Global warming is causing many physical risks such as droughts, wildfires, and floods.     1    (luck) , some countries have started planning ahead. The South Korean City of Busan, and other cities     2    (join) forces to build the world's first prototype(原型) floating city in order to get ahead     3     physical risks in recent years.

As the population rises, more and more people are being pushed to coastal cities.     4     , these regions are easily affected by floods and hurricanes. Part of climate change     5    (adapt) is building the kinds of cities that can withstand these risks. The technology and science     6    (use) in this first prototype city could be repeated in other cities.

The city of Busan,     7     is also bidding for World Expo 2030, is one of the most important maritime     8    (city) of the 21st century and an ideal location for the first prototype floating city.

The new floating city will consist of a series of hexagonal(六边形的) platforms and will benefit from a limestone coating that when     9    (expose) to an electric current, it can be used to repair itself. The city will be completely self-sufficient,     10    (develop) its own food and water, and will be immune to all kinds of climate change-related threats including category 5 hurricanes. All in all, the city will be a notable example of the cities of the future.

Tibet was a region I was desperate to see,     1     its remoteness and my inability to go delayed my journey. Last summer, my brother and I finally decided to take the trip.

We set off at the Guangzhou train station and three days later, we arrived in Lhasa. The trip certainly took a while; however, we     2     (reward) with the most beautiful views and made friends along the way, all at a     3     (low) cost than flying.

About a week later, we arrived. We stayed in a guesthouse just next to the base camp and after dropping off our luggage,     9     (head) straight outside to see the Mt. Qomolangma. I’ve had my fair share of travelling around China, and a recent week-long trip to Guizhou was my first time to the province. I tried looking up the meaning and significance of the name Guizhou before the trip,     1     (basic)to have a reasonable idea of what was in store for me. But that was     2     hard task so I inquired from a Chinese colleague on the trip. From what she said, initially the province     3     (name)after a famous mountain called “Gui”, sort of noble in literal translation and “zhou”, which simply means province in Chinese.     4     (keep)that in mind I set out on a journey of discovery and     5     I found was mind-blowing, a photographer’s paradise. Generally     6     (describe)as a mountainous province in southwestern China, with Guiyang as     7     (it)capital, the province is truly one of nature’s best kept secrets. Compared to other leading     8     (province)in China, with regard     9     development, Guizhou has some catching-up to do. However, the province remains unique not only for its amazing landscape,     10     for the role it played in the political history of modern China and the role it is to play in the world.

This is one of the most beautiful highways in China. It passes through     1    (thousand) of islands in the West Sea of Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province. There are more than 1,600 islands in this area of water,     2     (create)a "lake of a thousand islands". The lake is vast and tranquil（安静）, with an average    3    (deep) of 45 meters. On a good day, the visibility in the lake can reach up to 11 meters. 60 kilometers to the northeast of the West Sea, there's     4     mountainous area. This is the famous Lushan Mountain.

Lushan Mountain is not one single mountain,     5    rather a large upland(高地) area consisting of 90 continuous peaks, in which the highest one is 1,474 meters above sea level. Over tens of thousands of years, tectonic movements, glacier erosion, flowing water and other geological processes have created the diverse landscapes of Lushan Mountain. Running to the north of Lushan Mountain is the Yangtze, the     6    (long) river in China. The intense humidity endows(天生赋予) Lushan with abundant water resources. There are 22 waterfalls within the mountain. Lushan Mountain    7    (cover) in mist for nearly 200 days of the year. The average temperature here is 5-6 degrees Celsius lower than that in the plains at the same latitude. It     8    (be) a famous summer resort since ancient times. There's a "City in the Clouds" some 1,100 meters above sea level in the mountains. More than 100 years ago, a missionary from the UK built villas(别墅) here. The average temperature in summer is only 22 degree Celsius, so it's named Kuling, a name which comes     9     the English "cooling". Today, these ancient villas are still serving tourists     10     come here to spend the summer.

I have been in Taiyuan, the provincial capital of Shanxi, for two years since I     1    (admit) to a PhD program in Shanxi University as an international student.

The Jingshan Park    1     (locate) in Jingshan Front St. Xicheng District, Beijing. On Beijing’s Central Axis(中轴线) in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it is the imperial（帝国的） garden of the two dynasties. Many people may not know Jingshan is not a     2     (nature) mountain. So why did it appear on the Beijing Central Axis complex? And how did it come into being? It used to be part of the course of the Yongding River. Chinese ancestors     3     (use) the method of digging-a-lake-&-building-a-mountain. Since the Liao Dynasty, it     4     (pile) up for more than 700 years, then the scale of the mountain gradually formed. During the Yuan Dynasty, Jingshan was at the center, and an imperial palace was built to the south of it,     5     the Drum Tower was built to the north. Therefore, Jingshan not only became the benchmark of urban planning at that time,     6     formed a similar urban spatial pattern with Jingshan at the center. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the imperial court greatly expanded Jingshan, while also building a pavilion on each of the five peaks. Among the five pavilions(亭阁), the Wanchun Pavilion located on    7     top of the hill and on the central axis, with a relative height of 45.7 meters, is the     8     (high) and best scenic look-out on Beijing’s north-south Central Axis.     9     (look) south from here, you can see roofs of the Forbidden City are golden yellow. Jingshan is a creation of wisdom of the ancestors. It makes use of the waste brick and soil, and     10     (clever) accumulates them into the brightest pearl in the center of Beijing in the Ming Dynasty. It not only makes up for the single layout of the Central Axis complex, but also makes Beijing even more magnificent!
