Ballet

Ballet teaches grace, posture (姿势) and flexibility. Students focus on the use of proper ballet items (物品), expanding their knowledge of classical ballet techniques and improving motor skills for classical ballet practice. The class is a formal ballet class.

Creative Movers

Students can explore creative movement, balance, focus, the development of skills, motor planning and balance. The class helps build strength, flexibility and self-confidence, and allows children to realize expression in a positive and encouraging environment. Children use their imagination to celebrate movement and have lots of fun.

Age: 3 — 5

Jazz

Jazz includes movements from both classical ballet and dance techniques. This class will focus on traditional Jazz dance. Students will be introduced to jazz-style rhythms and movements. In order to ensure proper placement for your child, we invite all students to participate in a sample (示例) class. Students and parents work with program staff to meet students’ personal dance goals.

Hip Hop

Students will be introduced to several different aspects of hip hop dance including Popping, Locking, Breaking and Tutting in a high-energy environment. Our hip hop instructors are highly knowledgeable and will provide students with a wonderful view of hip hop dance.

2 . Although most games have winners and losers, the goal of sports is not to win every game. The real goals include getting exercise, having fun, and learning important social skills, like sportsmanship.

Good sportsmanship is all about respect. Good sports (有体育精神的人) respect their teammates and also their opponents. They respect their coaches, and they also respect the referees or other officials involved in their games.     1     They shout at their teammates and they talk back to coaches or referees.

Kids usually learn sportsmanship good and bad from the adults in their lives.     2     If parents and coaches show disrespect for other fans, referees, or each other, kids will likely act the same way on the field.

    3     Some of them are very basic and easy to do, like shaking hands with other players before a game. Other examples may take a little more courage, such as acknowledging a great play made by the opposing team.

Learning good sportsmanship is important because it helps you develop an attitude of graciousness (礼貌) and respect that will carry over into all the other areas of your life.     4     Being a good sport in the classroom will eventually lead to being a good sport in the workplace.

So be a good sport in whatever you do!     5     When others see you acting in a way that makes it clear that winning isn’t the most important thing, you can move on to focusing on the important things, like having fum, getting exercise, and improving your skills!

3 . The number of weather-related disasters has increased by five times over the past 50 years, the latest report by the World Meteorological (气象) Organization (WMO) said on September. However, thanks to improved early warning systems and disaster management, the number of death from these hazards (危险) has been almost three times less.

According to the WMO, from 1970 to 2019, weather, climate and water hazards accounted for 50 percent of all disasters. Among the top 10 hazards that led to the largest loss of human life during this period were droughts, storms, floods and extreme temperatures. However, deaths fell from over 50, 000 in the 1970s to less than 20, 000 in the 2010s.

“Weather, climate and water extremes are increasing and will become more frequent and severe in many parts of the world as a result of climate change,” says WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas.

“That means more heat waves, drought and forest fires such as those we have observed recently in Europe and North America. We have more water vapor in the atmosphere, which is worsening extreme rainfall and deadly flooding. The warming of the oceans has affected the frequency and area of existence of the most intense tropical storms.”

“Economic losses are increasing as exposure increases. But behind the statistics lies a message of hope. Improved multi-hazard early warning systems have led to a significant reduction in deaths. Quite simply, we are better than ever before at saving lives,” Taalas said.

Looking Up

Looking Up tells a story about the influence of a father's education. Ma Haowen, the father, always tries to educate his child in his unique way; creating a relatively relaxing environment for his son. The only one requirement he has for his son is to never stop thinking. He hopes that his child can think independently and follow his heart to face the world bravely. With the encouragement and love of the father, his son achieves his dream of becoming an astronaut.

I am Sam

I am Sam tells a story about an unusual father and his daughter. Sam is a disabled person with mental disability. Although his intelligence is just as the same as a seven-year-old child, he loves his daughter with all his heart. When his daughter is taken away from him, he does his best to fight for custody(监护).

The Father

The Father tells the story of an elderly father suffering from an illness. Anthony has loved his daughter Anne for his whole life. As he is a highly independent man, he refuses all the help from his daughter, even as he gets old and ill. However, the Alzheimer's disease starts to take away Anthony's memories and independence. He forgets everything but he can recognize his daughter Anne.

Yu Rong, a famous artist, thinks of a new way to introduce the ancient story of Hua Mulan in her picture book. In the book, I Am Hua Mulan, she tells the story by    1     (combine) paper cutting with international artistic styles. She places paper-cuts over western-style pencil sketches(素描)    2    (create) a typical presentation of Chinese elements, which turns out to be a    3    (success) and impressive breakthrough.

Hua Mulan,    4    story has been told by generations in China, was a fighter from the Northern Wei Dynasty(386-534). As    5    devoted daughter, she dressed herself as a man to serve in the army    6    place of her father.Mulan's characteristics, such as courage, kindness and disinterest in fame and fortune, made    7    (she) one of the most respected historical Chinese heroines. Mulan's story has been adapted    8    (frequent) in the modern media. For example, in 1998, Disney produced a film named Mulan, which    9    (consider) a great success by critics and the public.

To better tell the story, Yu Rong draws inspiration from her several    10    (visit)to sites of ancient battles and Henan Opera.
