A few days ago, the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe signed a cooperation agreement on promotion of the Kunqu Opera. The cooperation has created     1     effective way to promote traditional culture

The Palace Museum is one of the     2     (large) museums of ancient Chinese culture and art in China. It used to be the Forbidden City,     3     the emperors of China’s Ming and Qing dynasties lived and conducted state     4    (affair), and was turned into a museum later.

The Kunqu Opera is one of the oldest types of opera in China.     5     (feature) mild and emotional melodies, poetic lines and graceful gestures, it can best represent the traditional Chinese arts. The Kunqu Opera     6    (be) under state protection since the PRC was founded.

The cooperation     7     the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe is a good attempt to preserve this opera, which is     8    (real) worth encouraging.

According to the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, this cooperative project is “a dream coming true after three years. We aim to bring to life the opera relics     9    (house) in the Palace Museum.”

Some traditional plays recorded and kept in the Palace Museum will be selected and put on show. In addition, the Troupe will also recover a series of plays and perform     10    (they).

During Chinese New Year, money is put inside red envelopes which are then handed out to     1     (young) generations by their parents, grandparents, relatives and even close neighbors and friends. At some     2     (company), workers may also receive a year-end cash bonus     3     (fold) inside a red envelope. Red envelopes are also popular gifts for birthdays and weddings. Red symbolizes luck and good fortune in Chinese culture. That is     4     red envelopes are used during Chinese New Year     5     other celebratory events.

The receiver of a red envelope at Chinese New Year or on his or her birthday should not open it in front of the     6     (give). However, the procedure is different at Chinese weddings, where there is a table at     7     entrance of the wedding reception where guests give their red envelopes to attendants and sign their names on a large scroll. They will     8     (immediate) open the envelope, count the money inside, and record it on a register next     9     the guests' names.

The money inside a red envelope should always be new and crisp. Folding the money or giving dirty or wrinkled bills is in bad taste. Coins and checks     10     (avoid) the former because change is not worth much and the latter because checks are not widely used in Asia.
