2 . The official operation of Universal Beijing Resort (UBR) made Beijing the hottest tourist destination recently. After about 20 years’ preparation, China’s first Universal Studios theme park, and also the biggest Universal Studios theme park in the world, has attracted great attention. It marks the entry of another international chain into China’s thriving theme park industry.

China has become the largest market for theme parks across the world. Today there are nearly 3,000 theme parks in China and over 400 among them are large-scale.

The popularity of theme parks partly comes from the intellectual property they have acquired over the years, which can include characters and stories. Take the Shanghai Disney Resort as an example. From Mickey Mouse to Snow White, Disney had a lot of elements to draw from in designing the theme park. A fan of Disney’s animations Mr. Wu said that he had visited the resort so many times because of his love of the characters and themes throughout the park.

Theme parks have played a leading role in promoting tourism and other relative kinds of consumption (消费). For the past five years, the Shanghai Disney Resort has welcomed 83 million visitors, earning over 40 billion yuan in total. Disney’s impressive performance was carefully viewed by other international firms eager to take part in China’s theme park economy, Steinbock pointed out. According to Steinbock, capital investment in China’s theme park projects in the first half of the 2020s could reach $20 billion. “These huge investments show foreign investors’ rising confidence in China’s business environment.”

“Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge impact on the global tourism market, we are still very positive on the business environment of the Chinese market,” said Tom Mehrmann, president and general manager of UBR.

文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。文章主要说明了16岁的英国女孩Alicia Adams成为了最年轻的徒步到达北极的人,介绍了他们这次冒险旅程的经过以及她父亲对此的看法。

3 . Extremely low temperature, strong winds and endless white snow are just a few of the challenges explorers must face in the Polar areas. But a 16-year-old British girl didn't let these worry her. On April 15 Alicia Adams became the youngest person to walk to the North Pole.

She completed the adventure with her geology teacher and two other companions. Each of them carried 30 kilograms of supplies. At times temperatures fell to -45C during the 320-kilometre trip. But they made it in ten days, two days less than her famous father, David Adams' time record for the same walk.

“It is a really good feeling, more of an achievement,” said Alicia Adams after coming to the end of her adventure. “The winds were like angry beasts roaring behind us. The trip seemed endless and there was nothing in sight: no buildings, no people, and no animals. Sometimes we had to walk across lakes covered with thin ice, which is the deadliest threat.”

David Adams is a top British explorer, who reached both the South and North poles on foot. He also set a series of hot air-balloon records and climbed the highest mountain on every continent. “I take pride in what she has achieved but a bit annoyed that she has beaten my time,” her father said playfully.

Asked if there would be any future joint adventures, the dad joked, “I think I would be struggling to keep up with her now.”

Alicia returned to Britain last week where she faces a more normal task of going to school. And she said her achievement would not necessarily mark the start of a life-long exploration. “Going to school is on top of my list,” she said.

1. How long did it take David Adams to complete the same adventure?
A.6 days.B.8 days.C.10 days.D.12 days.
2. What was the biggest danger during Alicia Adams' adventure?
A.The lack of equipment and supplies.
B.The angry wild animals in the polar areas.
C.The strong icy winds and endless white snow.
D.The need to cross the lakes covered with thin ice.
3. How did David Adams really feel about his daughter's adventure?
A.Angry.B.Proud.C.Worried.D.Sad.
4. What is Alicia's plan for the near future?
A.To go back to school to study.B.To start more explorations by herself.
C.To challenge more of her father's records.D.To have an adventure together with her dad.

5 . Tips for Green Travel with Kids

Traveling doesn’t mean letting go of all the eco-friendly choices we work so hard to achieve in our daily life. Here are a few tips for green travel with kids:

Booking nonstop flights whenever possible will reduce carbon emissions (碳排放). If the closest local airport doesn’t have nonstop flights to a certain place, check in with other local airports to see if nonstop flights are available.    1

Whether you’re flying or driving, it’s easy when traveling to pull into fast food restaurants for snacks.    2    My kids love to help plan snacks. I let them create their own snacks for the trip at home.

Reusable water bottles are easy to bring along whenever you travel. At the airport, keep your reusable bottles empty until you have passed through the security (安检).    3    Single-use plastic water bottles create unnecessary waste and the plastic can be harmful to your health.

4    Open a few windows and turn off the air conditioner. You should also help your children keep their good, green habits from home to place while traveling. Sometimes vacation can mean more than one shower each day — once in the morning and again after getting out of the pool. Pay attention to the number of showers and the length of showers.    5

A.Too much carbon emissions seriously pollute the environment.
B.But you can pack healthy food before starting off.
C.In this way, you can save water and energy.
D.Fill them up on the other side of the security checkpoint.
E.Security check is a necessary part of each trip.
F.Save energy by turning off the hotel room lights when you head out for the day.
G.You might have to drive a bit further, but saving on carbon emissions makes it worthwhile.

6 . The Right Ways to Travel

If you’ve never thought about your carbon footprint while traveling, it’s time to start. Adopting even one of these eco-friendly suggestions can make a big difference for our planet and future generations.

Pack to avoid single-use items

1    . Instead of cracking open a new plastic tube of shampoo, soap, and conditioner each night, buy reusable containers and filling them from your own home before travel.

Shop smart

When shopping, you may not realize that some of the products that catch your eyes are made from protected animals or plants and may be illegal to export or import.     2    , such as, “What is this product made of?” and “Does the country I’m visiting allow the sale and export of this product?”

Offset carbon emissions(抵消碳排放)

Did you know you can offset your travel emissions by helping to fund projects that reduce greenhouse-gas pollution, such as planting trees, building windmills, or using solar panels?     3    . Many travel companies are now offsetting emissions for you, or at least giving you an opt-in(选择加入) when paying.

Try ecotourism

Defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, protects the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education”, ecotourism avoids traditional mass tourism in favor of more responsible travel styles.     4    , and in Norway you can sightsee the way nature intended, by river rafting or dog sledding.

Interact with animals responsibly

It may seem exciting to pet a tiger in Thailand, or ride an elephant in India, but these experiences are typically cruel and dangerous to the animals. Instead, there is no need to touch animals.     5

A.Try to pack in a simple way
B.You can learn a lot from your travel
C.You don’t have to do the labor yourself
D.Observing them faraway is the best way to interact with wildlife
E.Hotel-room wash supplies are a big contributor to the waste stream
F.To make an informed choice, ask questions before making a purchase
G.For example, in Costa Rica you can sleep at an eco-cottage in the rainforest
