文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,介绍旅游在教育方面所起到的作用。

1 . Traveling means going from one place to another or from one country to another. It is immensely beneficial in many ways. From cutting down on stress to lowering your chances of developing heart disease, the health benefits of traveling are huge. Furthermore, traveling fosters understanding between nations. It is an important factor in establishing world peace.     1

Traveling and education both are interrelated. During traveling, a traveler visits different places and comes into contact with people in different regions. Thus it provides the traveler with first-hand knowledge. The knowledge we acquire in schools and colleges is mainly bookish in nature.     2     Traveling can remove this gap because true education takes place outside the classroom. Bookish knowledge can be made perfect and meaningful only by traveling.

3     The benefit of traveling to a new place is that it forces you to face the unknown and think differently. We have read the majesty of the Himalayas, the vastness of the ocean and the beauty of the Taj Mahal from books.     4     It impresses our mind with the vastness, and wonder of nature’s creation. Traveling helps the traveler to know how the wonderful earth is full of natural beauty.

In general, it can be said that traveling essentially has a great educative value. Traveling is adventurous, exciting, and a great stress buster. So, educational institutions of our country should give greater facilities to their students to undertake tours to various places of importance at home and abroad.     5     Seeing the world with your own very eyes will give you a better learning experience than any book can provide.

A.Finally, traveling has great educative value.
B.Traveling widens our view and removes our stress.
C.Thus, traveling should be made an essential part of our education.
D.Traveling is to gather experience, and wisdom comes from experience.
E.They seldom go out of their classroom and most have a narrow outlook.
F.But we can know much more of them if we see those with our own eyes.
G.In most cases, theoretical studies have no practical applications in our life.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。主要对Costa Rica(哥斯达黎加)的物种多样性以及到这里旅游的一些情况进行了介绍。

2 . Costa Rica is about two-thirds the size of Scotland but still shelters five percent of the world’s biodiversity (生物多样性). Covered by rainforest and cloud forest, filled with 129 volcanoes and washed by both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, it is a dream destination for visitors.

In the cloud forest, hundreds of orchid (兰花) species bloom, beautiful birds sing and butterflies flash their colorful wings, while on the Caribbean coast, four species of turtle choose the warm sands as their annual nesting sites.

If you love adventure, try hiking through the lava fields of Arenal Volcano, which is among the ten most active in the world and standing at 5,437 feet tall, or walk through the cloud forest on a series of zip lines in Monteverde. And you are happy with the choice when it comes to accommodation. Will you stay in a tree house or a hotel on the beach? The options are endless.

Now it is easier to get to Costa Rica. In 2016, British Airways launched a direct flight from London Gatwick to San Jose, so you can now reach the nation in less than 11 hours. Once you arrive, touring the country is simple. There are domestic flights if you are short of time. Many hotels and tour operators put together good packages to visit local highlights, or if you prefer, you can even rent a car.

Costa Rica is a year-round destination, with the driest period between December and April. For the rest of the year, the scenery looks more green and amazing, with sunny mornings and showers in the afternoon.

A beautiful rainforest country in Central America, Costa Rica has coastlines on both the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean and some of the world’s best beaches. Costa Rica’s diversity of scenery and natural wonders provides visitors with adventure, relaxation, romance and exploration.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍几种方式可以让读者花更少钱享受欧洲旅行。

3 . Visiting Europe on a Budget

If you were to ask U. S. travelers where they would most want to go on a big trip, they would most likely say that Europe is their No.1 choice.     1    . That’s simply not true. By knowing when to travel, you can save almost half off a traditional vacation to a European destination. Here are just a few ways to enjoy a trip overseas for much less.

    2

The busiest time of year for tourism in Europe is summer. All the kids are out of school and attractions are packed with travelers of all sorts.     3    , but if you also want nice weather, try visiting in late August, September or early October. Though attractions may be open fewer hours each day, you’ll be able to do more in a normal day because you won’t be standing in long lines everywhere you go.

Book your meals with TopTable.

You’ll probably be spending some time eating out on your trip, but that doesn’t mean you have to empty out your wallet to dine well. When you book a reservation with TopTable you can get exclusive dining discounts including affordable fixed-price menus and two-for-one meals.     4    , if you aren’t sure where you’ll be at a particular time before you leave home.

    5

Exploring a new place doesn’t have to be all about paying for expensive tickets and delicious meals. Some of the best ways to experience local culture is by simply sitting outside in a park whilehaving a picnic and people-watching. Pick up copies of local newspapers and magazines when you travel to look for listings of free events and to learn about fun things to do nearby that aren’t listed in the guidebooks.

A.Embrace free activities
B.Travel in the off-season
C.Book airfare mid- to late-summer
D.Any time of year outside of summer is a good time to go to avoid the crowds
E.You can download the phone app and make reservations at restaurants on the go
F.However, many travelers think that anywhere outside of the country is too expensive
G.But American travelers aren’t sure how to reach their vacation goals sooner rather than later

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲的是作者参观著名的小镇Stratford-upon-Avon的经历。

4 . I’m studying English at a school in the UK at the moment and having a wonderful time, meeting new friends and getting to know the country. We have the chance to go on lots of trips and recently we visited the famous town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.     1     Our English teacher wanted us to do more than that.

Before we went, we prepared for the trip.     2     Some students did one on the environment, while another group wrote some questions about hobbies and interests. There were five groups altogether. I’m really interested in business studies and my group had questions to ask local businesspeople and shopkeepers.

We were there for the whole day and we all thought it would be best to do the research in the morning.     3     When we arrived in Stratford, each group went off around the town to ask local people their questions. It was really good fun. We had the chance to practice our English and the local people were very friendly and helpful. In fact, they told our teacher how polite they thought we all were.

Stratford is a lovely town and we spent the afternoon enjoying the sights. After lunch we looked around Holy Trinity Church, and of course we visited the house where the world’s most famous playwright was born and grew up.     4     I got home feeling tired but I had had a fantastic day out.

Besides being fun, it was a great way to practice our English, and not only because we were able to speak to local people.     5     We took it in turns to stand up and explain to the other groups what our questions were about and the things we found out. We all enjoyed it so much that we’re hoping to repeat it later in the year in a new location.

A.However, many of the shops were closed.
B.We could then relax in the afternoon and have a tour.
C.In class the next day we presented the results of our surveys.
D.But we didn’t just walk around the town taking photographs.
E.On the other hand, the weather was better than we had expected.
F.That was followed by some fun boating on the river before we left.
G.We worked in teams and created some surveys on different subjects.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。作者在文章中根据自己的经验就欧洲之旅的准备工作提出建议。

6 . It’s been a few years since my three-month trip across Europe, but it is by far one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. If you have decided to go on this kind of journey, I have put together a list of important things to share with you, based on my own experiences.

You might be thinking now that you won’t have time or the desire to talk to anyone back at home while you are on your great adventure. However, once you’ve been away for a week or two, you might start to change your idea and want to tell anything you see to them. So it’s always a good idea to have a phone card that works internationally, just in case.

Before you buy a phone card plan, make sure of checking the rates! You don’t want to come home with a $500 phone bill! In order to make sure I didn’t overspend on the phone, I purchased a few $50 prepaid phone cards before I left, and then used my minutes sparingly.

Memories are never as clear, years later, as you want them to be. Pictures are nice, but you may find yourself wondering, ”What was the name of that place?” Keep a diary so that you can record your daily activities, the names of people you met in a certain city, and exciting things you got to see or do.

If you don’t have enough money, you can choose to stay in hostels (招待所), which are by far the cheapest way in most of Europe. And you can also take a sleeping bag with you, which will make you have a better sleep, if you have room in your pack and you don’t mind the extra weight. But in my opinion, it might take up much room; you’d better not take one.

1. What might we do during our tour of Europe according to the second paragraph?
A.Become pretty homesick.
B.Waste time in remaking plans.
C.Spend time looking for phone cards.
D.Share our trip experiences with our families.
2. Which of the following words has the closest meaning to the underlined word“sparingly”?
A.Gently.B.Carefully.C.Quickly.D.Freely.
3. What does the author advise us to do in the last paragraph?
A.Book hostels in advance.B.Early to bed, early to rise.
C.Take as few things as possible.D.Make sure your items are well-packed.
4. What does the author mainly want to tell us by writing this passage?
A.How to prepare for a European trip.
B.How to have a good night’s sleep
C.How to keep a record of our journey.
D.How to save money on phone bills.

Homestays, parental hotels and handicraft workshops are also becoming popular.     4     The internet is strikingly full of innovative short videos on camping. And camping equipment is selling well, and it’s hard to get camping sites in country parks.

5     Those include advice on how to improve industry standards, safety management, environmental protection, emergency rescue services and anti-pandemic measures. If these issues are properly addressed, micro-tourism will drive the recovery of the tourism.
