Before leaving for my study tour,I was excited and fearful at the same time. I could not wait to start all of the adventures that I knew Australia could offer, but I was    1    (terrible) afraid of being alone and missing out on the events    2    would go on at home while I was gone.

Looking back now I feel silly for allowing these    3    (worry) to cloud my mind. While missing things     4    home with loved ones did make me feel sad from time to time, I continuously reminded    5     that no one back at home was experiencing the new and amazing things that I was in a foreign country.

One of the most     6    (impress) parts of studying abroad was the chance    7    (make) new friends from all over the world.I now have some of the best friends of my life from places like Canada, Australia,Denmark,Italy    8    even Sri Lanka.Spending time with people from all over the world    9    (open) my eyes to the way things are done in other countries. Before studying abroad, I only really knew what it was like to live in the United States But now I have     10    greater knowledge of the cultures of different countries throughout the world than before.

My time here in China is going well. I love my new school and     1     (classmate). Over the October holiday, my parents and I     2     (plan) to go to Xi’an to see the terracotta Army. I’ve heard that it is     3     amazing sight, and I can’t wait     4     (go). To me, the story of the Terracotta Army is almost     5     (believe). It’s     6     (real) amazing that there are more than 8, 000 statues, and no one in modern times knew about them     7    the 1970s.

We’re also planning to visit several other places in Xi’an. My dad and I are both looking forward to going to the Shaanxi History Museum, because     8     loves history. I have heard     9     this museum is known     10     a “Chinese treasure house”! We’re also going to the Xi’an City Wall and a few other famous sights.

The National Art Gallery, located at the heart of Canberra, Australia, is     1    must to visit. The architecture of the gallery itself is impressive and unique. Many types of paintings are separately on display     2    (base) on the painters’ country of origin. It is roughly estimated that there are at least a thousand paintings in the gallery.     3    even has a special section where paintings by art students are exhibited. The quality and the imagination of the young painters     4    (be) also extraordinary.

Among all those exhibits, the aboriginal (土著的) paintings are the most     5     (strike). There is a sad history surrounding the natives of Australia. In the 19th century, when white settlers came to Australia, most of the children of the aboriginals     6     (take) away from their own parents and brought up by white parents. During holidays, the gallery is always crowded     8     parents and their children. It is amazing     9     (see) small children appreciating such abstract paintings.

As the bus drove across Sydney Harbor Bridge, the city’s famous Sydney Opera House     1    (come) into sight. White as a pearl, as if numerous seashells lined the shores, the great building seemed to bloom like a graceful lotus(荷花). The sky above matched     2     (it) beauty. The iron structure of Sydney Bridge looked like a giant’s arm, embracing the opera house, crowning it the jewel of the sea.

The boat-ride afterwards was     3    (extreme) amazing as well. Plates of food, drinks and various desserts provided a feast fit     4     a king. The towering ancient buildings, with their fantastic carvings, gave me     7     magical feeling in the afternoon sun. Their beauty was matched only by the blossoming roses on the ground, making the university quite     8    (enjoy)for studying.

Another     9    (attract) was Bondi Beach. The white sand was made smooth by the waves. The blue sea-line was met with on-going waves, blue water, clear skies and laughing people. I had my slippers put on, so I walked down into the shallows to feel the sand and water flow over my feet.

My Travel Experience in China

During the summer holidays I visited a variety of regions in China.

My first stop was Beijing and of course the Great Wall. Without question it lived up to my     1     (expect).

After a long journey, I reached Yunnan. With     2     (it) minority villages and impressive landscapes, Yunnan had a lot to offer. One of my     3     (enjoy) moments in Yunnan was during my visit to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The climb over the gorge was at times exhausting     4     always breathtaking. The beauty of its views couldn’t     5     (imagine) and they     6     (leave) me with many great memories.

After taking a boat from the mainland, I arrived at     7     island province of Hainan. There I visited Baihua Waterfall. Floating on a pool of water at the base and looking up at the waterfall with a background of blue sky was one of the most     8     (relax) experiences of my life.

Throughout China there are many ancient buildings and in particular ancient towns. Lijiang and Dali both have glorious     9     (example) of this. It was remarkable to step back in time and get an idea of     10     China might have looked like all those years ago. I thought the buildings were beautiful and full of history.

I had a wonderful time! China is both fascinating and beautiful!
