2 . I have well travelled in Spain and visited a good number of Spanish cities. However, no city will ever quite match Cadiz, where I spent six months studying as a student.

Before that, I knew very little about Cadiz but I decided to take a risk and explore it. Well, the risk certainly paid off.

Cadiz, Europe’s oldest city, hangs off Spain’s southern coast on a peninsula (半岛), surrounded almost entirely by water. As you leave the shady streets of the historical old city and explore more of it, you are met with vast areas of the blue Atlantic Ocean and white sandy beaches, which in my opinion are some of the best in Spain!

One of the great things about Cadiz is the wonderful, rich culture of food and drink. There are little tapa (小吃) bars lining every street and most will serve tapas for around 1.50—2 euros, meaning you can try a whole variety of Andalusian dishes.

Cadiz has also come to be known as “The Singing City”. It comes from the annual carnival (狂欢节), one of the biggest in Europe. A very large number of people go to Cadiz to see it. During those ten days, Cadiz’s narrow streets are filled with the sound of singing as musical groups fight for a place in the contest, which takes place on the last Saturday of carnival. The songs perfectly show the sense of humor of the Gaditanos, who, besides being so warm and welcoming, are said to have the best sense of humor in Spain!

That is my experience of Cadiz: a wonderful, typically Andalusian city which is often overlooked but well worth a visit. I am currently living in Huelva, just a short drive from Cadiz, so please pay attention to my next sharing!

3 . When I was 25 years old, I had a big dream in my mind and lots of things in my backpack. I wanted to travel around Africa with my ______. So I left my hometown with great confidence and ______ in Cape Town on a one-way ticket, not really sure what to do next. ______, before my trip actually started, I met a kind, old Nigerian man. I recently visited Beijing with my parents and younger brother. We had     1     wonderful time on the two-day tour we arranged through the Beijing Forbidden City travel agency.

On the morning of July 11^th, the day after we arrived in Beijing, our guide Miss Wu took us to visit the Ming Tombs. We spent about an hour     2     (look) around the tombs. Then we visited a factory producing     3     (tradition) cloth shoes. They were really beautiful, and it was fun to see how the products     4    (make). My mother even bought two pairs of cloth shoes. After leaving the factory, we were taken to a restaurant     5     served delicious Beijing roast duck. After lunch, we headed to Badaling Great Wall. We took a car up the hill and got onto the wall at the top. The walking on Badaling Great Wall took     6     (we) two hours. The views from the wall were just     7     (amaze). That hike was a bit tiring,     8     it was my favorite part of the tour.

The next morning, we went to see the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube, the main Olympic stadiums which was built     9     the 2008 Olympic Games. In the afternoon, we were taken to see the Forbidden City, which was one of the most famous     10     (attraction). It was huge, so we spent the whole afternoon there.

Mount Tai has been a source of     1     (inspire) for poets and thinkers for thousands of years. Many people like climbing to the top of Mount Tai, no matter    2     challenging the journey is. Confucius once     3     (reach) its top and said there: “Climb Mount Tai and the whole world looks small.” His words express the idea that the higher you climb, the     4     (great) your vision (视野) is. For me, the higher I climbed, the more steps I saw, until finally I got to the steps that led up to the cable car (缆车) station. Of course, Confucius didn’t take a cable car, but I wasn’t Confucius. I spent two hours climbing steps, and that was enough for me.

We got up at 4 a.m. to position     5     (we) for the sunrise. We were lucky enough    6    (enjoy) a clear sunrise among hundreds of others. After breakfast, we walked for about five hours down the mountain and through Peach Blossom Valley,     7     beautiful walk through pine trees, flowering peach trees,waterfalls and     8     (pool) of water. The green plants up the mountain contribute     9     a unique climb. This valley walk was wonderful for me, not just because there were no steps up. It was peaceful,     10     (allow) me to admire the greater scenery I got.

Central Park is New York’s largest city park and one of the biggest in the world, with an area of 843 acres. This park is home to man-made lakes, waterfalls, grass and wooded areas. You will also find the Central Park Zoo, among other attractions in this green space of New York.

Besides being the city’s primary green lungs, Central Park is also a favorite spot for many New Yorkers. It is perfect for sunbathing, going for walks, or doing outdoor sports. Something that we found curious is seeing so many people running with their babies in prams (婴儿车).

On Foot or By Bicycle

To get to know some of the wildest parts of Central Park, we suggest walking. However, to get a general feel for the whole park, the best thing to do is to hire a bicycle and enjoy the scenery.
