The Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival   c    1    on the fifteenth day of the first month in the Chinese calendar. It marks the final day of the t    2    Chinese New Year celebrations. During the festival, we   d    3     our windows with balloons and posters. We will     4    (举办)lantern riddles   c    5     and firework displays with thousands of people taking part in these celebrations. However, it is the busiest times for the traffic police because the lantern     6    (展览会) and the p    7    attract a lot of people.During this time，families     8    (聚会) to enjoy a big dinner. Rice balls are my favourite.This year, I gave some flowers and a scarf to my mother. In return, she gave me a     9    (红包).

In many Asian cultures,     1     shows respect. It is done when talking with anyone     2     or with anyone older.

Habits like this can     3     when people do not understand them.     4    , an Asian might close his eyes     5     or look down while listening to a speaker. A Western speaker might think the man is not interested.

3 . For thousands of years, poetry (诗) has been the favorite type of literature (文学) in China. There were many famous poets from different periods of time in Chinese     1    , and most of their poems     2     still read and appreciated today.

To remind people     3     those classic Chinese poems, CCTV has produced a TV     4     called Chinese Poetry Competition. The final of the show’s second season was shown in February. A girl     5     Wu Yishu who studies at the High School Affiliated to Fudan University, came out to be the winner of the     6    . She recited lines from the Classic of Poetry (《诗经》): “In July, the crickets (蟋蟀) are in the field; In    7    , they are in the yard; In September, they are at the door; In October, the crickets enter and crawl under our beds.” “I really admire     8     knowledge of poems. The first time I saw her       9     traditional Han clothing on TV, I was very impressed by her classical looks. She always keeps so calm through the show, which is very     10     for her age.” said Huang Zijin after watching the final show.

Mr. Huang also said we would find Chinese cultured and taste the beauty of life by enjoying poems.

Our eating habits have changed, as    1     our way of life, and the fuel we need for our body is also different. Other nutrients, such as fiber and minerals, help keep our body    2     well. Vitamins, which we can get from eating vegetables, fruit, fish and drinking milk, help our body    3     disease. It is probably better, however, if we spend our time and money in buying good food and     4     a balanced diet. If we eat healthy food in the right    5    , we do not have to buy any supplements. The same goes for “crash diets” that some companies say will make us    6     fast.     7     eating expensive diet food or going on unhealthy diets, we can simply try to eat less fat and sugar and     8     more.

Kwanzaa is a seven-day festival     9     the culture and history of African Americans. Kwanzaa is a time for learning    10     joy. On the last day of Kwanzaa, family and friends     11     to enjoy a large meal and to celebrate the new year.

    12     a new festival may seem an unusual way to celebrate history and culture, but we are in fact creating new festivals every year.     13     we celebrate a festival it changes a little and in that way we keep our culture    14     . The Spring Festival, Christmas, Ramadan, Kwanzaa and all the other holidays and festivals help us understand who we are, remember where we come from, and     15     our hopes for a happy future.
