School holiday fun: Young people aged 13 — 19 will be able to produce their own music, compete in sports activities, or try their hand at cooking at Saxon Youth Club, Saxon Community Centre, Norman Road, Peterborough every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 pm. PLUS, an aero ball tournament (航空球比赛) will take place on Thursday, 12th August between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

Farmland Museum and Denny Abbey

Farmland Gaines: From Wellie Wanging to Pretend Ploughing matches, come and join the Farmland Team. Collect your sporting stickers and create a colorful rosette that is fit for a winner! Peterborough Museum

The Age of the Dinosaurs is the museum’s main attraction this summer. Get up close to prehistoric creatures via some great hands-on exhibits! Watch out for monsters lurking around every ember! The museum is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday, and from 12: 00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sundays in August.

2 . The best attractions in Langkawi make the most of the natural landscapes, huge parks, and unusual structures that no first-time visitor should skip on their travel schedules.

Underwater World Langkawi

Set along a beach town, it is home to more than 500 species of sea creatures including seals, seahorses, as well as ducks. One of the highlights is a 15-metre underwater tunnel, where you can enjoy close-up views of sharks.

Art in Paradise Langkawi

Lagenda Langkawi Dalam Taman

This famous wine bar provides a spot with a rare sweet and warm atmosphere. For date night, go to the bar with views of the open kitchen; or fill up the large table in the back with a group and taste the entire 20-item menu. Either way, do not miss the famous mushroom soup.

Australian chefs James Henry and Shaun Kelly transformed the former stables (马厩) of a 19th-century private estate into a working farm, restaurant, and guesthouse driven by the principles of regenerative agriculture. More than one hundred varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs make their way into Henry’s cooking after being carefully nurtured by Kelly.

Seafood is a hangover cure in Mexico, and almost everyone eating here is devoted to fixing last night’s damage from drunkenness and getting a head start on creating today’s. On the sidewalk, crowds of locals and tourists alike line up for fisherman Salvador Orozco’s creative takes on Sinaloa and Baja seafood. At his latest restaurant, a small dining room at the base of Bangkok’s landmark King Power Mahanakhon Tower, he draws inspiration from King Chulalongkorn’s 1897 journey around Europe and the foreign ingredients (原料) and cooking techniques he added to the royal cookbooks.

While taking a look at this city, you may see the best bike sharing in the world. As the second on the planet by size, the Hangzhou Public Bicycle System is one of the most common and useful shares, largely because it’s combined with public transportation: a single card can be used in subway, bus, taxi and bike sharing. Residents and tourists can put down a deposit of 200 Chinese Yuan (about $29) and ride for an hour for free in this scenic city. Each additional hour costs only $0.15. It was also the first new-generation bike-sharing system in China.

City: Barcelona

Launched: 2007

Size: 420 stations/6,000 bikes

Price: $61.93 per year

Barcelona’s Bicycling Program developed Spain’s bike-sharing business in a big way. This program took off like wildfire on wheels, and because four times bigger in one year. It inspired different copycat programs all over the country. Today, Spain has 132 bike-sharing systems. The program is one of the world’s most respected and popular shares. But it is only open to residents and tourists are not allowed to use them.

City: Paris

Launched: 2007

Price: $38. 52 per year/ $2.26 per day

Bike sharing in Paris is the star of the world. Launched in 2007, it is the world’s largest outside of China. Cheap by American standards, you can ride around Paris on a $1.7 day pass—the first half hour of each trip is free. Because this system covers the city with an average of 50 stations per square mile, it’s a favourite with both locals and tourists.

7 . What limits you from hiking more often? If not having a suitable hiking partner is keeping you out of the woods, why not take a look at the great hiking clubs across Canada?

Membership cost: $10 for a single membership

Description: The club organises day hikes, backpacking trips, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing trips for members to gain new skills and valuable information. The trips are open to everyone and range from easy to moderate to difficult.

Membership cost: Students $40; non-UBC students $60

Description: The UBC Varsity Outdoor Club is a social group that hikes and rock climbs. Members lead trips, run skills workshops, and host presentations. Members can borrow equipment from the club. The UBC VOC has also constructed a few huts in the Coast Mountains.

Membership cost: Free

Description: The Pender Harbor Hiking Group offers a way for members to meet like-minded people and get fit. Hikes are scheduled two months in advance, so check the website regularly to find a hike that suits you! Hikes are usually one and a half to two hours long every Monday and Wednesday morning, but some full-day hikes are scheduled, depending on member interest.

Membership cost: A single membership is $25, and students pay $10. Children are free when they come with a registered family member.

Description: The Vernon Outdoors Club is an active group that enjoys hiking and cycling. Members are encouraged to share their activity ideas and interests. The group organises a Tuesday Activity each week.

9 . Digital art class

Tap into the unlimited inspiration of the natural materials, colors and forms to be found in Museum Victoria’s diverse collections.

Whether you are a beginner, an expert or somewhere in between, this creative studio class introduces digital art technologies and skills in a relaxing environment. Participants create extraordinary artworks working individually on iPads. Exploratory approaches allow participants to enjoy visual creativity, whatever their previous experience and level of skills in sketching, painting and digital design.

Digital Art Class takes place in Melbourne Museum’s Learning Lab Studio. Each month’s class is themed to explore a different aspect of Museums Victoria’s collections.

Classes have a maximum capacity of 16 participants and are suitable for teens 16+ and adults. Simply bring your creativity — all equipment is provided.

Subject: This talk is about the latest science on brain health, including what we know about preventing cognitive decline (认知下降) as we get older and what we can do to improve our mental health.

The speaker will introduce the latest understanding of the way that sleep, diet, exercise and our social lives are important for our brains and will share practical tips and lifestyle changes that can get long-term brain benefits.

The Lecturer: Catherine de Lange, an award winning journalistand, is Head of Features at New Scientist. Her work has been widely published in Nature, The Observer, BBC and The WashingtonPost. She has worked on TV programs such as the Royal InstitutionChristmas Lectures, as well as radio documentaries including BBCRadio 4’s Dear Professor Hawking.
