3 . Some people consider devices like iPhones and laptops to be a roadblock to an enjoyable vacation. But for my recent trip to Europe, using gadgets enhanced my journey without breaking the bank.

Here are some international technology travel tips:

TripIt:

The best way to keep track of your flight details and other travel information is with a free account at TripIt.com. As you book flights and hotels, just send the confirmation e-mails to plans @ tripit.com and the service will automatically create an itinerary (行程表) for you. TripIt offers a great free app that will let you access your travel plans when you are offline, as long as you sync (同步) it once when you have an Internet connection.

Google Maps

We added a 50 MB international data plan so we could access Google Maps walking directions. Since it’s hard to quantify how much data you will need, use the iPhone’s cellular (无线的,蜂窝的) network data trackers to keep track of usage and use little of your phone. Turn off automatic e-mail checking and active notifications, and put the phone in airplane mode whenever you are not using it. While Google’s walking directions came in handy many times, they weren’t always correct, so it’s smart to keep an old-fashioned paper map as well. You’ll also want to carry an iPhone charger with you, or spare battery for when you run out of juice.

Riversteves

Many of Europe’s world-class museums such as the Louvre in Paris and the Prado in Madrid have portable audio tour guides, but the guides can cost as much as 6 euros each in addition to your admission.

In some cases, we skipped the museum guides and downloaded free high-quality podcast audio tours from well-known travel author and TV host Rick Steves. The free audio tours can be downloaded from riversteves.com or iTunes, and they feature pictures for each stop on the tour so you can make sure you are in the right place.

1. Which of the following can help you track your travel details?
A.iTunes.B.Riversteves.C.TripIt.D.Google Map.
2. What does Riversteves offer you?
A.Beautiful pictures of world-class museums.B.Free podcast audio tours.
C.Exciting travel stories of Rick Steves.D.Charged audio tour guides.
3. What do these apps have in common?
A.They mainly save money in the holiday.
B.They aim to keep track of the new technology.
C.They make for a good holiday experience.
D.They guarantee good preparations for the holiday.

6 . So you’re looking to ski at one of the best? We’ve done the hard work for you.

Breckenridge

Breckenridge is an extremely popular ski destination. It’s undoubtedly an awesome mountain to ride, but it can also get discouragingly crowded. This isn’t surprising given all the things Breckenridge has going for it: affordable lodging(借宿), an abundance of slopes and North America’s highest lift. The town atmosphere is fun and relaxing, plus there are a ton of shopping, dining, and drinking options to choose from. With so much to offer, Breckenridge makes for a great ski resort that suits all budgets.

Aspen Snowmass

Aspen is the ultimate ski destination for the rich and has evolved into four separate ski areas: Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk, and Aspen Highlands. They’ re all linked by a shuttle system, accessible with a single ticket, and gathered around one of the greatest ski towns in the world. Aspen is truly the king of après-ski(滑雪后的社交娱乐)with endless dining and nightlife options! It’s also one of the few ski resorts in Colorado where you won’t be affected by altitude sickness. For all the appeal that brings celebrities here, Aspen does come at a price.

Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole is infamous for its extreme terrain(地形)and steeps with the most continuous vertical in the US. Although it has the reputation of an expert’s paradise, recent improvements have made intermediate terrain easier to access. On the other side, Jackson Hole is not ideal for first-timers and kids due to the lack of beginner terrain. Crowds can also be an issue. If you’ re looking for ski-in/ski-out access, stay in Teton Village which has a handful of bars; if not, the town of Jacks.

1. If you are a new learner with a tight budget, which skiing resort may you choose?
A.Breckenridge.B.Aspen Snowmass.
C.Jackson Hole.D.Aspen Highlands.
2. What can we learn about Aspen Snowmass?
A.One ticket can be used in 4 ski areas.B.It offers limited social activities.
C.It is an economical choice to ski there.D.Visitors will feel sick for its high altitude.
3. What’s the same disadvantage of Breckenridge and Jackson Hole?
A.They are not friendly to beginners.B.They are very crowded sometimes.
C.The traffic is not very convenient.D.The price is expensive.
