Brown, 66, will be one of the oldest head coaches next season. He signed a five-year deal with UMass. “You can see his passion. He's got a lot of energy to build our program and a lot of pride in it,” Scott, president of UMass says. “We're gonna take advantage of that to build back a winning program that we all want.” Brown knows what UMass looks like as a winning program. He's made it his mission to get the Minutemen back there.
“It will mean a lot. I'm going to work tirelessly to make it happen. I have no doubt that we're going to get there,” Brown says. “Won't it be nice to be playing in a bowl game? That's the beauty there. We will get ourselves into a bowl game and bring our first bowl cup home at this level. It will be a special moment.”

Snacks, game machines and medical services have poured into the family of Quan Hongchan, the 14-year-old gold medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, after the story of the talented diver striving to win the Games to support her low-income family and earn money for the treatment of her ill mother deeply touched us.
As the youngest athlete among China’s delegation (代表团), Quan amazed audiences around the world with her surprisingly perfect performance in the women’s 10-meter platform.
Quan immediately became one of the most-discussed Olympic athletes on Chinese social media and a “sweetheart” of many people not only for the snack-loving girl's likeable persona (形象), but also for her maturity and good heart after it came to light she was supporting a low-income family of seven. The passion for the young champion’s family, however, has appeared to become overly heated after some fans and Internet celebrities tracked down to her village home, causing local traffic chaos. When he was 21years old, Duke broke two world swimming records. Not surprisingly, Duke easily made the Olympic swimming team in 1912.During his Olympic career, Duke won three gold medals and two silver medals in swimming.
When Duke finished winning medals at the Olympics, he toured the world. He also brought along his surfboard. Duke had been surfing ever since he was a little boy. In 1917,he rode a single wave for more than a mile! Duke amazed people by riding his 16-foot-long board. He is considered the father of modern surfing.
Since Duke was handsome and strong, people loved to watch him. His next career move was clear. Duke headed for Hollywood. From 1925 to 1955,he made more than 30 movies.
One day in 1925, Duke and a few other surfers were hanging out on the beach when a boat turned over not far from them. The surfers hit the waves with their big boards and saved 12 of the passengers. Duke alone saved eight of them! After that, lifeguards at beaches started using surfboards to save swimmers. Helping others was a big thing in Duke’s life.
In 1932,Duke became sheriff(治安官)of Honolulu, Hawaii, holding the position for almost 30 years. As sheriff, in fact, his job was to greet visitors who came to the city .From the Olympics to Hollywood, Duke Kahanamoku had put Hawaii on the map when it was still a little known island.
When he was 75 years old, Dukes name was added to both the Swimming Hall of Fame and the Surfing Hall of Fame. He died in 1968 at the age of 78.
