Last week, my son found a toy by the roadside. He was so exciting by this amazing find. He holds onto it all day. However, that evening, I saw a post from a mother try to find a lost toy — her son’s favorites. Then I immediately sent him a message that we had it. The next morning, I told my son the news the toy in his arms belonged to another little boy. To my surprise, he glad gave me the toy and said he knew what were the right thing to do. Then the toy was returning to its owner. A week later, that little boy’s mum bought with a new toy for my son as a big thank-you gift.

John Snow was a well-known doctor in London. Cholera was the most deadly diseases of its day. Neither its cause nor its cure were understood. So many thousands of terrified people died every time when there was an outbreak.

At that time, there were theories explained how cholera killed people. John Snow suspected the second one. As the disease spreaded quickly through the poor neighborhoods, he began to gather the information. He marked on a map the exact places all the dead people had lived. The map gave a valuable clue about the cause of the disease—the water from Broad Street pump seemed to be to blame. However, he found the water came from the polluted river.

With other two cases, John Snow announced for certainty that the polluted water carried the disease and suggested that the source of all water supplies was examined. Finally “King cholera” was defeated.

Have you heard about Singles’ Day (Nov. 11^th) in China? Many people stay up lately that night, shop online to get big savings. Well, the US has something like it calling Black Friday. Black Friday is one of the bigger shopping days in the US. It always falls on a day after the Thanksgiving holiday. On this day, store will offer special deals just like on Singles’ Day in China. On Black Friday, shoppers will often wake up very early to wait in line at stores after they open. They might start wait in line as early as 2 or 3 am. Sometimes, the crowds will be such big that it is impossible to get inside the store. People sometimes fight over things because there are only a few are left.

Yesterday, one of my colleague expressed her wish to reading The Little Prince. This is the five year that we’ve worked together. So I decide to make her wish come true. I went to a bookstore after work to look for book, imagining her reaction when she discovered it on her desk the next morning. The next morning, I arrived early at the office than usual so that nobody would see me secret leaving the book on her desk. This small gesture really made me happy. She thanked for everyone in our office. How a pleasure it is to help her realize her dream!

When I was a little boy, I was always hoping to visit Tian’anmen Square. My dream finally comes true last summer vacation. Although there was a shower, but the rain stopped soon and the sun came out quickly. More and more people came to the square to breathing the cool and fresh air. Suddenly some people shouted excited. I noticed much of them were looking up into the sky. I did same and saw a beautiful rainbow, what was like a seven-colored bridge, hanging in the sky. See a symbol of good fortune during my visit to my favorite place, I felt very pleasing. The unforgettable experience will always stay in our mind.

I am fond the summer holiday. Last summer, I go to Hawaii for my holiday. I often had a walk along the beach after the supper or had a swim in the afternoon. They sky was blue, and the air was fresher. Whenever you went, you could saw the green trees and the colorful flowers. The food in Hawaii was delicious and the people was friendly, too. The holiday was really wonder. I will never forget the days when I spent in Hawaii. I enjoy travel across the world. I hope I can meet different people and visit different place of interest some day in the future.

I’m very thank to you for inviting me to stay with you in the come summer vacation. I have been dreaming of see you again so that I can get help from you in my English learning. And I’m afraid I cannot go to your place this summer. I’ve promised my grandmother, she lives in the country, to spend this summer with her. She misses me too much that I find difficult to refuse her request. I’m busy preparing for my examinations in present. I planned to visit you in winter if it’s a convenient for you.

One summer morning when I was a little kid, my parents went to the work and I was alone at home. Feeling terrible bored, I wanted to do something. When I saw my dirty shirts, the idea of wash them hit me. It was my first time to wash my clothes by me. Without experiences, I struggled to do it. After I finished, I took them out but hung them. When my parents reached home, they found I have already washed them, but the clothes was still dirty. But it didn’t make them angrily. Instead, they praised me doing something on my own.

On May 12, 2021, I watched a short video about the earthquake happen in Sichuan in 2008. The big earthquake killed the large number of people. Many places were in ruin. Many roads destroyed, which made the rescue work more difficult. However, the Chinese government got over the difficulties but provided timely help. Besides, many warm-hearted people also gave out a helping hand. Finally, people in the disaster areas manage to rebuild their homeland quickly. I was shocking when I watched the video. When I saw the common people which came all the way to help, I was extreme moved. I’m proud to be a Chinese.
