The spring festival is the more important holiday for the Chinese people. There are many traditional activity to celebrate the festival, such as to do a thorough cleaning to having a new look for the new year, to paste handwritten couplets(对联) on front doors to bring a good luck. On some areas, people conduct Yangge dance and lion dance to increase the festival atmosphere. Also, people prepared a variety of foods treat the family, friends and relatives. The festival lasts for 15 days. It’s usually the biggest family gathering for most families, but everyone is supposing to go home to join the celebration. Train and airplane tickets are very difficulty to get before the festival.

Spring Festival is my favorite holiday celebration. We usually spend several days prepare for it. We clean our house but decorate it with pieces of paper with word like Fu written on them. I worked with my mum in the kitchen, cooking a lot dishes and making dumplings. It is traditionally to hide a coin in one of the dumplings. It is thought to be luck to be the person whom finds the coin. We usually invite our relatives to join ourselves for the meal. We love to get together to eat, talk and have the fun with each other.

When I was an little boy, I was always looking forward the dinner on the eve of the Spring Festival. It was not only for the delicious food that we seldom got to eat， and also for the opportunity to had our whole family together. I was used to run around the house, listening to the adult chatting about their passing year. I’d follow my mother to the kitchen, watching she making dumplings. She’d put coins or candies in some dumplings. In the evening, all of us would sit around the table, enjoying the food happy together. The well-known Chinese opera, Hua Mulan, was putting on in the Grand Theatre last Saturday afternoon. It is based in a story about a young girl are named Hua Mulan. She replaced（代替）her father to join the army in disguise（乔装）as a gentleman and saved her country from the enemy. It was well worth watch. I invited my friend Mary, an exchange student in our school, to seeing it with me. I knew she was very interested in Beijing Opera. It had a long history and is traditional form of culture of our country.

Last summer, my friend and I visited Beijing’s Hutongs which built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. They have an effect of Chinese culture. Nobody knew for sure how much Hutongs there are in Beijing. If we connected all the Hutongs, and they would even be longer than the Great Wall, who length is more than 21,000 kilometers. Some Hutongs are so narrow that an person like me can hard get through. To our delight, some are well preserving, where we can experience the typical life of the old Beijing local.

Yesterday, I went to an amazing Chinese art festival. There were different stands which artists could present their skills and wonderfully teaching the visitors! It was definite an exciting experience for a foreign student like me. What caught up my attention first in a breathtaking exhibition of Chinese porcelain （瓷器）was a 15th-century qinghua bowl, vividly illustrating（阐明）a dragon played with a ball playing.
Then I tried paper cutting, that is, making images（图像）out of paper. It was difficult, and a lot of fun! Under an artist's help, I managed to make one in shape of a fish. Meanwhile, there was also an old man writing Chinese calligraphy （书法）and his writing was very free and elegant（优雅的）that I was attracted! Then another man sitting next to him shows me how seal cutting worked. He made one for me with my name in Chinese—pretty awesome!
