Three fish lived in the sea when they were young. Their parents died. They had to look after each other. Finally, they grew up and decided to swim deeper and further. One morning the three fish were taken to shallow water by a big wave.
Never had the three fish been to such a place. Everything was so different. They had great fun swimming around. Then, with another big wave, a small boat was taken there too. Now it was hard for the fish to go back to the sea, because the boat was right in front of them.
The largest fish realized that they were in danger and said, “We have to find a way to leave here as fast as possible, or it will be dangerous.” The second largest fish agreed with his elder brother and decided to go with him. However, the youngest one decided not to leave at all, saying “It’s not dangerous at all. Look! There is much water for our activities.” No matter how hard his brothers tried to persuade him to leave, the youngest fish wouldn’t listen.
At last, the largest fish managed to find a way to return to the sea. He found the lowest part of the boat and jumped over it. Challenging as it was, he made it. The second largest fish also succeeded in joining his elder brother in the other side of the water, but the youngest one didn’t follow them, still swimming around joyfully.

Long long ago, there was a little prince who was used to having everything he wanted. He was so badly behaved that he wouldn’t let anybody have a new toy if he didn’t have it first. If any child in the land wanted a new toy, they had to buy two and give one to him. Therefore, the little prince had no friends except for his toys.
One day a magic toymaker, who invented the most wonderful toys, came to the land. The little prince liked his toys so much that he invited him to spend an entire year in the palace, promising him great wealth if he made him a new toy every day. The toymaker set just one condition: “My toys are very special and need an owner who will play with them” he said. “Will you be able to devote a little time to each one every day?” “Of course, I will” the little prince replied impatiently.
From then on, every morning the little prince received a new toy. Every day the toymaker delivered a toy better than the previous ones. The little prince appeared very happy.
But the toy collection kept growing and, after a few weeks there were simply too many toys to play with all of them every day. So, one day the little prince put a few toys to one side, hoping that the toymaker wouldn’t notice. However, when it was night time and he was ready to go to bed. The toys that had been put away lined up in front of him and, one by one, demanded their daily playtime. The little prince couldn’t get to sleep until well past midnight because he had to play with every single toy.
Next day, tired after all his efforts, the prince slept very late. In the little time left of the day, he had to get to know a new toy and then play with all the others too. Once again, he finished very late and was so tired he could hardly stop yawning (打哈欠).

A cactus (仙人掌) stood all alone in the desert, wondering why it was stuck in the middle of the desert. “I do nothing but stand here all day,” it sighed. “What use do I have? I am the ugliest plant in the desert. My spines (刺) are thick, my leaves are tough, and my skin is uneven. I can’t offer shade or juice to the passing travellers. I don’t see that I am of any use at all.” All it did was stand in the sun day after day, growing taller and fatter. Its spines grew longer and its leaves grew tougher. It truly was strange-looking.
“I wish I could do something useful,” it signed. By day, hawks (鹰) circled high overhead, and the cactus called, “What can I do with my life?” Whether they heard or not, the hawks flew away. At night the moon floated into the sky and cast its pale light on the desert floor. “What can I do with my life?” the cactus called. The moon only stared coldly as it continued its course.
A lizard (蜥蜴) passed by, leaving a little trail in the sand with its tail. “What worthy deed can I do?” the cactus called. “You?” the lizard smiled, pausing a moment. “You can do something. Just wait for the right moment. The hawks circle their ways overhead, making beautiful patterns for us all to admire. The moon hangs high like a lantern at night, so we can see our ways home to our loved ones. Even I, the lowly lizard, have something to do. I decorate the sands with these beautiful trails as I pull my tail along. And you, you will show us your beauty some day.”
Paragraph 1:
It went on year after year, and the cactus grew old.

Long ago, in a remote village, there was a place known as the House of 1,000 Mirrors, which a great number of people visited every day. Nobody knew why the house had been built with so many mirrors.
A happy little dog heard of this place and decided to pay a visit himself. He ran all of his way with a happy heart. So long was the way that he spent many days on his way. When he arrived, although tired, he jumped happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. There was a hole in the door. He looked through the hole with his ears lifting high and his tail shaking as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself looking at 1, 000 other happy little dogs with their tails shaking just as fast as his. He laughed a lot, and was answered with 1, 000 great smiles just as warm and kind as his. As he left the house, he said to himself, “This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often. And I will tell all my friends to come here to enjoy the wonderful sight.”
In this same village, another little dog, which was sad and blue all the day, also decided to visit the house. After running on the way for so long a time, he felt tired as well as depressed. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head as he looked into the hole in the door. To his great surprise, he saw the 1, 000 unfriendly dogs looking at him, so he barked at them right away.

December 16 was an old man's 75th birthday. His health had not been good over the past few years and it was hard for him to run his family business. So he had to decide which one of his sons would take his place.
As they gathered to celebrate their father's birthday, he announced his retirement.“Dad,I can't imagine a day without you as the head of the business,"one said.
There was a silence. Surely the question playing on their minds was “Who would take his place?"The old man turned and walked toward the corner of the room where there were three empty boxes.“Come and take one box each. They are of equal size. On the first day of the New Year when we return here to celebrate, I want you to bring your box filled with what you believe to be the most valuable of this business, then I'll decide who will be chairman,” the old man said.
During the next fifteen days, the families and workers could feel a strong competitive spirit between the three boys.
One carried the box nearly everywhere he went.Another ran department to department asking for records. The third man simply left the box empty at his desk.
On January 1,the family gathered to celebrate. Right after dinner, the old man said,“Well, please share with men what you have placed in your box.” The first son pulled the business ledger(分类账本)from his box. Saying nothing, the old man asked for the second son to share. The son showed him to the safe, where he could see a box full of jewels.

Aladdin and his mother lived a poor life in Arabia. One day, he got an old lamp under a tree. WHOOSH! When he rubbed it, noise, fire and red smoke came from the lamp, and out of the smoke came a very big jinnee(神仙). “ I’ am slave of the lamp. What is your wish, master?” Cried the jinnee.
With this magic lamp, Aladdin and his mother became rich and he even married the princess. He owned all the happiness. Meanwhile, he was respected by people around for his kindness to the poor. However, he was envied by Abanazar a magician from Morocco who wanted Aladdin’s magic lamp very much but he didn’t know where the lamp was hidden. So he got out his seven black stones which were magic too, and put them in water. Then he was informed that the lamp was in a palace in Arabia.
Abanazar flew to the palace and plotted his dirty plans. For the next week Abanazar watched Aladdin’s palace until Aladdin and his friends left the palace to go hunting in the hills one day.
Abanazar passed off himself as an old man, selling lamps in the street. “But not for money.” a slave-girl reported to the princess, “the old man said, ‘New lamps for old. Give me an old lamp and you can have a new one’. So every body’s getting a new lamp.”
“Yes, my husband’s old lamp! Go and give it to the old man”, the princess knew nothing about the lamp and its magic, “ Aladdin will be happy to have a nice new lamp!”
The old man(it was Abanazar ,of course) fled into the hills with the magic lamp in such a hurry that his magic stones were left on the floor in front of the palace.
