On Thursday, National Geographic will show the first-ever Mars show home, giving earthlings (地球人)an idea of what their life could look like on the Red Planet. In the not-so-distant year of 2037, the igloo-shaped structure could be the home of your future.
It shows a house built using recycled spacecraft parts and Martian soil, called regolith, which has been microwaved into bricks. Some parts of the home are recognizable — a kitchen, a bedroom — but there are fundamental differences that are important to human survival.
As the Martian atmosphere is around one hundredth as thick as the Earth’s, people will need permanent (永久的) shelter from the sun；society will move largely indoors. Most buildings will be connected by underground passages and the houses won't have windows. The homes will have simulated solar lighting, or natural light that has been bent several times. Walls will need to be 10 to 12 feet thick, to protect people from dangerous rays (光线)that can pass through six feet of steel, and a double air-locked entrance to keep the home under proper pressure.
"We don’t think of our houses as things that keep us alive, but on Mars your house will be a survival centre, 99 says Stephen Petranek, author of How We’ll Live on Mars. This is not just the stuff of sci-fi. “10 to 20 years from now there will certainly be people on Mars,” Petranek says.
“We’ve had the technology for 30 years to land people on Mars, but we haven’t had the will, ”Petranek says. But two main factors have “completely swung public attitudes”.
The private companies’ participation has forced government agencies to speed up their game, and influential films such as Gravity and The Martian have caught society’s eye.

Houses will be equipped with the latest AI technologies, such as in-home robotics to assist with daily work and to check people' s health, Both neighborhood parks and a large central park for recreation and social gatherings are designed to bring the people together.
Toyota plans to populate the city with Toyota Motor Corporation employees and their families, visiting scientists and industry partners. The plan is for 2, 000 people to start, adding more as the ;project develops.
“Building a complete city from scratch, even in a small size like this, is a unique chance to develop future technologies. With people, buildings and vehicles all connected and communicating with each other through sensors, we will be able to test connected AI technology in both the virtual(虚拟的) and the physical areas to maximize its potential,” said Akio Toyoda，president of Toyota Motor Corporation.

4 . A four-wheeled pod shaped like a space capsule on riverside roads trundles slowly among people who run, walk, cycle and lead dogs. At a maximum speed of 10 mph, the car beeps as it moves regularly between the Inter Continental Hotel in the west of the peninsula and apartment blocks in the east.
The biggest surprise about the vehicle is not its futuristic appearance but how it is controlled. While current safety rules require a human to monitor the vehicle’s performance and step in to avoid crashes, the pod largely drives itself. It is one of several experiments worldwide aimed at exploring how autonomous vehicles might mesh with city transport systems. All are looking at how a technology being developed mainly for US highways can work in the more confined, chaotic space of city streets.
At the heart of these efforts is an attempt to work out whether driverless vehicles will ease or worsen the impact that private car travel has had on many cities following the highway-building craze of the mid-20th century.
Some fear the technology could prompt more journeys by private motor vehicles rather than more space-efficient public transport. If the technology provides comfortable, stress-free, private journeys, it might also prompt people to commute daily from further afield, generating yet more traffic.
Experts concerned about such impacts on behaviour argue it is vital that the roll-out of autonomous vehicle technology goes hand-in-hand with a rethink of how it is used.
David Begg, a former chairman of the UK’s Commission for Integrated Transport, accepts that autonomous vehicles will use road space more efficiently but says the problem remains that cars take up too much space for the people they carry. On average, most vehicles contain little more than one person — the driver.
“There’s no doubt autonomous vehicles can allow us to squeeze more vehicles into a given amount of capacity because they’re bumper-to-bumper and side-by-side,” prof Begg says. “Unless we can increase vehicle occupancy up from 1.1, we’re moving too much fresh air and not enough people.”
