文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。垃圾分类已经成为中国的一个热门话题,尤其是在上海7月1日开始实施一项规定之后。文章主要说明了北京垃圾收集和分类的现状。

1 . Garbage sorting (分类) has become a hot topic around China, especially after Shanghai began carrying out a regulation (规章) on July 1.

Beijing has been expected to do the same. At present the regulation gives garbage sorting responsibilities to government departments, property management groups and other organizations. It also gives rules for companies, explaining how they’re responsible for waste collection, transportation and treatment. Citizens are free of responsibilities for the moment.

The long-awaited revision will soon change the situation. “Taking out the trash without sorting it properly will be illegal,” said Sun Xinjun, director of the Beijing Commission of Urban Management. In Shanghai, violators (违背者) are now fined up to 200 yuan for trash-sorting violations. “The maximum fine in Beijing will not be less than that,” he said.

The Beijing city government first promoted garbage sorting in 2009. Authorities have since called on citizens to sort their household waste into four types—recyclable waste, kitchen trash, dangerous waste and others , and leave it in a colored dustbin or trash can. Blue-colored dustbins are for recyclable items, green for kitchen trash, red for dangerous materials and grey for other waste.

To promote the awareness of garbage sorting and expand the base of participants, authorities have employed workers to help citizens. With intelligent devices, those who throw in recyclable waste at given places will be rewarded with bonus points, which can be used to buy daily goods. At some communities, there are no color-coded dustbins. Instead, a scheduled garbage collection service is offered to help improve the environment. In other communities, workers offer a door-to-door service to collect recyclable or kitchen waste.

Beijing Environmental Sanitation Engineering Group has been promoting new garbage sorting facilities such as recycling cabinets and smart kitchen waste trash cans since 2016, Xinhua News Agency reported.

2 . Born after 1996 on the heels of the millennials(千禧一代),Generation Z(Gen Z)is just entering the workforce. Its members are the first true digital natives, and their ability to adapt to an automating workplace will likely determine their success. "Soft" skills such as intellectual insight, flexibility and creativity will be essential for workers to compete with machines that are growing more technically skilled.    1

Be an effective strategic communicator. Some employers fear that digital native workers might be too much like the robots they are competing with.     2     It's good communication skills that make them noticeable. Those in technology fields often work remotely or in relative isolation, so they do not always get enough time to sharpen their interpersonal skills. However,Gen Z should not ignore the importance of relationship building, listening, communicating and teamwork.

3    While most of Gen Z is still in school, they already need to think about how to continually adapt to a fast-changing world. To succeed, they must be realistic about their skills and how desired skill sets will change. For example, graduates might be trained in Microsoft Excel, but a job might require them to learn how to interpret that data.

4    Nearly half of the Gen Z said they had experienced job burnout in the past year, according to a survey.    5     Workers are at their best when doing something meaningful to them, said Obed Louissaint, vice president of talent at IBM. To avoid burnout, young people should couple finding purpose with taking proper mental breaks and trying to build healthy habits, Louissaint added.

A.Be a continuous learner.
B.Try to find interest in your work.
C.What will make Gen Z workers stand out?
D.Find work that gives you a sense of purpose.
E.More industry knowledge also equals more money.
F.Here are the "soft" skills Gen Z members need to succeed.
G.Half said they were considering a job outside their current industry because of it.

9 . Hang a Gallery Wall

Creating a gallery wall is a simple way to bring style and personality to any room — no painting or wallpapering required. Group together your favourite print, paintings and photographs to create a stylish look for any room. Here’s how.

Begin by choosing the artwork and frames (框) to use on your gallery wall. You may prefer matching styles for a contemporary look, or mix and match for a more comprehensive finish.     1    . Mirrors, hanging decorations or decorative plates can all be hung on the walls, too.

Secondly, use regular paper, newspaper or plain wrapping paper to create templates (模板) for each of your frames. Simply draw around the frame onto the paper and mark with an X exactly where the nail will need to be positioned.     2    , as this will save time later on when it comes to hanging each piece.

Then carefully cut out the templates and position them on the wall by using a small piece of masking tape at the top and bottom.     3     until you’re happy with the arrangement of the frames and the spacing in between them. A general rule of thumb (经验法则) is to use larger pieces in the centre and work outwards with smaller frames for a balanced look.

4    , hammer (敲) a nail into the centre of the X on each template. Carefully remove the masking tape and tear away the paper, leaving just the nail in place.     5    . Just take care to remember which one goes where!

A.Play around with different layouts
B.You’re now ready to hang your frames
C.If your gallery wall will hang above a piece of furniture
D.Wait until you’ve hung all the frames in your arrangement
E.Double check the templates and nail markings are accurate
F.Once you’ve decided on the final layout for your gallery wall
G.Remember that gallery walls don’t have to be limited to framed prints

10 . "Liking" healthy foods on social media platforms like Facebook may encourage others to eat a balanced diet, new research has found.

For the study, the research team asked 369 university students to estimate the amount of fruit, vegetables, and sugary drinks their Facebook friends consumed on daily basis. They then cross-referenced this information with the participants’ own actual eating habits and showed that those who felt their online social circles"approved" of eating junk food (垃圾食品) consumed significantly more themselves,in fact, an extra portion (一份) of unhealthy snack foods and sugary drinks for every three portions they believed their online social circles did.

Conversely, those who thought their friends ate a healthy diet had more portions of fruit and vegetables. These habits could have developed from seeing friends' posts about the food and drinks they consumed, or simply a general impression of their overall health.

There was no significant link between the participants’ eating habits and their body mass index (体重指数), an indicator of weight. The researchers said the next stage of their work would track a participant group over time to see whether the influence of social media on eating habits had a longer-term impact on weight and overall health.

The researchers said the findings to date provide the first evidence to suggest our online social circles could be silently influencing our eating habits, with important implications for using social media to encourage healthy eating.

"With children and young people spending a huge amount of time interacting with influencers via social media, the important new findings from this study could help shape how we deliver interventions that help them adopt healthy eating habits from a young age, and stick with them for life," added Claire Farrow, director of Aston University' s Applied Health Research Group

1. What did the researchers ask the participants about?
A.Their body mass index.
B.Their opinions on sugary drinks.
C.Their consumption of fruit and vegetables.
D.Their impression of their online social circles' diet
2. What might the study suggest?
A.We eat more junk food than expected.
B.We tend to overestimate our overall health
C.We copy the eating habits of our online friends
D.We like to compete with others on the Internet
3. What does the underlined word "Conversely" in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Additionally.B.Contrarily
C.UnexpectedlyD.Consequently.
4. What might Farrow call on influencers to do?
A.Stick with their life habit
B.Post more pictures of healthy foods.
C.Seek more diet advice from the young.
D.Help young people quit addiction to social media.
