World Wetlands Day, celebrating annually on 2 February, aims to increase aware and understanding of the importance of wetlands to humans and the globe. It also spreads information about what valuable wetlands are and encourages individuals and governments to take actions to prevent their loss. The day was first organized by a group of environmentalist who wanted to celebrate and protect wetlands.
Wetlands are ecosystems which water is the primary factor controlling the environment and the associated plant and animal life. Wetlands are disappearing at a rate three times fast than forests, making them the Earth’s most threatened ecosystems. Human activities, such as agriculture development, urbanization, pollution, overfishing and climate change, have contributed the loss of wetlands.
Actions needed to save the world’s wetlands from disappearing and restore those we have already lost. That’s because of wetlands provide critical habitats for a vast variety of wildlife, offering valuable opportunities for outdoor recreation, and play a crucial role in flood control.

A concert violinist went to New York City to play at Carnegie Hall. It was his one visit to the city, so he got lost on the way from his hotel to the concert. After wandering up or down several streets, he decided to ask for directions. “Excuse me,” he said to a woman on the corner. “How do I get to Carnegie Hall?” The woman looked at the man hold his violin case and answered, “Practice, practice, practice.”
In this old joke, “get to Carnegie Hall” has two meanings: (1) arrive at the building called Carnegie Hall; (2) reach the top of the music profession, symbolized by Carnegie Hall. To perform at Carnegie Hall is a honor for any musician. It’s the highlight of his or her career. It true takes a lot of practice and hard work to be good enough to play at Carnegie Hall.
Carnegie Hall was built by Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest men of his time. It opened in May of 1891. It’s famous for its superb acoustics (音响设计), which make it a wonderful place to both perform and listen to music-all type of music. The famous Russian composer Tchaikovsky played there, and so do the Beatles.
Since the opening night over 100 years ago, many prominent classical, jazz, and pop musicians performed at Carnegie Hall. No matter what they arrived on the night of their performances such as by subway, taxi, or on foot, they all got to there by dedication to their art, talent-and practice, practice, practice.

I was acting the previous summer in an amateur theater group. I have always enjoyed acting and the theater, but I never thought I would have the opportunity to part of a real Broadway production. This became out a reality during my practice with The Starway Theater Group. One evening just before our performance we were telling by the organizer of the theater group that an important Broadway director was from the audience. He was there to discover new talents for his show. We could hardly hold our exciting! Even though I had been performing in the small show all summer, I was quite nervous.
When I went on stage for my first scene, I felt as if I were about to make the fool of myself. I still don’t understand that exactly happened, whether it was the effect of the bright lights on me or the idea that I was being watched by a great director, but whatever it was, I gave my good performance ever!
Before the show I was asked to meet with the director and he offered me a small part in his Broadway show. That autumn I went to New York and perform for one season on Broadway! It was an experience of a lifetime!

A month ago, my parent asked me what present I want for my birthday. After think for a moment, I told them that I wanted to raise a dog. I thought they would probable say ”No” because they did it all the time, so this time they said “Yes”. I was so surprising. My parents bought a puppy for me and they believed that I could took care of her. I was so happy that she had a dog to play with. Every time I get to home, she will run to me and show her excitement. What lovely dog! I treat her as my close friend.
