1 . The two-week Harvard Pre-College Program is an intense and exciting experience of the college life. The admission committee is now looking for mature, academically motivated students who will graduate from high school and enter college in 2022.

The Course Experience

With over 30 courses to choose from, you’re sure to find a topic that interests you. Although courses are non-credit and do not have letter grades, you need to attend the class in its entirety. When class is not in session, you can participate in creative and social activities. At the end of the program, you’ll receive a written evaluation from your instructor, as well as a transcript (成绩单).

How to Apply

Complete an online application and provide supplemental (补充的) materials, including:

·The $75 non-refundable application fee.

·Transcripts from 9th grade to fall 2021 grades: This can include progress reports, report cards, and educational summaries from your high school

·If English is not your native language, submit scores from the TOEFL IBT or IELTS language proficiency exam along with your application.

Cost & Aid

The total fee for a Harvard Pre-College Program 2022 session is $4,950. The program fee includes tuition, room and board, and activity costs for the full two weeks. There is also a non-refundable $75 application fee and $100 health insurance.

A limited number of scholarships are available to assist students who demonstrate financial need. Awards vary based on need, and atypical award covers part of the tuition.

3 . The 2021 Advertisement Design Competition

The Advertisement Design Competition is an international design contest organized by the A’ Design Award and Competition, which is the world’s largest design competition awarding best designs, design concepts and products & services. This competition primarily aims to highlight the best advertisement design ideas in Graphic Design. Award winners usually get recognition opportunities, appear on various publications and get the press’s attendance.

How to join

Joining the Advertisement Design Competition is easy: create an account at the A’ Design Award and Competition, log on to your account and send your work. When you submit your work, it will be checked by the preliminary judges for necessary qualities. Then, your design will be either Approved or Rejected to take part in the competition. If your design is approved, you can continue recommending your design by paying the necessary processing fees.

Benefits for Award Winners

A unique public relations campaign will be made for Advertisement Design Award winners. Your work and your details will be communicated to thousands of press contacts, and also we will prepare a media kit for you. You can use this professionally prepared media kit to contact local press contacts. The winning design and the designer or the design studio will also be featured in the design yearbook which is distributed by Design PR Wire to key figures in the design industry such as famous editors, press members and multi-national companies. All Winning Designs will be included in the winners’ book free of charge. The winners will be listed as co-editors of the book.

Submit your design by 25 November, 2021. You will be informed of the outcome by 25 December, 2021.

4 . Discover Nature Schools Programs

Becoming Bears(Kindergarten－2 grade)

By becoming baby bears, children learn from their “parent” to survive the seasons. Kids will find safety in the spring and learn kinds of food bears eat during the summer, and then create a cave for winter hibernation(冬眠)．After learning the skills needed to survive, students will go out of the cave as an independent black bear able to care for themselves.(1.5－2 hours)

Whose Clues?(3－5 grade)

Kids will discover how plants and animals use their special structures to survive. Through outdoor study of plants and animals, kids will recognize their special structures and learn how they enable species to eat, avoid their enemies and survive. Using what they have learned, kids will choose one species and tell how they survive in their living places.(3－4 hours)

Winged Wonders(3－5 grade)

Birds add color and sound to our world and play an important ecological role. Students will learn the basics of birds, understand the role birds play in food chains and go bird­watching using field guides and telescopes. Students will do hands­on activities. Students will use tools to build bird feeders, allowing them to attract birds at home.(3－4 hours)

Exploring Your Watershed(6－8 grade)

We all depend on clean water. Examining how our actions shape the waterways around us. Go on a hike to see first­hand some of the challenging water quality problems in a city. Students will test the water quality to determine the health of an ecosystem.

·Each program is taught for a class with at least 10 students.

·All programs include plenty of time outdoors. So please prepare proper clothing, sunscreen and insect killers for children.

5 . Some students prefer a part-time job after class to earn some money and improve themselves. Here are some good companies:

·A Burger Shop

It is the best hamburger shop in the west of America. Regarded as one of the best employers, it offers flexible working hours and the highest part-time salaries. Above all, the company treats its employees the way they would like to be treated: like family. However, there is no discount offered to its employees.

·A Coffee Shop

It has been at the forefront (前沿) of the United States’ coffee revolution. Working hours are flexible. Fit twenty hours of work into your week. There is also a 30% discount and a free pound of coffee or box of tea every week.

Position: assistant coffee taster (experience required)

·A Foods Market

It is the world’s largest natural and organic food selling company. With its focus on organic ingredients, the market is all about health. Working hours are free. Benefits include paid time off and a 20% discount so you can eat like a king or at least like a top chef in training. There are also training courses on health and food every week.

Position: secretary

·A Clothes Store

It is a Wisconsin-based clothes store that focuses on casual comfort and warmth for the great outdoors. Employees (even part-time employees) have the chance to go to a company-owned entertainment centre and get a 25% discount on theme parks and movies, and an invitation to the yearly company picnic. Besides, for part-time employees, they can come to work anytime they like as long as they work for 4 hours a day.

9 . Explore the History of Jazz and

Celebrate the Lunar New Year

Here is a sample of some events for this week and how to tune in. Note that events are likely to change after publication.

■Monday

Explore the history of jazz in Washington with the musician, broadcaster and historian Ken Avis, as he discusses what made the city a capital and how the music has changed through the years. This event, presented by the Smithsonian Associates, costs $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Registration closes two hours before the event.

■Wednesday

Celebrate the Lunar New Year's unique food traditions in a talk from the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. Jan Stuart, the Melvin R. Seiden organizer of Chinese art, will present works from the museum's collection, and Lydia Chang of the Peter Chang restaurant empire, will share stories about her family's celebratory dishes. This event is free, and attendance is capped at 500.

■Saturday

Join Ensemble NYC for an evening of love songs. Featuring well­known artists, the event will include pieces like Gioachino Rossini's Una voce poco fa and Mozart's Là ci darem la mano. A part of the money will be donated to West Side Campaign Against Hunger. Tickets are need­based and can be purchased for as little as $10.

■Sunday

Dance with your little ones while listening to a special concert from the Laurie Berkner Band. In a live performance, Ms. Berkner, a children's recording artist, will play family­friendly songs, dance to animations and even introduce special guests.
