As a Chinese citizen (中国公民), I’m proud to experience how my motherland took actions to protect her citizens. I never thought Chinese citizenship     1     (save) our lives until I saw the government try everything it could to save overseas Chinese citizens. In 2011, the situation in Libya was tense. When the government learned of this situation, one warship, twenty civil aircraft and four military aircraft were sent there immediately and all 35,860 Chinese citizens     2     (move) out of Libya within a week. These actions have been highly praised around the world. The world isn’t peaceful. It’s just someone     3     carries the burden for you!

On Februry 14, men around the world take out their wives or girlfriends     1     (have) dinner, buying them flowers and gifts. However, people in Japan do it     2     (different). On that day, a woman usually     3     (give) gifts to the man in her life. This gift comes in the form of chocolate or cookies. One month later, on March 14, they celebrate White Day, when men present gifts to women. Once upon a time, a rich man hired a great mathematician (数学家) to find him a way to make him more money. The rich man was so g    1     that he even built a giant safe and his dream was to fill it with gold and jewels.

The mathematician worked on the problem for months. One night he said to the rich man “I’ve done it! My idea is perfect! You’ll be wealthy b    2     your wildest dreams.” The rich man was d    3     to hear this. Before he left on a long journey, he promised the mathematician double pay to run his business for him.

When the rich man returned, he found that all of his wealth was gone. Very angry, he asked the mathematician to explain. The mathematician told him he’d g    4     everything away to people in the neighborhood.

The mathematician said “There is a limit to how much wealth one can get by himself. Then I realized that many people could help us a    5     our goal. By helping o    6    , you could gain the most!”

Disappointed, the rich man went away. As he was walking, every neighbor he met was so thankful to him that they o    7     him anything he needed.

Over the next few weeks, the man saw the mathematician’s idea really w    8    . He was received with great honor w    9     he went. Everyone did all they could to help him.

He no longer dreamed of keeping his wealth in a safe. I     10     he shared it with hundreds of friends. He was now truly rich.
