1 . What’s in a Game?

Picture you and your friends sitting around one Saturday, bored. You’ve read every book, watched every movie and played every game. There is absolutely nothing left to do.     1    ? Here are some guidelines to help you invent a new game that’s both playable and fun.

The Ohjective

The first thing you’ll need to design a great game is an objective or goal for players to work toward.     2    . For example, Hockey games and Risk, a kind of card game, have one thing in common — when one player or team reaches the final objective, they win.

Next, you’ll need rules to let your players know what they can and can’t do. It might seem like a game with no rules would be more fun. You can do anything you want! Unfortunately, this often results in confused players arguing about how the game should be played. Rules set limits and define what the game is — and what it isn’t. Players need to know what they can and can’t do, and what will happen when they do different things.

Meaningful Choices

While you are creating your rules, think about the choices players will make and what effects those choices will have.     4    . If the same thing happens no matter what choice the player makes, they’ll wonder why they have to choose.

Any game you see in stores has gone through many rounds of testing and revision. Rules that seem clear to you might be confusing for others. Situations might come up that you didn’t expect.     5    .

2 . Mobile Birthday Party

。Wind Tunnel: This exhibit allows party guests to experiment with aerodynamics (空气动力学). They can explore how lift, drag, and air pressure affect a flying object. Party guests can launch a scarf or handmade object into the wind tunnel and watch as it floats to the top or gets stuck at the bottom.

Wang Feng

Wang Feng rushed into a fire three times to save more than 20 people, and 98% area of his body had serious burns. He then was sent to a hospital for full treatment. But due to multiple organ failure, Wang finally died on October 1st in Beijing. Undoubtedly, Wang is a hero who is brave and will be remembered forever.

Zhang Chao

Zhang Chao served as a pilot in the aircraft unit of the People's Liberation Army (PLA)Navy (中国人民解放军海军). In order to help the PLA Navy’s carrier aircraft test, he took the risk of his own life to avoid the carrier aircraft crash. Unluckily, he died in that training exercise at the age of 29. It is important to remember that every soldier’s death is in exchange for more peace and happiness for the country.

Zhi Yueying

In 1980, Zhi Yueying, the 19-year-old from Nanchang, became a teacher in a rural (乡村的) school despite the disagreement from her family in Fengxin, Jiangxi. She firmly believes what education means to children. She once said that there is hope in perseverance (毅力), and that perseverance made her continue her teaching in the rural school for over 40 years.

Guo Xiaoping

Guo Xiaoping established the Linfen Red Ribbon School, which specializes in children with HIV/AIDS to let them receive treatment and education. Guo Xiaoping is a great teacher with a big heart, who chose to hold an umbrella over these children with love and dedication to protect them from the wind and rain for over 12 years.

6 . There are many places to see lovely giant pandas in China. But where is the best place for you to go for a special panda trip? What is the best time to go? Here are some recommendations.

If you just want to see giant pandas, we recommend you to go to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Base. It is the most easily accessible panda base. You can see pandas at different ages. This base is huge but usually crowded.

If you are looking for a deeper panda experience, you can join a panda volunteer program. Giant panda volunteer programs are available in three panda bases: Dujiangyan, Wolong, and Bifengxia. They take about 1 to 3 days or longer. Dujiangyan is the best place for a one-day program. If you want a less-crowded environment, consider Wolong and Bifengxia, though they require 2 or more days. Your work would include weighing and cleaning bamboo, making panda cakes, watching pandas being fed, and cleaning pandas’ enclosures (围场). At the end of the program, you will receive a panda keeper certificate.

Giant pandas don’t go into winter sleep. You can visit them in all four seasons. Spring and autumn are the best times to see pandas when they are most active and temperatures are most comfortable. If you visit between August and November, you will probably see lovely panda babies.

Giant pandas spend almost half their time sleeping. Grown-up giant pandas in captivity (圈养) usually eat twice a day: early in the morning and late in the afternoon. They usually sleep around noon, any time from around 10:00 a. m. to around 2:00 p. m. We recommend you to get to a panda base as early as possible, when it is less crowded and the pandas are at their most active.

7 . New York City has many remarkable parks and open spaces that are perfect for hanging out in warm weather. Here are four of our favorite places to take a scenic walk, plus where to eat nearby.

Louis Valentino, Jr. Park

Don’t let all of the factories fool you — Louis Valentino, Jr. Park has the best view of the Statue of Liberty. When you get hungry, stop by Red Hook Lobster Pound for mayo-coated lobster (龙虾). Sit at one of the cafe’s first come, first served outdoor tables, or eat on the waterfront.

Riverside Park

Stretching 4 miles from 72nd to 158th St, Riverside Park is perfect for hanging out along the Hudson River, enjoying beautiful views of New Jersey. If walking the whole way isn’t your thing, there’s a bike path too. Daily Provisions offers fantastic sandwich choices, like juicy chicken and smoked bacon.

Central Park

There are many reasons to walk through Central Park this spring: historic landmarks, great bird watching spots, and hanging out with friends. And while these are enjoyable activities, they’re even better with a pastrami sandwich from Pastrami Queen.

Ridgewood Reservoir

At Ridgewood Reservoir, you’ll find an easy hiking spot with a peaceful nature preserve and skyline views of Manhattan. After hiking, head to Rolo’s for various sandwich options. It has outdoor tables but no heaters, so you can take everything to go if it’s too cold out.

10 . After completing my first year of studies, I spent two months travelling in Nepal. There were so many sights to see, foods to eat, and fun activities to try. I only experienced a few of them, but it was an incredible experience all the same.

The first thing I noticed about Nepal was its people. They are kind and friendly, ready to help someone in need. This may be a cliché (陈词滥调) that you hear from most travellers regarding the country they travelled to, but I’m saying so because of what I saw among the citizens themselves, rather than how they treated me as a visitor. Little things about how the local people interact with each other makes me believe that the Nepalese people are truly wonderful. It shows in the way that the bus drivers and passengers keep the bus waiting for the last passenger, or the motorist smiles and waves to a kid who runs into the street after his ball. The people are like a bowl of hot soup on a rainy day – always warm and comforting. Conversations were as natural as if we had known each other for years. All the people I met during my trip made me feel at home and made my journey an unforgettable one.

The Sauraha village was my first destination. It is an amazingly quiet and peaceful place, where the people lead their lives at their own pace. Although the temperature was high during the day, it was a great area to see some of the wildlife, such as the one-horned rhino (独角犀牛) and elephants. I also got to attend some cultural shows and experience some of the traditional dances of the Nepalese people.

Of all the places I went to within Nepal, Pokhara was undoubtedly the best place I visited. The environment is great there, and there are a lot of fun things to try out. I chose to go boating on a lake, but you can also go diving. Some of the nearby hills provide a great view of the sunrise early in the morning.

Nepal is beautiful in so many ways. Whether you are looking to relax in the wildness and quietness of nature, or go on an exciting adventure, Nepal offers a variety of options. It will surely impress you.
