Becoming Bears(Kindergarten-2 grade)

Winged Wonders(3-5 grade)

Birds add color and sound to our world and play an important ecological role. Students will learn the basics of birds, understand the role birds play in food chains and go bird­watching using field guides and telescopes. Students will do hands­on activities. Students will use tools to build bird feeders, allowing them to attract birds at home.(3-4 hours)

Exploring Your Watershed(6-8 grade)

We all depend on clean water. Examining how our actions shape the waterways around us. Go on a hike to see first­hand some of the challenging water quality problems in a city. Students will test the water quality to determine the health of an ecosystem.

Mount Cook National Park is home of the highest mountains and the longest glaciers. It is alpine(高山) in the purest sense—with skyscraping peaks, glaciers and permanent snow fields, all set under a star-studded sky.

Mountaineers regard the area to be the best climbing region, while less skilled adventurers find plenty of satisfaction with the mountain walks that lead to alpine tarns, herb fields and spectacular glacier views. Encounters with cheeky kea (mountain parrots) are part of the fun.

Mountain walks

There are 10 short walks beginning near the village. All tracks are formed and well marked. The Red Tams Track, Kea Point and the Hooker Valley Track each take around two bours return. For more experienced alpine hikers, there are three mountain pass routes-over the Mueller. Copland and Ball passes.


Glacier viewing and skiing

Helicopters and ski—planes provide access to the park’s fabulous glaciers. The Tasman Glacier is an excellent choice for intermediate skiers, while the Murchison, Darwin and Bonney glaciers promise excitement for advanced skiers. From October until May, you can explore the Tasman Glacier’s terminal lake by boat.


Mountaineering

Climbing Mount Cook remains the ultimate challenge, but there are many other peaks to tempt experienced climbers. Tasman, MalteBrun, Elie de Beaumont, Sefton and La Perouse are quite popular.

5 . Cruise(巡航)lines worldwide suspended sailings March 13 because of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Now companies such as Carnival and Disney are pushing out their return dates and canceling more trips, meaning passengers can receive full refunds for the price of their trips.

Those who want to take their chances and postpone — even though there’s no firm date when this pandemic will end — can choose to receive a credit for a future cruise. Just remember: If you choose a credit, you have given up your refund. Cruise companies want you to stick with them, and are offering extra perks(津贴) and credits to keep you on board.

Carnival Cruises

On Wednesday, Carnival Cruises announced it would suspend Alaska sailings through June 30 and scrap all San Francisco cruises for the rest of the year. Typical five-day cruises along the California coast called at Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico, before returning to the Bay Area.

The company also canceled cruises aboard Carnival Radiance (an upgrade of the Carnival Victory) through Nov. 1, and Carnival Legend, through Oct. 30. Carnival Legend typically sails from Seattle to Alaska in summer months.

Passengers whose trips have been canceled may opt for a refund or a future cruise credit.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line on Monday extended its suspension for sailings departing in April. Passengers who had tickets on any of its four ships through April 28 may receive a refund or a cruise credit for a trip within 15 months of their original departure date, according to the company’s website.

Disney also warned passengers about sailings aboard the Disney Wonder that are scheduled to resume April 29. The itinerary(行程) calls for a stop in Vancouver, Canada, but Canada has closed its ports at least through July 1.
