8 . Making great memories in US neighborhoods
Sometimes, we remember our childhood neighborhood just as well, or even better than, our childhood homes. For both children and adults, neighborhoods are a place to play, learn, and make memories.
In the majority of US suburbs, almost everyone knows each other on the block. Coming home together on the bus is usually just the beginning of neighboring children spending time together. Whether it’s playing soccer or chasing each other around on bikes, kids often take advantage of the daylight to get some fresh air outside. When it’s hot, children can jump in a pool together. And when it’s cold, they can have a snowball fight with one another.
Adults also take advantage of living in a community by befriending their neighbors. It’s convenient for neighbors to become friends, considering that they live so close together. Neighbors are often the ones to babysit or dog-sit for each other.
If someone holds a party, neighbors might lend some space for guests to park their cars in. And if the postman or woman mixes up the mail, neighbors are are more than happy to return it back to its rightful owner. Having kind and caring neighbors can make a world of difference in how a person views their home. To some people, a home may not be just the house they live in, but also the community they’re a part of.
Besides from helping each other out, neighbors often get together for block parties. Block parties usually occur in the summer, when the weather is warm, and the sun stays out late. Kids can play games, and adults bring delicious treats and socialize. There are even some occasions(场合) when local firefighters will bring their fire trucks to the party.
Neighborhoods, just like homes, come in all different shapes and sizes. Some neighborhoods may contain over 100 people, while others may only have a few people. But whatever the size, neighborhoods can be a powerful and memorable part of our lives, filled with neighbors we’ll always remember.

Living in the countryside?
Rolling hills and endless green pastures — those images are easy to conjure when thinking of the peaceful country lifestyle.
When lockdowns descended upon many countries across the world during the pandemic, social media seemed to be dominated by pictures of cottages and village life. So, why is living in the countryside becoming a modern fantasy — and are there benefits to considering a slower pace of life?
It makes sense that some people would want to give up the crowded and noisy city streets for the perceived tranquility of the traditional country life — especially during an event like a pandemic. The lockdowns and extensive periods of working from home have given people time to think about what they want from life. But it’s not just about having a greener place to look at out your window.
There is more evidence that relates to the benefits of rural living. Villages aren’t normally subject to the stop-go traffic we see in city centres, the buses fighting with taxis for dominance, or metro systems with trains that scream from one station to the next. In short, there’s less air pollution in your country retreat — a thing which increases the chances of developing respiratory conditions or heart disease. You also get more opportunities to take long walks and see the sights, meaning you can get more exercise. Less noise, more walks and better air can also lead to less stress and an increased life expectancy, according to studies such as one conducted by the British government in 2012.
However, there are some things that need to be considered.
Weather can be a large drawback when it comes to moving to the countryside. In some parts of the country, the winters bring blizzards and the spring brings torrential rains and flooding.
Living .far from the hustle and bustle of the city means that some, people may feel isolated or even lonely. And as people get older, life far from doctors or public transport could become a bit of a challenge.
So, if you’re considering a change of pace and moving to a picturesque village, there is a range of pros and cons to consider before taking the plunge.

The aim of this report is to give an insight into the wide range of live music that is available in this area, and to single out one venue(场地)which I would particularly recommend visiting
Large venues
There are two live music venues of a reasonable size the Apollo and the Hippodrome. These attract headline acts from all parts of the U K,and occasionally from overseas too. The Apollo has recently been re-decorated and is clean, well-run and well-appointed. To my mind, however,it is a little on the boring side. The Hippodrome is the polar opposite--dark,dirty and poorly-managed and it could certainly do with better air-conditioning.But what it lacks in orderliness,it makes up for in character!
Smaller venues
If it's internationally-famous performers you're looking for,the Cave isn't the venue for you. However, as a showcase for local talents,it's enjoying quite a reputation among serious music fans in the area.Tickets are reasonably priced, with discounts for students and the unemployed. The room is a little cosy,to say the least, but that adds to the atmosphere! That said, it does have a tendency to be very crowded on Saturday nights, perhaps unpleasantly so.Stage One is somewhat larger than the Cave, with an advertised capacity of 350 as opposed to the Cave's 250.They tend to attract slightly better-known acts, but at £25-30 a throw, tickets aren't exactly cheap, and when bought over the phone incur an additional booking fee of £2.50 per ticket.
Recommendation
If you only have time to visit one venue, I would recommend ________. Its programme includes the best pop music bands in the UK and while it may not be the most polished show you've ever seen,it should be a memorable evening.
