Last Monday, our monitor announced that an English Speech Competition will be held in our school on Friday afternoon. On hear the news, some classmates signed up for it immediately. I was thinking about if I should take part while my teacher came. She told me that it was good chance to show my gift. Encouraging by her, I decided to have a try. During the following days, I practiced the speech hardly. Then came the big day. I did a really good job and won the first prize, that made me so excited. Do you believe love is the most important? In the early twenty century, homeless people were often brought up in orphanages, in that they received little love. At one time, Dr. Skeels took twelve children from an art orphanage or had a young girl look them each day. He also studied another the twelve children who are left in the orphanage all day long. He followed these children until they grew up, and the results were shocked. The children staying all day in the orphanage were either dead or suffering from serious illnesses. In first glance, my hometown is a very ordinary place, which is not different from any another town. There are two thousand people living here, but very little shops or restaurants, so people have to go to the mall in the city. Why does travelers come from all over the country to visit our town then? Some of the scenery in this area ranks among best in the country. It is a place where you can see many tall maple trees, that wide roads run alongside farms, and where a big river flows with countless ducks on it. With such many beautiful things to see, my hometown appeals to many professional photographers.
