Huangshan,     1    (locate) in Anhui province in eastern China, is one of China’s major tourist attractions.

Guilin was at the top of my must-see list last October. I took a boat down the Lijiang River to Yangshuo. I spent roughly four hours on the boat     3     (wind) down the river. As I watched a water buffalo cool off in the water and fishermen float past on their bamboo rafts, I suddenly felt very far     5     (remove) from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai.

Though every place I visited was beautiful, none was more picturesque     6     Yangshuo. It’s a paradise (天堂) for anyone     7     loves nature and the great outdoors. The mountains were the main reason why I’d traveled to Guilin, so I wanted to make sure I was outside exploring as much as possible and the best way to take it all in was     8     bike.

It was difficult to avoid crowds in Guilin during the October holiday. However, I found once I headed off the beaten track, I     9     (surround) by a sense of peace and calm set against one of     10     (nature) most amazing background.

Shortly after dawn, the 680-year-old Lion Grove Garden wakes up to the sound of birds and its moist air is suffused with ascent. With a view of pavilions, early     1     (visitor) to this garden in downtown Suzhou, can feel     2     sense of Zenlike inner peace.

When monks during the Yuan Dynasty first constructed this garden, they may have wanted to enjoy a quiet retreat. But this charming garden has attracted celebrity guests,     3     have left poems, paintings and     4     (history) anecdotes in the following centuries.

“In recent years, we’ve tried     5     (restore) the landscapes of classical gardens, but a delicate garden cannot be an empty shell,” says Bai Lingzhi, deputy director of Suzhou Administrative Bureau of Garden and Landscaping. “We need creative ideas to lead people to the lifestyle     6     (advocate) by the gardens in the era,” she explains.

This is a true story about something that happened to me last summer. I was spending the holiday    1    (happy) with my family at a beach in the south of England. I was very    2    (interest) in exploring the local area, so one morning I    3    (wake) up early and set off along the quiet road. In my eagerness to discover the local area, I forgot     4    ( tell ) my parents where I was going.

It was a hot, sunny morning and I soon felt thirsty, but I was determined to challenge    5    (me) by walking to the highest point. I’m a good walker and so I pushed my way up the hill, although it was quite hard work. At the top, I saw many birds    6     (fly) around their nests(鸟巢). Feeling curious, I left the road and moved towards the nests. Aha, there were some baby birds in the nest. “If I take     7     picture of the baby birds, will I be attacked?” With     8    (butterfly) in my stomach, I held my camera up and pointed it at the birds.

Just then, one of the birds made a loud noise. I was so surprised     9    I dropped my camera! I didn’t have time to worry     10    it, though. To protect their nests, the birds started to fly at me one by one to make me go away. I rushed back down the hill. Near the bottom of the hill, I heard a car engine. It was my mum’s car! I jumped in and shut the door, looking at her in panic.   “Go! Go! Go!” I shouted. I spent the rest of the summer saving up for a new camera.

I came out of the railway station. It was raining     1     (heavy). Nothing was     2     (bad) than the terrible weather. It was my first visit to Hangzhou to celebrate my uncle’s     3     (fifty) birthday. I called a taxi     4     asked the driver to take me to City Square. We     5     (drive) off slowly through the rush-hour traffic. By now     6     sun was setting, I hoped to catch some of the famous     7     (place), such as the West lake or the Leifeng Pagoda.

The driver asked     8     (I), “It’s your fist time to come to Hanghou, isn’t it?” I nodded. “It will be     9     (sun) tomorrow,” he added. “That’ll be good,” I said. “I was dreaming     10     going to Qiandao Lake.”

Visits to Red tourism attractions are expected to rise this year as the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrates the 100th anniversary of     1     (it) founding.
