Many senior high school students have children’s book that they no longer need. Therefore, my school organize a book drive, with the purpose of donate books to disadvantaged families with young children last weekend. The activity lasted for a week and students in mine school were encouraged collect gently used children’s books from family members, friends and neighbors. I, along with other volunteers, were responsible for checking the donated books and packing them. In order to perform the task well, I had learned what to pack things from my father in the advance. Though I was tiring at the end of the week, I was happy that I got involved in doing something that is benefit to the community.

I preferred my English classes to be taught only in English, because it is helpful for us to improve an ability to speak and listen.

I have strong interested in English and foreign culture, so I’d like to be total absorbed in the atmosphere of English. I can quickly make a progress. However, since we are all English beginners, it’s really hard understand the words which is difficult. They need mother language to understand sometime.

So my viewpoint is that we should use Chinese as a minor way to explain something which is difficult for students.

My dance school has a float in our town’s parade (游行) every year. I was so exciting when I got been selected to be part of the special dance. The rehearsals (排练) did conflict to a few of my soccer games. However, their teacher said it’d be okay as soon as I practised the steps at home. Well, I should have practised hardly! There are a lot of unforgettable thing in our life. The most unforgettable one for me is the speech competition holding last year. When my English teacher told me that I had chosen to take part in the speech competition, I devoted me to the preparation. I was determined to win the first prize. I was such nervous when I stood on the stage that I forgot everything. Not until I caught a sight of my teacher did I calm down. Finally, I do a good job. When I heard I got the first prize, my heart was filled in joy and tears rolled down. Through this speech competition, I understand that it is confidence which makes people successfully.

Three years ago I failed a important exam and become a student in an ordinary school. Although I felt disappointing at the shabby campus and the poorly-equipped classroom, but I found the teachers patient and considerate. Beside, I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in class and decided to make the best of it. I worked hardly and got along well my teachers and classmates. Whenever I had difficulties, they were always available. Soon, I became one of the top student in my class, that greatly increased my confidence and got me motivated. My experience tells me that it is not what you are given but how you make use of it that determine who you are.
