Running is one of the best calorie burners out there. An average person can burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories in one hour of running. Speed and pace are all factors that can affect calorie burning. But running uses every muscle group in the body, allowing you to burn more calories.

If you want intensity, HIIT is right for you. This physical exercise involves working hard in intervals, then resting. Because your heart rate will stay at a high level, you’ll burn more calories in less time. On average, a person will burn 400 to 600 calories in 30 minutes.

This childhood activity can actually do wonders for your health. Jumping rope is great for strengthening the lower and upper body while training your balance and coordination (协调能力), because your mind has to work while you jump. Jumping rope can burn 600 to 1,000 calories in an hour.

Swimming is a low-intensity form of exercise that also uses muscle groups of your body. In just 30 minutes of swimming, an average person can burn 200 to 300 calories. Swimming also helps to shape body, control blood pressure, and increase strength—all great reasons for you to jump into the water.

3 . The New Jersey State Botanical (植物学的) Garden (NJBG) is a part of Ringwood State Park, New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry, Department of Environmental Protection. It appears on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

7 . Literary festivals are held annually in many corners of the globe and attract large numbers of readers, writers, playwrights (剧作家) and publishers.

Miami Book Fair

For eight days each year in November, the campus of Miami Dade College hosts over 500 outstanding authors during the Miami Book Fair. The fair offers young writers a unique opportunity to attend creative writing courses and workshops. Readers can listen to famous international authors talk about their latest books. Most of the events are offered free of charge to encourage a love of literature across all income groups.

Cheltenham Literature Festival

The festival runs for 10 days every autumn in Cheltenham. It’s the world’s first literature festival, leading the way in celebrating the writ- ten and spoken word. The fair offers something to everyone-you can attend reading activities and debates, and bring your children to see their favorite storybook characters brought to life.

Paraty International Literary Festival

It’s held each year in the city of Paraty, Brazil. Visitors can meet many local and international authors, poets and playwrights, and attend literature workshops. As part of the festival, Flipinha is mainly for children where young readers can meet writers and relax with a book in a special space. A further arm of the festival is called FlipMais. A series of free events about live theatre, music and cinema are held throughout the city of Paraty.

Edinburgh International Book Festival

The festival lasts for over 16 days every August and usually features around 900 events where you can meet your favorite authors, and bring your children to attend magical story-telling sessions and special workshops for children with learning disabilities. In most years, the festival attracts over 1,000 authors, poets and educators.

10 . A Day with a Dickens Descendant (后裔)

The Charles Dickens Museum is very happy to welcome Lucinda Dickens Hawksley for a full day of adventure this weekend. The three times great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens, Lucinda is returning to her family’s historic London home to share some exciting projects with you.

9:00 am — Our Dickens Day begins with a virtual talk presented by Lucinda in celebration of Christmas in July. This festive event is for people down under celebrating Christmas in midwinter, and is timed so that friends in Australia and New Zealand can join. Streamed online, this is a wonderful way to get into the festive spirit. For those in the Northern Hemisphere (北半球), or for people who just don’t fancy celebrating Christmas in July, this is still a wonderful way of understanding how Dickens came to write one of his most famous books, A Christmas Carol.

2:00 pm — Lucinda will be on-site, here at the museum, to deliver a short talk on her brand new book, Dickens and Travel. This remarkable book takes a look at how Dickens enthusiasm for adventure and travel helped influence his famous stories.

2:30 pm-3:30 pm — If you’ve ever wanted to meet a Dickens descendant, now is your chance. Lucinda will be in the Boardroom to sign copies of her new book and greet visitors.

4:00 pm — Lucinda will finish her day at the museum with another short talk on her new book.
