This Friday is the traditional Dragon Boat Festival, also knowing as Duanwu Festival. One of the major custom is to make and eat rice dumplings. It’s obviously that most people don’t make rice dumplings at the present. They can buy it at the supermarket or online. However, it’s still considering one of the most important elements celebrate the festival. It’s not easy to make rice dumplings by hand, that takes too much time. Halloween is usually celebrated among family, friends and, sometimes, co-workers. Adults may celebrate by watching horror films or hold costume parties. Many children dress up fancy costumes and visit other homes, where they demand sweets, snacks or the small gift. If they get nothing, they threaten to do some harms to the inhabitants of the house. If we are at home on Halloween, it is a good idea to have a bowl of small presents or sweets to offer to anyone who knock on your door. Have you heard about Singles’ Day (Nov. 11th) in China? Many people stay up lately that night, shop online to get big savings. Well, the US has something like it calling Black Friday. Black Friday is one of the bigger shopping days in the US. It always falls on a day after the Thanksgiving holiday. On this day, store will offer special deals just like on Singles’ Day in China. On Black Friday, shoppers will often wake up very early to wait in line at stores after they open. They might start wait in line as early as 2 or 3 am. Sometimes, the crowds will be such big that it is impossible to get inside the store. People sometimes fight over things because there are only a few are left.
Tea has a long history in China, dated back to 5, 000 years ago. Obvious, it plays a important part in Chinese culture. A good many of distinguished poets and writers had written many masterpieces about the appreciate of tea and the love for it, among them was Lu Yu in the Tang dynasty. He wrote The Classic of Tea, the first book on tea, but he was regarded as the “Tea Saint (圣人)”．
Chinese people take delight in tea-drinking. It served almost everywhere. Whenever guest visit, offering a cup of tea to them is a basic social custom. Tea is part of Chinese people’s daily life.

The Spring Festival, that falls on the first day of the first lunar month, is one of the most important festival. I’m very interesting in it, so I went to China last year to experience some traditions and customs. Usually, people decorate our houses with paper-cuttings and New Year paintings. Beside, people often have a big dinner with their family members in New Year’s Eve. For children, the most exciting moment is if when they get red pockets from the elders. Set off fireworks is also very exciting.
