile before you request a reservation with a host, so they can know a little bit about you when they confirm. Your profile should include photos and verifications (验证), especially because some hosts require guests to have a profile photo or verified ID in order to book.

2. Find the Right Place

With over 800, 000 unique listings around the world, you’ll want to make sure the place you choose has everything you need for a comfortable and memorable trip.

When searching for a place, make sure to include your dates and number of guests to get the most accurate pricing. Read reviews, descriptions, house rules, and household appliances for each place to see if it’s the right fit for your trip. You can always contact the host if you have any questions about their home.

3. Book It!

You’ve found the perfect place, and now it’s time to make it official. This is where the host’s preferred way of booking will determine how you’ll confirm your reservation.

Instant Book

For hosts who don’t want to approve each reservation, you’ll see a button on their listing that says Instant Book. Like the name suggests, you can confirm a reservation at these places right away.

Request to Book

Many hosts prefer to approve reservations before they’ re final. In this case, you’ll see a button on their listing that says Request to Book. To submit a reservation request, you’ll need to enter your payment details. Hosts have 24 hours to accept your request, and your reservation is automatically confirmed once they do.

Pre-approvals and Special Offers

If you decide to contact the host to ask questions before attempting to book, the host may respond to your message by inviting you to make a reservation with either a pre-approval or Special Offer. 8 . From cottages surrounded by impressive gardens to days spent exploring sandy beaches and deep woods filled with wildlife, in My Family and Other Animals, English writer Gerald Durrell provided a vivid account of his family’s time on the Greek island of Corfu in the 1930s.

Come for the arresting descriptions of Corfu landscapes and stay for Durrell’s laugh-out-loud tales of his unusual family. This book, Durrell wrote humorously in the introduction, “was intended to be a nostalgic(怀旧的)account of natural history, but in the first few pages, I made the mistake of introducing my family.”

Durrell, later known for his zoo keeping and the preservation of wildlife, was just a child during his family’s five-year stay in Corfu. He is 10-year-old Gerry in the book—curious, passionate about animals and a detailed storyteller of his strange family: his imaginative elder brother Larry with his literary ambitions, lovestruck sister Margo, sporty brother Leslie and his ever-calm, loving mother.

Durrell’s attention to detail is what makes the book so winning, with every sight, sound and smell of the island brought to life. One minute you’ll be laughing as Larry’s clever literary friends walk down to the daffodil-yellow cottage, the next you’ll be catching your breath as Durrell describes swimming at night in the Ionian Sea: “Lying on my back in the silky water, staring at the sky, only moving my hands and feet slightly, I was looking at the Milky Way stretching like a silk scarf across the sky and wondering how many stars it contained.”

My Family and Other Animals is quite difficult to classify, being one part travel, one part autobiography, one part natural history, and one part comedy, with a thread of descriptive language running throughout that sometimes raises it nearly to poetry.

As a real delight to read, it’s the perfect literary escapism for any adult or older teenager who is currently walking down a tough road in life.

9 . Our school is looking for paid members to sit on the Student Advisory Board for Volunteering. The Board plays an important role in influencing the development and delivery of the volunteering service. Its aim is to find volunteering opportunities for students, teachers at school.

Volunteering, which has the potential to create positive social impact, is key to school. The Board will ensure that students’ needs are at the core of the service so that all King’s students can make a difference. This year, the Student Advisory Board for Volunteering’s topics include:

● Volunteering opportunities for the disabled. 

● Promotion of the Board’s service. 

● How to recognize and reward volunteers. 

● Comment on the Board’s work.

10 . Total Solar Eclipse 2023 Australia

One of nature’s most remarkable event — a total solar eclipse (日蚀) — will take place on the we stem edge of Australia on April 20th, 2023 and we have chosen the perfect way for you to enjoy this event: on a cruise (航游) at sea.

There have been only five total solar eclipse in Australia over the past century and this is the first hybrid eclipse in more than 1000 years. Unlike other cruises for this event, ours has the well-known astronomer Abigail Beall to accompany you.
