Beijing’s siheyuan,     1     has a long history of more than 8000 years, is a     2     (tradition) building in China. “Si” means east, west, south and north, the four directions and “he” refers to that houses are distributed like a “口”.

Siheyuan is constructed in an enclosed style. There are walls in four directions and the gate is closed in most cases except for going out. A regular siheyuan in an east-west hutong     3     (general) faces south in Beijing, and its unique orientation (朝向) is determined on     4     basis of Feng Shui Studies of China. Different rules and regulations to make a siheyuan can     5     (set) up according to the size of it. There     6     (be) three major sizes: large size, medium size and small size. A medium siheyuan is a more common one, which consists    7     the gate, the outer yard, the inner courtyard and the backyard. 2 . The Louvre is the most popular museum in the world. Last year, about 10 million visitors, more than 75% of whom were foreign tourists, came to the museum. About 80% of them were here for Mona Lisa-and most of them left unhappy.

According to a survey of British tourists earlier this year, Mona Lisa was voted the world’s most disappointing attraction, beating out Checkpoint Charlie, Spanish Steps, and Urinating Boy in Brussels.

If the museum thinks that it is inspiring the next generation of art lovers, it is in fact doing the opposite, thanks to the huge crowds in front of the picture. The overcrowding here was so bad that Jean-Luc Martinez, the museum’s director, has to admit, “We have to take steps to deal with the overcrowding in the coming years: new entrances and timed tickets for the museum.”

He misunderstands the problem-for the Louvre, with more gallery space than any museum on the planet, isn’t that crowed. On my last visit, the French painting wing had just a few visitors. Even Venus de Milo, perhaps the second most famous work of art in the museum, only drew a comfortable few dozen visitors. In other words, the Louvre does not have an overcrowding problem. It has a Mona Lisa problem. No other famous painting comes anywhere close to monopolizing (垄断) a museum like she does. It is time for the Louvre to admit its failure. The museum does not need new entrances or timed tickets.

Instead, it only needs to set up a moving walkway in front of Mona Lisa and let Samsung or another smartphone company to fix its cutest cameras around her. So visitors can strike a pose on the moving walkway, and download their cutest selfies (自拍像) with Mona Lisa later. I can even picture the moving walkway smoothly guiding tourists past the Mona Lisa into the gift shops, where millions of selfiers can take time to enjoy their pictures, and spend money.

It is time to set it up now since the 2024 Summer Olympics is around the comer.

4 . The urge to travel comes from a deep desire to see as much of the world as possible. You dream of visiting new countries, meeting new people and experiencing another culture.     1     Similarly important is to think about the impact travel has on the environment.

Traveling around the world by plane does have a bad effect on the earth, but there are things you can do to reduce the harm you cause, known as eco-travel. Here are sustainable travel trends to keep in mind if you want to maintain eco-friendly travel.

    2     It is this gas that contributes to the greenhouse effect and worsens global warming. The best way to reduce your CO₂ emission (排放) is to fly as little as possible.

Whenever you can, try to take trips that involve trains, buses or boats rather than airplanes. Out of the ways to get around, a flight causes the most pollution.     3     Other places that can be reached by land are also good choices. If you can get around via pollution-free methods such as walking, cycling or horseback riding, even better! Or, consider flying to a region and then traveling around by land when you get there for the remaining duration of your trip.     4     The benefit is that you can take your time and really experience a place.

While traveling is not suitable right now, it is great to think about how you can soften your carbon footprint on a daily basis.     5     Remember, eating locally and packing smartly can help reduce CO₂ emission as well.

Colmans Music Centre

The Colmans Music Centre is a visitor centre with a difference. It contains a comprehensive exhibition area about the history of traditional Irish music via audio visual presentation and touch screen. It has a lovely 120-seat theatre in which a varied programme is presented. A music archive (曲库) is available and tea or coffee is served on site.

The Dock Arts Centre

The Dock is housed in the beautiful 19th-century former Courthouse Building. It houses a 100+ seat performance space, three art galleries, and artist studios. The centre offers something for everyone, from performances and exhibitions, to classes and workshops.

The Corn Mill Theatre

The tradition of drama in Carrigallen goes back to the second last century. The present group was founded in 1963 as “The Community Players” and there has been no break in activity since that time. In 1998 the company won the Esso All-Ireland Drama Finals with Billy Roche’s play Belfry directed by Killian McGuinness.

The Glens Centre

The Glens Centre is a wonderfully unique venue (地点). It has a performance space with seating for 140 people. It has superb technical facilities. The Glens also houses recording facilities and self board and accommodation for visiting performers. The centre hosts a wide ranging programme including the best of contemporary, world, trad, folk and jazz music as well as a feast of theatre, readings, children’s events and world cinema.

Squaw Valley of Olympic Valley in California is one of the biggest ski areas in the United States of America. It is located in the west of Lake Tahoe in Nevada, to which it is connected by a small plain that covers the distance in between within ten minutes. Apart from skiing, it offers facilities like roller skating, swimming, dining, shopping, and even high-altitude golf courses.

Alpine Meadows, located in California of North Lake Tahoe, is one of the top most popular ski resorts, where there are 13 different lifts and one of the most remarkable vertical drops in the world. The quality of the resort matches the skill levels of different skiers. Along with the Lake Tahoe ski resorts, the Alpine Meadows often has the longest snow season.

Vail, situated at Eagle County, Colorado, is the second largest mountain ski resort in the United States. It is one of the most favourite ski destinations for people from around the world. It is large enough to offer a wide variety of runs for both the skiers, as well as snowboarders.

Mont Tremblant is a ski resort located in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec in Canada, near Montreal. The resort operates all the year round, featuring Lake Tremblant for swimming, as well as two golf courses, for the summer months.

A grand bridge over the Yangtze River serving cars and trains began operations on Wednesday in Nantong, Jiangsu province, and is expected to     1     (great) promote the integration (整合) and the economy of one of China’s most developed regions-the Yangtze River Delta.

As the second dual-use bridge in Jiangsu,     6     (follow) the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, the newly opened structure will help to ease traffic jam,     7     currently occurs on two neighboring Yangtze River bridges in Nantong and Wuxi cities. Travel time between Nantong and Wuxi by highway will be cut in half to 40 minutes.
