1 . How to Choose Friends

The word “friend” as well as its meaning is the one that can be related to all generations, age groups, and all types of people.     1     During teenage years when we begin to move around in a social circle of our own, and come across different people, we get to know them, spend more time with them and one day they become our friends.

Then how does a teenager choose his or her friends wisely? You can’t call every building in town your “home”.     2     Every person you meet isn’t a friend; many may just be like “ships that pass in the night”.

    3     Choose friends who have thoughts similar to yours, who reflect（反映）your family values, who think the way you do. The company we keep both reflects and helps determine the kind of people we become. So if you want to be more brave, choose a friend who is brave.

    4     Friends do have an influence on your present habits and new habits that you may develop. It’s important to have friends who are similar to you, but it’s equally important to have friends with different kinds of qualities that will lead you to positive（积极的）growth.     5
