Kittery Charm
Kittery Charm is Maine’s oldest town, with a history going back to 1623. Old-fashioned houses and a small but unique downtown make this a must stop on your trip. The town is away from the highway. Go window-shopping, get a bite in one of the fine restaurants, such as local favorite Lil’s café, and then head out to Fort McClary, a protected spot for more than 275 years.
Pemaquid Peninsula Walk
Spend a full day exploring a peninsula (半岛) favored by artists such as Edward Hopper. After a typical fantastic breakfast in Damariscotta, just off Route 1, head south to New Harbor and sign up for a half-day trip with Maine Kayak. You’ll explore Muscongus Bay and its wonderful views of land and sea. Then take a look at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse built in 1827, the Keeper’s House, Fisherman’s Museum, which offer a taste of local life.
The Bold Coast
The small town of Cutler offers a number of exciting possibilities, starting with a hike on a lovely land of the Bold Coast Path through coastal forests then the blueberry (蓝莓) fields where you can enjoy the freshest wild blueberries. For a real Maine experience, spend the night in the Little River Lighthouse built in 1888 and taste the freshest seafood nearby.
East Down Farthest
Located on the most eastern point of the United States, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, dating from 1858, catches the first rays (光线) of morning sun. You’ll have some local seafood at Becky’s Seafood and spend the night at the Peacock House, a former ship captain’s home facing the Bay of Fundy.

9 . Canada: off the beaten track — three to see
Rocky Mountains
The Rockies run along the Alberta-British Columbia border and are inside two huge national parks — Banff to the south and Jasper to the north. Banff was Canada’s first wildlife reserve and these days the town of Banff is the most popular tourist destination in the country. But Jasper National Park is larger, wilder, and less well-explored. Between the parks of Banff and Jasper is the Columbia Icefield, a huge bowl of ice made up of about thirty glaciers. If you don’t like ice, the Rockies offer wildlife walks, swimming, camping, hiking, canoeing, mountain climbing, and plenty of places to stay. Accommodation costs(住宿费)are usually lower at the Jasper end of this superb mountain playground.
Lunenburg
Lunenburg is south from Halifax, along a foggy coast of rocky seas, fishing villages, and historic towns. It is a beautiful little shipbuilding town and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Fishing has always been big in Lunenburg: most of Atlantic Canada’s deep-sea fishing boats leave from here, and North America’s biggest fish-processing factory is located in the town. Lunenburg still has many wooden buildings and as a result feels like an 18th century British colonial(殖民时期的)town. You can visit the town’s Fisheries Museum or just wander around, looking at the wooden houses in the old streets — and of course have a dinner of seafood.
Churchill
One of the few places in the north that is “easy” to get to, Churchill is a 1.5-day train journey from Winnipeg. Churchill is a major port, but eco-tourism is becoming more and more important. Although it is freezing, many visitors come to see the polar bears, whales, Arctic foxes, and if they are lucky, the Northern Lights. Churchill calls itself the “Polar Bear Capital of the World”, and for a good reason: the town sits right in the middle of the animals’ migration route, and the cute but deadly white bears sometimes wander into the town. Tours to see the bears from September to November are the most popular attraction.

Pretty much anyone can book a trip, but not everyone plan a perfect adventure that's affordable, accommodating, and fun for everyone in your group. Here are some insider tips that we'd like to share with you about Hotels.
Check Distance on a Map
It is not uncommon for hotels to advertise their proximity(邻近) to attractions and services around town. If being close to a particular airport or landmark important for your trip, verify distances on Google Maps before you book a hotel.
Skip the Package Deals
To attract new guests, sometimes these deals that sound exciting but may not be worth it. Just know that sometimes these packages include things you don't even want or need and that the special rate could be higher than the regular rate.
Don't Pay for the Mini Bar
Mini bar charges are frequently disputed because they are stocked by hand and often miscalculated. Carefully review your hotel's itemized bill and if you see any mini bar charges that aren't right, dispute them. Most front desk staff won’t hesitate to void the charges.
Understand Room Preferences Aren't Guaranteed
Hotel booking include preferences like bed size and the number of beds. But in many hotels, travelers should know that these preferences aren’t guaranteed. You’ll usually get what you asked for, but not always.
Mention Special Occasions
Many of us travel for birthday, anniversaries, and special events. Mention what you're celebrating to the hotel staff a week or more before you arrive and you might be surprised, like a bottle of champagne in your room.
Be Polite to the Staff
A little niceness goes a long way, especially with hotel staff that has to deal with difficult guests on a regular basis. When you check in, simply ask how the front desk clerk's day is going and say hello to the cleaning staff when you pass them in the hall. This isn't just common courtesy, but it also increases your chances of getting perks(额外待遇) during your stay.
Bundle(捆绑) a Hotel Stay with Airfare
If you've got your trip all planned out and know your itinerary, consider building your hotel room with your airfare for better price. Some websites offer travel packages that combine both accommodations and flights, which can help you save significantly on your hotel room.
Ask for a Corner Room
When you check in at a hotel, discretely ask if there's a corner room available. These are usually larger and quieter for the same price as ones in the middle of the hall. Upgrades are most often offered at the end of the day when hotels have a better sense of their occupancy.
