文章大意:本文是议论文。文章讨论了旅游中独自游玩还是选择有导游的方式哪一种方式更好,作者根据自己的旅游经历建议最好是两者相结合,这种互补的方式能让旅游更完美、更难忘。

1 . Is going alone in an unknown area the right way to go, or do you want a tour guide to show you the highlights? I think that you can combine the two ways in one trip and have the best of both worlds.     1     The best purchase we made was for a bus tour that would take us around the capital and point out all the main sites. That allowed us the next day to travel on foot to the ones we especially wanted to see.

Let’s look at the San Francisco Bay Area which is another one of my favorite vacation spots. Some areas are so familiar to tourists that it’s possible to view the attractions on your own.     2     Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 are good examples. Just by walking a few blocks, you can tour Aquarium of the Bay and the Riptide Arcade on Pier 39.

3     If you go to Alcatraz Island, you have a choice of going alone, having a live tour guide or being guided by earphones. I would recommend the live tour guides. I went all three ways, and I received more enjoyment by someone telling me items interest I know I had missed on previous tours.     4     It gives you a behind-the-scenes look of colorful Chinatown. The tour covers history, traditions of the local people and culture that you probably wouldn’t know or see by travelling alone.

You can go alone to attractions or take a guided tour. It’s your choice and you can choose whichever would give you the most memorable experience.     5

A.I recommend both.
B.It’s possible to drive to the area and go alone.
C.One trip we recently took was to Washington DC.
D.Some attractions are worth having a tour guide for.
E.Chinatown Walking Tours are a tour-guided must-see.
F.That allows you to take your time and go at your own pace.
G.The tour guides know what we have never found out on our own.

2 . Tips for Cutting the Cost of Travel

Whether for pleasure or business reasons, it is normal for us to sometimes want to pack our bags, hit the road, and head to a new destination.     1    , it is not without its expenses and those expenses are capable of drilling a hole in one’s pocket if not properly planned out beforehand. Below are several tips to ensure you don’t end up too much out of pocket by the end of your travels.

2    . More often than not, people go directly to the airline websites to book their tickets. But did you know that there are so many websites, like Traveligo, which specialize in finding cheap flights for travelers? This is a great go-to website whenever you want to book your flight.

• Choose a cheaper means of transportation. While everyone likes to fly to their travel destination for ease and speed, flying isn’t the only transport option available. Depending on where you’re living and where you’re headed, you can always select public transport.     3    .

• Don’t use hotels.     4    . By using Airbnb or any of its popular competitors, travelers have the opportunity to not only live like locals but also spend far less.

• Use a travel credit card. When you apply for these cards, you can control opportunities like signing-up bonuses (红利), most of which are offered by airline credit cards.     5    . You can save yourself a lot of money by means of extra miles whenever you’re ready to hit the road.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要论述了一些徒步旅行的好处。

3 . I’m a hiker — “born to hike”. It does my heart and soul good to take a pack and head out on a trail (小路), especially when I’m alone and can let my mind wander where it will.     1    .

Hiking keeps your brain sharper than many other forms of exercise. As a professional writer, although I am busy with my work, I often spare some time to hike.    2    .

3    . Exercise in general can be a good way to decrease stress. But what sets hiking apart from other forms of exercise is that hiking can happen almost anywhere and give you the happiness that you can take from nature.

Hiking can increase our creativity. I’m sure I’m not alone in finding that walks in nature let my mind wander freely in creative directions.    4    Sometimes, ideas relevant to music come up from unconscious places when I’m not deliberately thinking.

Hiking helps strengthen a positive relationship with the natural world. Besides being good for us, hiking may also help the world around us. After all, if we stick to walking and covering longer distances, we could use cars less and reduce our carbon footprint.     5    . For example, it increases our connection to nature. As one study suggests, when we have a personal connection to nature, we are more likely to want to protect it. That means experiences in nature — like hiking — can be mutually (相互地) beneficial, helping people and the earth.

So, grab a water bottle, a backpack... and head out on the trail. You won’t be sorry you did.

A.Hiking helps to keep you calm and happy
B.Beyond that, hiking benefits our planet indirectly
C.Following are the benefits you can get from hiking
D.In fact, I’ve written many of my songs while hiking on a trail
E.It’s easy for me to come up with creative ideas while sitting alone
F.It not just makes me feel good, but also helps me keep the brain in top shape
G.This all goes to show that hiking maybe one of the best ways to move your body

We often carry a lot of things when we’re traveling.    1    On long ones we carry things like passports, visas, etc. Though traveling can be fun, we’re likely to misplace these things and even lose them because of the excitement of the journey or being too busy or tired. Don’t open it until you reach your destination (目的地).
