Tap Dance is a special dance form. It     1     to the 1700s. The tap dancers make different     2     through their skills of footwork. In 1844, an African American dancer, William Henry Lane     3     the famous Irish American dancer, John Diamond, in a competition in New York. And this won him the     4     of the Champion Dancer of the World. And in today’s world, we have Michelle Dorrance. Dorrance is a     5     female tap dancer. She got her degree in art from the Gallatin School at New York University in 2001. After that, she has been a member of the Broadway Dance Center since 2002. During all these years, she has     6     many wonderful tap dance works. And she     7     drive the art of tap dance to a higher level. In SOUNDspace in 2011, she     8     the stage space by moving dancers in and out of view. Welcome to the Oracle Art Center. I’m pleased to show you     1     this wonderful center.

There is a large     2     of modern art here. There are also exhibitions throughout the year by different artists. Exhibitions are     3     on Level 2 of the center and usually last between two and four months. There are also regular videos shown at weekends.

And that’s not all; we hold talks by local artists. These are given     4     a month in Room 5 on Level 3. And if you’d like to do a course in painting, local artists often come to the center and teach people of all     5     . For a list of dates of events and courses through the year, please ask at reception. They can     6     information about times and tickets as well.

The Oracle restaurant is on Level 4 and is open for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea     7    . It is also open for dinner on Friday evenings. You might like to visit the gift shop after you have looked at the exhibition. The shop has a great selection of books and is located on the ground floor     8     the reception desk. There are also hundreds of postcards and     9     of famous paintings as well as gifts and art materials.
